That's exactly my problem with them. It feels too loose. When I play a game, I like to feel that I have accomplished something. Sure the achievements can do that, but the Just Cause games are not tight enough. Make it open world by all means, I loved Red Dead Redemption for that. I loved making my own fun on that game, because it the storyline was tight, and you could just mess around in between quests. Go hunting, bring in bounty hunters, that sort of thing. With Just Cause it's just not linear enough. That's my two cents anyway, but to each their own, I guess. Glad you enjoy it. :)

I certainly get where you're coming from. After my first hour I was pretty much ready to chuck JC2 in. I just didn't get it. But all my friends said it's so much fun and so I stuck with it. Gradually it dawned on me that JC2 is a true sandbox game. It's an island that you make your own fun in. And the missions are there to do if and when you want to. If you never got as far as meeting the 3 factions on the island, then you wouldn't have got to the races and various challenges which also add some variety. Just talking about it makes me want to go home, double-wield a shotgun and uzi, and start bringing justice from the skies to Baby Panau!

But for it as a Bond game... Making the open world inspired by a greatest hits of bases from the movies could be good. The volcano from YOLT, the hotel from QoS, etc. would be neat. And JC2 had 104 vehicles to find in it. EON, think of the product placement opportunities there with real world vehicles! As a game just for the chuckles, it would be good.

Well, we will get a Skyfall game no doubt, but since it's a "What I want" poll...

- Old Movie with Craig
I loved how they did GoldenEye, would like to see something like that again.
Not sure which one would work though, I don't feel like Felix getting shark-bitten so I wouldn't vote for License to Kill even if that would fit Craig's Bond so well in my opinion.

- First Person with Cover System
I know a lot feel like Cover Systems are ruining games, but I like them more than simply "crouching" behind stuff.

- Online Multiplayer
After the hours I spent on Bond Versus on QoS I'm really hoping it returns. I can live without it though.

- Stealth
If the focus is on stealth it most often allows for more open environments with different paths, which I want.
Might also work better with the multiple objectives system that GE, TWINE, AUF and GEWii/GEReloaded had, which I also think is a good thing.

So what film would you suggest? Me I'm thinking I'd love to have 2 bond games next year.

So, we have a year to wait until the release of the next Bond game. What would you like to see?

After the brilliance of Reloaded, I have to admit that I really wouldn't mind seeing an older Bond film or game modernised with Daniel Craig. Activision have a winner with Reloaded, let's hope that they use this to their advantage, and that it isn't just a one off.

Discuss!

Um yea, so that didn't really work out very well.....

I voted for an action/steath game like Hitman, you can do either or and it doesn't matter. I voted no multiplayer and have the story be super long and have a lot of replay value to it. I don't care if it is an original story or not but I wouldn't mind them rebooting some of the movies as long as the levels are fun and lengthy again adds replay value.

I want a 3rd person action/stealth game a la Splinter Cell or Metal Gear. I think the Uncharted series could be a guide into making a great Bond game. No modernizing older stories either, they tried that (albeit not very hard) and it ended in disaster. Only original stories or maybe one based on Skyfall.

I think all of the ideas mentioned in the poll could work. I'd love to see a Lego James Bond as well, sort of this: http://lego-fanon.wi...LEGO_James_Bond
I especially would like to see a Skyfall adaptation, with expanded scenes, and a sequel to Blood Stone.

I don't really care if it's in first or third persion, but the third version cover system should be included. It should also contain both action and stealth.

I don't care about online multiplayer, I only play online to get achievements, so a 100% single game would be fine for me. However, I would really love to see a co-op system, to play missions with a friend, both online and split-screen. Several say that this is a bad idea because Bond works alone, but that's not true, he often has an ally (e.g. Felix Leiter) or a Bond girl with him. Also, the co-op system isn't canonical. Games like Halo and Perfect Dark have co-op system in which second player plays the same character of player one, or a non-existing character.

Co-op system isn't meant to tell a story in which Bond is accompanied by a friend, but to let players play with a friend.

I would love a Lego James Bond game, especially for CR, QoS and SF. I think all three would work very well and it could add some much needed humor into the Daniel Craig films.

I have read that guide and it's really cute! A Lego James Bond game would be awesome.

I think it would be cool ot have an original story and I like the idea that you could use stealth or action to get through certain parts like what Hitman has. Yeah and there should be no coop campaign because James Bond doesn't have a friend.

Unless you wanted to have one play as Bond and one play as Leiter.. still that isn't a very good idea.

Here's an idea. What if the creators stopped trying to connect the Bond games with the films and go back to the way they used to make them. We could have an old style OTT game with ridiculous gadgets (in the vein of EON), which many feel worked far better than DAD. We would also still have the films that are rooted in more realism. They don't have to be related. Thoughts?

Funny, I was just saying that in another thread! Yes, Hitman: Absolution is a good template for what a Bond game should be. Total freedom - you can be stealthy or go in guns blazing, and the mix of stealth and action works well because the mechanics are so smooth in the game. It's the best Hitman game yet (I've enjoyed the franchise) and I would love to see a Bond game done that way.

^ Yeah that's what I have been thinking. I agree with the original story, I think it would be cool if they came up with something not related to the movies at all.

I mainly just want a game that is worth more than its box.  That hasn't been the case for the last several Bond games, unfortunately.

Aside from that, I guess I'd want them to go the Everything or Nothing route, albeit with far better results.  Get a solid writer who can craft a clever, thrilling story that can be adapted to the videogame format.  If they can find some Hollywood talent that will lend their voices and likenesses to the game without having to break the bank for it, then that would be another way to go as well, and would help get the game noticed, which will be absolutely necessary after the disaster that 007 Legends was.  Most importantly, though, the gameplay needs to be solid and the development team needs to actually put some effort into the creation of the game, rather than relying on the license to rake in the money for them.

Also, the game needs to be 3rd person.  IMO, there should never be a 1st person Bond game ever again.  The results on that front pretty much speak for themselves.

I'd also like a game that lasts longer than 3 hours. Just because the movies are all between 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 hours, doesn't mean the games have to be.

Especially because movies' ticket costs about $ 60 less than the games' price.

I think the games have killed themselves, almost like the 'Die Another Day' mess in 2002. The series had hit a wall and in danger of just collapse but after time was taken, we had 'Casino Royale'.

I hope with 007 Legends, EON see what's happened and take their time to re-think the gaming front, with a new direction and new talent to breath life back into a market that could have been a hugh money-maker for 007 but has simply bombed.

Fingers crossed as I don't think Bond should go out of the gaming world with a whimper.

There was a pretty dismal game for the Playstation One called 007 Racing. Best forgotten. But the concept is interesting. Looking at these incredible almost film-realistic F1 track racing games on ps3 (Gran Turismo etc), I think a decent Bond car chase game (or at least a side game) which allowed you to play, race, customise, chase or free roam around levels in movie based vehicles with photo realistic playback (maybe even a movie editor like on Driver 2), would be amazing.
I'm saying this as the bike and Aston levels on Everything Or Nothing and Nightfire were very cool and it would be great to see a normal race track OR a track shaped like the movie scenario to race around. Can you imagine racing a Citroen 2CV against a fleet of online multiplayers down the open world Spanish hillside?
I'm also saying this as I've driven an automatic V8 Volante and it was a bloody horrible clunky, nose heavy monster and I so wanted it to be fun. Maybe virtual racing with laser hubcaps and missiles would be the best option.

As I stated on another forum:

Give the rights to Bioware, make the game an 3rd person action-rpg similar to the Mass Effect-series.

Also. It would be great with a really large game (similar to Mass Effect or Dragon Age), maybe containing all the films and somewhat re-imagining of the order of the films and events.

An open world with side missions and then Bond can go to the MI6 HQ to start a "main mission" (missions from the movies). We could begin with Casino Royale>QoS>Skyfall>Dr.No.>FRWL>Goldfinger> and so forth. And as I said it would be a kind of re-imagining so we get a connection through all the mission (eg. the same Bond, no "second introduction" between Bond and Blofeld etc.). It would be a huge game, but hey I've played Mass Effect for well over 100 hours.

Maybe separate the story into two games?

In the First game Bond needs to deal with Quantum and add some other main missions not connected to any "larger organization" (like LALD, GG, OP). In the next game Bond will deal with Spectre (movies like Dr.No-DAF) and also some other missions not connected with SPECTRE (maybe some of the later movies like Goldeneye, TND etc.). It would also use the same technology of "save file tranfer" used in Bioware games (Mass Effect), choices you make throughout your missions and gameplay will have consequences in the future. Also have the "Romance"-feature (present in Mass Effect and Dragon Age) in the game, maybe you want to be together w. only one girl, or want to be with them all. It's up to you and your choices. Maybe the girl will leave you if you choose to be with another and so on. The duology ends with an epic battle against SPECTRE and Blofeld.

As I've stated before, I'd like to see something like the Uncharted games. A story that takes roughly 8-12 hours to complete, sparkling visuals, great voice acting, set pieces and 3rd person. Get better writers and go the Everything or Nothing route. Maybe Ubisoft can pull this off.
