Its strange how much denial I'm in about the DC films being a reboot to the series but I think of them as more like standalone reboot type sequels, the best example I can think of is the; 'Hulk' (2003) and 'The Incredible Hulk.' (2008) Its just a new Bond is all, its just a new Bond.

The Incredible Hulk has nothing to do with the Hulk. Aside from being based on the same property.

Have you even seen the films?

Yes. It appeared as though you were trying to say The Incredible Hulk was a sequel to the Hulk. I was merely pointing out that it is in fact, not.

What I'm trying to point out is that it is not 'not' a sequel or a sequel but rather some type of 'stand alone reboot.' Because it can be considered a sequel because it continues the story from the 'Hulk' but its also considered a reboot because it has been 5 years since the last film which didn't do as well as hoped so they've completely recast and revamped it.

I think the judgement is left to the viewer and the way I've applied it to the 007 series is that I don't consider CR a reboot and start of a new series because I just can't ignore the past which made me a fan to begin with. So I see CR and QOS as simply another Bond film.

Anyway I think I was just having a bad day yesterday and kind of let it out on you, so thank you for not calling me out on it and being the better man.

You're right, it is all in the eye of the beholder. Though I do feel that the opening of TiH kind of contradicts a lot of the Hulk, especially when they tie his research into Gamma radiation to the Captain America super soldier serum. But I digress, that's a topic for another thread.

Anyways, I don't see it as ignoring history. The previous 20 films are still around, and it's obvious the newer films acknowledge their cultural heritage (Fields in the oild, Bond's Aston, etc.). I was like you once, where I tried to bend over backwards to rationalize Bond as the same man over the 20 films, but we all know what the real explanation is:

Bond is a Time Lord. I just hope Daniel Craig agrees to come back for the regeneration scene.

I've been saying this for years, it's obvious! Bond's Fob watch is in the box.

How about the keys Bond uses to enter the crypt at Skyfall Lodge? Could that make sense?

I'm not sure there's a crypt at Skyfall, and I don't think there are necessarily keys to the chapel or priest hole.

In the photo of Bond holding keys, I think they're probably for the Aston Martin. It could be something salvaged from the destroyed car, I guess.

If EON is retiring the DB5 it most certainly could be that it is something salvaged from it.

Why on earth would the last scene of the film be Bond standing on a roof top in London, his face filled with gravitas, handing over an old distributor cap (or what ever car part) to Eve?

Bond - “I’ve got something very special to slip you.”
Eve - “Oh, James.”
Fade to black. Run end credits.

I guess I was thinking maybe it is the keys from the DDB and the key chain you see in Casino Royale, not the best guess.

Lonely Island nice, perhaps Eve hands Bond the box and Bond throws it to the ground.

If there is a scene after the rooftop box exchange, I reckon the contents of the box are linked to that.

I've just noticed in the US trailer, at about 2.00, when Bond and that guy are fighting on the ice, they are struggling over what looks like a metal box.

There are two very fast shots that show it - one has the bad guy with the box in the bottom right hand corner of the frame. The other is of Bond holding the box, pulling it away from the bad guy.

It's different to the box on the roof top, but what was inside the one, could have been moved to the other...

You´re really turning up to be quite the detective Shrubs ;) Good eye!

So, presuming Bond and M didn´t take anything with them to Skyfall, may it be something that was at Skyfall? Maybe that is why they go there in the first place?

I've always found it odd that Bond would take M there just to protect her - there would have to be a better alternative.
Yes, I agree, they could have gone there looking for what's in the box.

I agree it's likely to be something salvaged from Skyfall Lodge, perhaps with pertinence to the movie's plot or specifically to M.

When/where was this "confirmed"? I don't see anything of this importance, and a major spoiler if true, being confirmed until the film is released.

Pussfeller called that one right, then.

I'm betting that it's the ceramic bulldog. It's the right size to fit in the box, and if Eve turns out to be Moneypenny, she'd be in a position to salvage a trinket from M's office.

I got from a friend with a few Call sheets a list of Days, when which scene should be filmed. And one of the last scenes (no. 172) is called "Bond & Eve on the roof. He got the Bulldog."
