Am I the only one who thinks that actually attempting to film a "garden of death" or Bond battling a giant squid would look as idiotic on screen as a double-taking pigeon?
All I can think of is this scene from Ed Wood:
It does have a certain risk of seeming ridiculous. It all depends on how it's presented.
It's amusing because I know of gardeners who specialize in gardens of poison plants, or plants associated with witchcraft, or what have you, similar to the "Shakespeare gardens" or even "Bible gardens" that were popular once upon a time. A poison garden has a certain gothick appeal, but whether it's right for Bond remains to be seen. Probably one of those things that probably can't be truly judged until they actually do it.

(To compare: many thought the - of all things! - card scene from CR would be a snoozer, best part of the movie IMO.)

I never understood why. The card game was always my favorite part of the novel.

He apparently has been already cast according to this dubious site. I would love for EON to pull a nolan and cast Beale in an unspecified role and give us a few months to argue M, Contact, or Villian.

I think him as a Villian would be interesting. However untill Eon announces it I will still be under the impression that he is considered but not apart of bond 23.

Similar to Eon annoucing Mr Mendes will direct Bond 23. I still have not seen an offical press release from Eon stateing Mr. Mendes will indeed direct Bond 23. However whenever Eon does a press release regarding Mendes involvment as director of bond 23 I won't be suprised it will just be confirming what I already know.

She Simply grabbed info obtained elsewhere on the web and mushed it together to form this mess. It also says Camille will be making a return appearance. Do not believe everything you read.

Ian Beale is the new M...? Did I read that wrong?
You didn't read it wrong. I think you just started a fantastic rumor that I will take pleasure in spreading.

God I hope they don't bring him in for more drugeing up how vesper hurt him I enjoyed Quantum of solace as much as the next bond fan but really enough is enough. He'd be a pretty good Molony.

Outside the box choice there. I don't know if Eon would come up with that character to introduce. Same line of thinking though would be Major Townsend or Fred Robson from The Man with the Golden Gun. If I remember correctly, one was the "Soft Man" and the other the "Hard Man" (stop laughing) who were tasked with mole hunting within the secret service, but had different approaches to the job. Anyway I thought of this because of the whole Quantum "we have people everywhere" sort of thing. Again, not characters I think Eon would dig up. I think it'll be the obvious: M, Q, a replacement for Mathis, or just an overall new character. A left-field possibility is a politician or something like that that M talks to. Leaving off from Quantum of Solace (if they continue that route and not counting the deleted scene) they still have the Guy Haines issue - so someone to counter that. A real crusader Harvey Dent type.

I think he'd be a good Q.
That's my thinking too. It wouldn't be a big part, but he could be more styled of Algy in NSNA. Not so much frustrated by Bond, but akin to having him as the one agent willing to try out or field-test his latest bit of tech or weapon. Hell, he might even work with Bond's requests. Like a good tailor if you will.
"Q, I need something like this. Is there anyway you can do it?"
"Not all that far off from something else I've been playing about with. I could have it ready before you go. If not, I'll send it along down to you."
Something like that. He's quite a fine actor IMO.
Interesting.

Why not? They nearly dug the character up for GoldenEye, along with Loelia Ponsonby, and have repeatedly dug up Bill Tanner to be in minor roles... so, why not have him be Molony?Outside the box choice there.
