Sounds like the railway scenes will be quite extensive - several different locations to be used. Thanks for posting, Luigi.

Great find as per usual Luigi. Looks like Turkey will have the most extensive shoot outside of London. Interesting. It seems as though the rumors about trains playing a major role in the film are true. No doubt during their conversations, Mendes and Craig must have brought up how uniformally excellent the train scenes have been in the franchise. Not a bad plan to use that as the groundwork for an entire film.

Adana, İstanbul to host James Bond crew in spring

The Turkish cities of Adana and İstanbul will this spring host the cast and crew of “Skyfall,” the next movie in the James Bond franchise and one of the most eagerly anticipated titles of the year, Turkish news agencies reported over the weekend.

Filming details for the upcoming movie in the franchise have started to emerge as producers of the 23rd film in the series continue working on shooting locations in Turkey. Ali Akdeniz, the Turkish executive producer on the team, was in the southern province of Adana over the weekend, seeking support from local administrators for the movie’s scenes to be shot in the region, the Anatolia news agency reported.
Citing a written statement from the Greater Adana Municipality, Anatolia said Akdeniz visited Zihni Aldırmaz, Adana’s deputy mayor, on Sunday to discuss filming locations and to inform the mayor about details on filming. The municipality announced that a 500-strong film crew would be involved in the parts to be shot in Turkey.
Filming in Adana is expected to get under way mid-February and continue in March. Filming in Adana is expected to last five to six weeks in total, while the İstanbul stint will last for four weeks, the statement said. In April, filming will move to İstanbul. The crew is expected to return to Adana later in May to wrap up filming in Turkey.
“Since the movie’s plotline involves a railroad trip, numerous locations on the Adana railway were chosen for filming, including the historic Varda Bridge in Belemek [village], the Adana railway station in the provincial capital, the Kasım Gülek Bridge and the parts of the railway that are close to İncirlik,” the statement added.
“Skyfall,” the 23rd installment in the franchise, to be directed by Sam Mendes, is set for theatrical release in November. Daniel Craig, who has been portraying James Bond since 2006’s “Casino Royale,” will be at hand in both filming sessions, Akdeniz added. İstanbul Today’s Zaman with wires

The Kasım Gülek Bridge Is an ordinary road bridge that goes over the railway. Something tells me that we’ll see a motorbike on it.

Istanbul and trains. Seems like they took their inspiration from FRWL rather literally. I was initially thinking trains with some serious action and stunts (bikes, helicopters or something like that) but perhaps it'll be a good old fashioned fist fight, tight space and using the height of the bridge to good effect.

My gut instinct based on recent articles is that the train sequence will be on the roof of the train, or something similar, given the fact that the exterior shoot is so extensive. It really does seem like a long shoot, so I'm hoping for something particularly elaborate!

I think there are a few too many similarities between the chosen locations and the scenes planned for India for this to be a coincidence.

That said, the original sequence called for Bond to jump a motorcycle onto a train, before jumping onto a second train and then jumping off into a body of water. This makes little sense to me - jumping from a moving vehicle is one of the stupidest things a person can do, and so I could only imagine Bond thinking it was a good idea if staying on the train would be even more dangerous. Likewise, if Bond were simply trying to out-run a pursuer, why risk his life jumping from bridge to train to train just to get to the water?

If the scene is as reported when negotiations over India were in full swing, then I think we missed a step. The only good reason that I can think of for Bond to jump onto those trains the way he does is because he needs to be on one of them. So I think Bond will board the train and try to get to his objective, and then jump off to escape it. While on-board, we'll probably get some kind of fisticuffs or a firefight.
