Better Fleming triple read:

Live and Let Die & Diamonds are Forever & The Property of a Lady

Moonraker & Thunderball & From a View to a Kill

...remember, we're discussing the books, not the films.

The Women of The Living Daylights. Maryam Dabo, at the very least. :)

weird thing you'd like to see happen in a Bond movie

Bond gets a cold, and spends the first quarter of the movie getting over it

or

Bond is required to go undercover as a Junkyard owner.

The one thing you DON'T want to see in 'Skyfall'...

James Bond going alone as a rogue agent working beyond M and MI6's control

Heavy CGI. I'd rather see a good story then have the cinematography ruined.

Here's a tough one guys!

1. Daniela Bianchi

OR

2. Olga Kurylenko

Blast, you swine!!

Because I watched 'Quantum' last night and I was reminded how amazing she is both in looks and actual acting as a tough yet fragile Bond girl... I go for Olga Kurylenko!

In 'Skyfall'...

Faithful DAF directed by Don Siegel

Better unused early script/story draft:

Diamonds Are Forever: Goldfinger's twin brother(played by Gert Fröbe) is a shipping magnate. He houses a diamond powered laser cannon in the hull of his supertanker to attack the free world

or

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service: Blofeld is Goldfinger's half brother(also played by Gert Fröbe). Bond drives an Aston Martin to goes underwater(later used in TSWLM). Bond escapes with the help of a chimpanzee. He marries Tracy in a truck with M as his best man. and that Bond kills Blofeld and Bunt at the end by toppling a statue on them. Also, Bond escapes a place with the help of a chimpanzee. Bond and Tracy are in a parked car, Blofeld and Irma drive by and shoot Tracy dead. Bond topples a statue on Blofeld and Irma's car which kills them?

Are you kidding me? Early OHMSS drafts had all that?

Tell me you're kidding.

I'll go with the unused DAF draft, thank you. It's not so DAFt.

Which director deserved another callback?

Roger Spottiswoode (for any film)

Lee Tamahori (for any film)

Guy Hamilton (for TSWLM only)

Faithful MR directed by Ken Russell

MR directed by Ken Russell could never be faithful. One wonders if you've ever seen a Ken Russell film.

Originally, I'd put it down as Ken Loach, but then I felt that was going a mite too far... :-P

Besides, Russell directed Billion-Dollar Brain for Saltzman; he'd have done a good MR, Cliffs of Dover and all, if he'd been given the chance.

I'll pick Spottiswoode (for any film) of those three.

Nope. The OHMSS script draft with those ideas was written by Richard Maibaum in 1966 when Connery was still in the role according to Charles Helfenstein's "Making of OHMSS" book.

Better scene:

Thunderball: Bond tells Domino the truth about Largo's being behind her brother's death, gives her his watch and identification tags and enlists her aid against SPECTRE

or

The Living Daylights: Bond tells Kara he's a British agent looking for Koskov, she gives him the drugged martini and he confesses he was the man sent to kill her?

I'm not knocking Russell. I adore BDB. I've said so on these boards. But a Ken Russell-directed MR could never be Fleming's MR. I'm not saying it would be a bad film, just... different. And unlikely to satisfy Fleming purists.

I'll pick Spottiswoode (for any film) of those three.

...and Maibaum always bragged that he had no help with the OHMSS script. Don't think it would have done Dick's reputation any good.

California - on a gigantic mountain of dope and cocaine camouflaged as Hollywood hills.

Trait for a future villain:
Living exclusively on a diet of human flesh
OR
A Father Christmas head on a muscled bodybuilder shape achieved by lifelong steroid intake
