I am hoping that this is true we are just a few months away from filming so we should be getting news at some point soon right?
Not necessarily, we didn’t get official word that Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green had been cast until over a mouth into filming on CR. Mikkelsen’s name came up towards the end of the first leg of filming in Prague, then Green was announced once they’d been filming in the Bahamas for a few days.
But I suspect things will be a bit different this time; what we know already has hit the net remarkably early by Bond standards.

Javier has signed on for 'Dark Tower'

Filming starts in September. Maybe rules him out if you ask me. Depends how big the role in Bond 23 is really.

I wouldn't say it rules him out. Might take some creative arranging of schedules, but if EON wants Bardem, and he wants to do it, it'll happen.

Really comes down to how long filming takes on DT. Keep in mind Bond won't be rolling until November, with principle photography likely rolling through mid August. We could still see him in a role.
What gives you that idea? Shooting might start in September but never lasts longer then 6 months. So, whenever it starts, it won't take 10 months, as you suggest here.

Hopefully he'll do Bond 23 too. When is shooting supposed to begin on Dark Tower?
Huh. Don't see how he can do both then. That would require some pretty crazy scheduling.
If Bardem doesn't board Bond 23, I certainly hope Fiennes does.

Dark-haired and blue eyes, also refined, gallant appearance wearing a dinner jacket, and wonderful actor ; but was too young for Goldeneye and too old for Casino Royale... Too bad. Well, that's the way I see things ! I hope he will have a great role if the rumour firm up. He deserves it.

Personally, I would rather see Fiennes as James Bond instead of Q, or even a vilain, but now it's too late.

Same here.
I always thought Fiennes would have been fantastic as Bond. He's a terrific actor, and has much charisma. But, as you point out, the timing wasn't good. Plus, I guess he wasn't really what the producers were looking for (too "artistic" maybe?).
I would be more than delighted to have him in Bond 23. If so, then I hope it's not for some minor appearence as Q but for something substantial (a villain, a partner, or whatever gives him plenty of screen time).
Okay, here is the part where I get to make many ennemies (

): I'd rather have Fiennes and not Bardem. I've never benn convinced by Bardem's performance. He seems quite shallow to me. Not much presence on screen.
I won't be an ennemy for I share your point of view about him to a greater or lesser extent. Is Bardem a good actor ? Yes. Is an excellent one ? I don't think so, while Fiennes is in my opinion. But if the role is well-made, it will be interesting.

He might be over the top in his villains role so far, but I guess that it was called for by the kind of movies (Harry Potter) he stared in (which I didn't see, by the way).No enemy here, either, but personally I would prefer Bardem over Fiennes. I've always felt Fiennes to be a bit over the top in many of his "villain" roles, while Bardem strikes as the more convincing actor of the two. But that's just my opinion, of course.
Otherwise, I trully find he's a very refined actor. His wonderful performance in The Constant Gardener really moved me. On the whole, I trust that, if he were to be cast for Bond 23, and if it were as a villain, then his performance would be very different from his Lord Voldemort part.
As for Bardem, I think most of his fame is due to the fact that he's a relatively new face in Hollywood, and that he's from Europe ("oh, dear, so exotic!"). Kind of like the new Antonio Banderas. But what I've seen from him so far (granted, I haven't seen everything, so my judgment is only partial) hasn't convinced me much. I doubt that he's really the true gifted talent that most people seem to think he is.
For instance, as a quick comparison between Fiennes and Bardem, I'd say that Fiennes managed to be quite good in Maid In Mahattan, whereas Bardem wasn't good at all in Eat Pray Love. For what it's worth, I think that managing to deliver a convincing performance in a not-so-great light romantic comedy is, among other things, a sign of different potentials.
Anyhow, having Bardem onboard Bond 23 would be a good cast anyway, since it would mean that Bond is able to attract famous names.
All in all, I'm so very happy with those casting glimpses (eventhough they are only rumours for now)!
Fiennes in Bond would be one of my Bond-dreams come true (the other one would be to have Michael Caine onboard. But that may be asking too much...).

Have you seen "The Sea Inside"? If not, then I think that one would change your opinion of Bardem's acting. That was the first film of his that I saw, and it blew me away. But what I've seen from him so far (granted, I haven't seen everything, so my judgment is only partial) hasn't convinced me much. I doubt that he's really the true gifted talent that most people seem to think he is.
