I'm French and I don't know her, and yet I've seen many recent films. According to her IMDB page, she only played in tv series, and not the best ones, do trust me... With all your respect Germanlady (I always loved German girls by the way) I think we'd better don't trust this rumour. We got a rumour in France last year or something like that, saying that Daniel Craig had a crush on a French TVnews woman and that she would be the next James Bond girl. It was an April fool. Same thing here I think, even though it is not April.

This happens every time a Bond film is being made: reports surface that some actor or model or singer or whoever is "in contnetion for a role" or has "been cast in the film" and there is no truth to them. It's just the person in question and/or their agent putting out a press release to get some quick attention. After that, we usually never hear from them again. And with EON's policy of not commenting on rumours (they probably worked out years ago that if they spent all their time issuing denials, they'd never get anything else done), there is no real conseuqence to it. Though I daresay that if they ever approached EON in the future for a legitimate role, EON would turn them away.

The only time EON do something is when a story takes hold - like when what's-her-face claimed BOND 23 would be CARTE BLANCHE and that she would be scoring it. The story was reposted on dozens of news sites (including some well-respected ones), forcing EON to act.

It is not said that Bérénice Marlohe will play the main James Bond girl, is it ? Was Gemma Arterton more famous before Quantum of Solace than Bérénice Marlohe is right now ?

A Google search of Gemma Arterton pre-QOS actually turned up results. She was in ST. TRINIAN'S and ROCKNROLLA. A Google search of Berenice Marlohe pre-BOND 23 only turns up articles related to BOND 23. She has no English-language credits - we don't even know if she speaks English - and according to you, she's only appeared in French television series of low quality. No films, or anything else to go by. This is the full statement about her supposed casting:

The names Marlohe. Bérénice Marlohe. Well, maybe. Movie news site Twitchfilm.com is reporting that young French actress Bérénice Marlohe is the next Bond girl, set to star alongside Daniel Craig in the long-awaited "Bond 23." It would be her first English feature after a string of appearances in French TV movies, series and features since 2007. To be directed by Sam Mendes, it will be Craig's third go-round as 007. Eva Green was the Bond Girl in his first film, "Casino Royale," while Olga Kurylenko took the role in "Quantum of Solace." He'll be joined by Rhys Ifans, Ralph Fiennes and, according to rumors, Javier Bardem, who would play a villain. Naomi Harris will play Moneypenny.

I know these reports tend to overstate involvement for the sake of publicity, but at the same time, "Bond Girl" is a phrase traditionally used to describe a female character who plays some part in the film - more than someone who simply eyes Bond off, like the two tennis players who check him out in CASINO ROYALE.

Well, I just find it incredibly strange that BOND 23 has a whole host of talent attached to it in both cast and crew. And yet, somehow, the only woman they seem to be able to find for the film is an obscure and inexperienced French television actor.

It's very difficult to find on youtube or other websites some videos of movies or television series Bérénice Marlohe played in, I only found two. The videos are in French, sorry.

Just saw Gina Carano in Haywire over the weekend. She has excellent fighting skills from her wrestling work and looks absolutely stunning, but she could obviously use a little help with her acting.
