Interesting decision. Purely as a fan, I would've liked to have seen two sets of covers, but they have opted for the better of the two options. The US cover was an okay idea, but the execution was pretty poor.

On a related note, do we know if the UK paperbacks will include the same introductions as the US ones?

US NEW PAPERBACK JACKETS

I have been informed via Ian Fleming Publications that Pegasus Books USA will be using the same artwork as the ORION UK Paperbacks.
Also we hope to run a competition soon to win the first 5 hardbacks. Watch Facebook & Twitter & www.john-gardner.com for details.

SRJG

Fantastic news! The Benson omnibus style worked for his works but JG's novels needed something different, IMO.

Very nice box art. Unfortunately, I can't justify upgrading my new hardback reprints to the box set just for the box. I wonder why the two weren't released together.

ROH, NLF, and NDMB paperback cover art revealed!

http://www.thebookbo...-cover-art.html

I love that ROH has a blimp on the cover, but I'm a little disappointed to see a scorpion on NLF. I was hoping for a vampire bat. But this is probably because the original UK hardcover featured a scorpion on the cover. But now what are they going to use on Scorpius?

Mine have shipped. Woo hoo! Now I just need to figure out where I'm going to start putting these. My shelves are packed!

I remember a photo of your "vault" in one of your places, zencat. You'll have to get us a photo of your updated shelf with all the new Gardner's.

Ah, the vault. :)

Nowadays I don't have anything like that anymore. My collections are all spread around. A Gardner set here, a Gardner set there. I really don't know where I'm going to put these.

Got the (U.S.) books yesterday. What a treat to have new editions of the Gardners in hand. We worked long and hard for this, and the day has finally arrived. We did it!

Covers look terrific. Thank goodness we dodged the bullet on those original designs. The blurbs on the back are new and nicely written. The books themselves are not new typesettings, but facsimiles of the original hardcover firsts, which is just fine with me (I like this, in fact). One oddity is Icebreaker does not have the Simon Gardner intro as promised.

Thanks for the pic, zencat. I really hope the UK editions have new typesettings - that would be disappointing if not (I quite like the typesettings on the UK hardback reprints, so it looks promising).

Those U.S. editions looks really great, I'm jealous! Unfortunately I can't afford them right now :( Maybe I'll wait for the paperbacks...

I received my books this morning. I love that they reprinted John's books. I'd love to see some of his other work get reprinted as well.

Simon, is there any chance of that happening?

Zen (or anyone that has these), are the Gardner reprints the same size/height as the Fahey paperbacks?

No, they're a little bigger. But they don't look bad beside them, which is where I have them sitting for the moment.

Yes I am working on it, hopefully 2012 will see more JG being re-published.
Thanks to everyone for their continued support. Could not have done this without
your help.

It should be noted that there are minor differences between the US and the UK paperback jackets
though they originate from the same source, ORION BOOKS
