Oh - that's a good idea. I was going to suggest using the Falklands Centre when someone brought up the evaluation thing :D Nice to see we're on the same wavelength.

Just coco1997 to submit out of the already participating participants (not there's a mouthful [Moore-esque wink]) and then I can open Round 3 when I get up in the morning. Ive got what I hope is a cracker of an idea.

Yes, I like the idea of retro-actively putting in something for DAD to pay homage to! And I figured since it's South America, Bond could have been sent there immediately after LTK...

Whoops - the 'new rule' field got missed off subsequent reposts, dino, so you may have missed it! :( In short, as you submitted the plot - you can't fill in something in the 'PLOT' section again during UB-Dalton :(

Can I suggest a slight variation on this? One of the biggest problem I had with UB-Connery and UB-Lazenby in particular was that I has no idea who some of the actors or the time were, and nor did I know anything about some of the people in production positions, like composers. This effectively limited what I could fill in and what I could not. Even now I'm struggling with it - I was born in 1986 and UB-Dalton is taking place in 1990, so I would have been four when it was released (the only reason why I cast Rickman and Reno as Gideon and Dark Granger was because I know they were active then). I really don't know some of those specifics. So instead of being unable to post in the same field for the rest of the game, perhaps we could alter it in such a way that you cannot post in the same field for one or two turns. So, my first submission was a character and my second submission is an action sequence. This would mean that I cannot post another actor until the third or fourth round, and I cannot post another action sequence until the fourth or fifth.

That said, I do have a killer idea for a gadget and some locations in mind ... but I've also got a big idea for an ally.

I noticed somehow the "Major Stunt 4" field got pasted in twice--I'm sure that wasn't intentional, so I removed it.

CAST

1 Bond - Timothy Dalton

2 Bond Girl 1 (Main ie Pussy Galore/Kissy): Joan Chen as Chun Qiao, hacker, political activist and fugitive; born in Hong Kong, now wanted all over the world for the release of sensitive government/military documents.
3 Bond Girl 2 (Minor ie Tilly Masterson/Aki): Iman Abdulmajid as Miss Sienna Lauder (Apart from being 'Mrs David Bowie', Iman was Marta in Star Trek: The Undiscovered Country and played Mariammo in 'Out of Africa' alongside Klaus Maria Brandauer and Michael Kitchen; I picture Lauder as being a bit of a do-gooder, a human-rights-activist).
4 Bond Girl 3 (Background Girl - Dink/Ling):

5 Henchman (a la Oddjob): Robert Maillet as Savatier, a mute, remorseless killer with a noticeably scarred throat

6 Villain 1: Wilhelm von Homburg as Amadeus Stahl, a retired German boxer turned criminal
7 Villain 2: Alan Rickman as Gideon Granger and Jean Reno as Dark Granger, a serial killer who externalises his crimes by taking LSD when he cannot control his murderous impulses. This has created a distinct Jekyll-and-Hyde type of personality. He sees Bond as his saviour, associating Bond with his murderous side, Dark Granger. He becomes obsessed with Bond, believing him to be the physical manifestation of Dark Granger, and wants to kill him as he believes it will kill Dark Granger at the same time, finally freeing him. Dark Granger is classified as a "disorganised" serial killer, in that he does not actually plan his crimes. Rather, he simply responds to the urge to kill by taking LSD and letting Dark Granger take over. When Gideon Granger (Rickman) takes the LSD, he hallucinates that Dark Granger (Reno) is the one committing the crimes. Granger kills by slashing his victims' major veins arteries - the aorta, jugular, femoral, etc. - with a straight razor. His profile indicates that he has medical knowledge for the accuracy with which he cuts them, but this is contradicted by the fact that one cut would be enough to kill them when he cuts all of them.

8 M: Robert Brown
9 Moneypenny: Caroline Bliss
10 Q: Desmond Llewelyn
11 Sir Frederick Grey: Geoffrey Keen
12 General Leonid Pushkin: John Rhys-Davies / General Anatol Gogol: Walter Gotell (though not necessarily both - if the plot demands the Russians then we can use them, if not, then we don't need to use them)

13 Ally 1:

LOCATIONS:

15 Pre-Titles Location: The Falkland Islands (which according to DAD, is home to an MI6 evaluation center...if a certain MI6 agent needs re-evaluating after he went rogue ;) )
16 Location 1:
17 Location 2:
17 Location 3:
18 Location 4:
19 Location 5: New Zealand, particularly Rotorua (geysers, bubbling mud pools to throw someone into, Lake Rotorua for an underground/underwater base, and hot springs for the romantic assignation afterwards).

KEY PLOT POINTS

20 Villains' Plot: (if you have submitted any of the plots for the UB Anthology Project, you can't fill this field in - let's give other people a chance of filling in this most important of fields)

An unstoppable computer virus penetrates the weapons systems of Britain and several other countries. The countries are forced to do the villain's bidding or he will order their weapons to attack each other, effectively causing World War Three. (Yes, I'm picturing this as Dalton's variation on YOLT/TSWLM/TND, with the "modern" and "cutting edge" threat of computer viruses!).

21 Pre-Title Sequence Stunt: Bond is staying in a small cottage, his only companion a dog. Against a brooding sky, Bond rides a motorcycle, with the dog trotting alongside, when they hear a plane overhead; Bond looks up to see a shapely parachutist descending. When she lands the dog runs to greet her, against Bond’s wishes. Once he has the animal in check, Bond introduces himself to the skydiver (Any suggestions as to what role, if any, the skydiver plays in the main story can be up to the group). A Land Rover appears, and Bond’s assumption that the vehicle is there to pick up the girl is proven incorrect when it veers towards him and tries to run him over. After the third attempt, Bond is sideswiped and on the ground when the driver attempts to kill Bond with a pistol, which Bond is able to karate chop away. Once Bond has the revolver, he fires at the vehicle, which then crashes and flings the driver out. Bond examines the body and it turns out to be __________ (Again, this can be discussed amongst the group. Perhaps an actual assassin has infiltrated the Falklands, although that might be too similar to “TLD”).
22 Major Stunt 1:
23 Major Stunt 2:
24 Major Stunt 3: Bond is trapped in a prison that is a cross between the Russian Woodpecker and the Hanoi Hilton. Bond is very nearly executed at the gallows when a team of soldiers sent by Anatol Gogol attack the camp (unaware that Bond is currently being held prisoner). Their attack results in the prison being set on fire. With the help of Sienna - who is currently incarcerated as a human rights activist - Bond must scale the outside of the transmitter to destroy the beacon, then take out the massive power array that is powering it. Gideon Granger is killed in the process. Having chased Bond up the transmitter tower, he is electrocuted when he is trapped on the tower and Bond overloads the power array. Bond and Sienna then have to find a way through the prison as it burns around them. They narrowly escape before everything collapses in around them.

Regarding the Ephraim Lewis debate: I don't mean to rock the boat, but what if simply pushed the 'release date' of our film back a year, to 1992? That would place it square between the release of "LTK" and "GE". Also, I did some fact-checking, and Maurice Binder passed away in early 1991. So regardless of whether we decide to keep it in '91 or push it back to '92, we would need a new title sequence designer to be historically accurate.

Since it seems like we have a mini Die Hard reunion going on here, why not keep it going by bringing in it's director to helm the film (especially since he'd be coming in fresh off of several big-time films right in a row: Predator, Die Hard, and The Hunt for Red October).

To be fair, with tdalton back in the game - we've a good number of participants so we're unlikely to get much past a fourth round, if a full fourth round even occurs (at count 21 plus fields ought to be filled in at the end of the third round). I'm only 4 years older than you, so I can sorta understand what you're going on about - but I think we've all seen sixties/seventies/eighties movies enough to be able to pick up a director or two (and in the sixties/seventies/eighties Bond movies, the directors seem to come from a set stable).

I think the rule can work as it stands - but we'll rethink it afterwards for UB-Brosnan if we feel changes need to be made.

I'm sure we can work the jist of this into the treatment.

Well - we're in 1990 at the moment, I think if we want to do a proper follow-up to 'License to Kill' then we need to stay in that year. I'm really not keen on Ephraim Lewis - he'd have no bankability at the time (and, as I understand it, in TLD they turned down The Pretenders for the title song because they believed A-Ha was more bankable).

Re: Maurice Binder. Perhaps we could keep him for this one, but swap him out for a potential future UB-Dalton (and, as you know, it's my long term ambition to do a UB film for every year one wasn't produced).

Since it seems like we have a mini Die Hard reunion going on here, why not keep it going by bringing in it's director to helm the film (especially since he'd be coming in fresh off of several big-time films right in a row: Predator, Die Hard, and The Hunt for Red October).

31 Director: John McTiernan

Nice casting - and I like the Die Hard reunion thing we've got going on.

Okay - Round 3 opened. The 'New Rule' continues to stand :D

23 Major Stunt 1:
24 Major Stunt 2:
25 Major Stunt 3: Bond is trapped in a prison that is a cross between the Russian Woodpecker and the Hanoi Hilton.

16 Location 1: The remains of Franz Sanchez's drug empire in Isthmus City, Isthmus (now a part of Honduras - things have fallen apart since Sanchez died and the Republic of Isthmus has been unable to sustain itself, being absorbed into its immediate neighbour)
17 Location 2:
18 Location 3: Burma (to match up with CT's prison stunt)
19 Location 4:
20 Location 5: New Zealand, particularly Rotorua (geysers, bubbling mud pools to throw someone into, Lake Rotorua for an underground/underwater base, and hot springs for the romantic assignation afterwards).

KEY PLOT POINTS

21 Villains' Plot: (if you have submitted any of the plots for the UB Anthology Project, you can't fill this field in - let's give other people a chance of filling in this most important of fields)

22 Pre-Title Sequence Stunt: Bond is staying in a small cottage, his only companion a dog. Interesting stunt, mrblofeld, but it doesn't really match up with the Burmese location for the prison stunt, does it! It's also not really another stunt, it's the continuation of the previous one.

And Rome - a nice little Euro-jaunt, tdalton :D Nice one! Also, nice gadget, coco1997.

Five participants (myself, CT, coco1997, tdalton and mrblofeld) in Round 3 - just Samuel and dinovelvet to put their turns in and Round 4 can be opened up.

Oh, Burma? Thought it was Russia... is it all right if I move it to a different slot, then? :S

Yeah, sorry about that - I was just unsing the Russia Woodpecker as a reference for what kind of location I had in mind.

Added a casting contribution. I figured we'd have three different actors playing that role for the three different Dalton films :)

13 Ally 1: Bill Paxton as Felix Leiter (post-LTK, I see him as having Fleming's hook-hand, and being able to walk, with a false leg, and using a cane. (A cane that doubles as a rifle, perhaps? :) )

LOCATIONS:

15 Pre-Titles Location: The Falkland Islands (which according to DAD, is home to an MI6 evaluation center...if a certain MI6 agent needs re-evaluating after he went rogue ;) )
19 Location 4: Rome
20 Location 5: New Zealand, particularly Rotorua (geysers, bubbling mud pools to throw someone into, Lake Rotorua for an underground/underwater base, and hot springs for the romantic assignation afterwards).

KEY PLOT POINTS

21 Villains' Plot: (if you have submitted any of the plots for the UB Anthology Project, you can't fill this field in - let's give other people a chance of filling in this most important of fields)

22 Pre-Title Sequence Stunt: Bond is staying in a small cottage, his only companion a dog.
23 Major Stunt 1:
24 Major Stunt 2: Coming out of danger from (INSERT PREVIOUS ACTION SEQUENCE HERE), Bond and (INSERT BOND GIRL HERE) happen upon an old logging camp. With no other means of transport, the two clamp on some skiis and attempt to go down the slopes to some semblance of civilization -- except Stahl has learned that Bond (INSERT ACTION FROM PREVIOUS SEQUENCE HERE), and sends his goons out; they commandeer a logging chopper from the site, and try to run down Bond and (INSERT BOND GIRL HERE) with the deadly sawblades hanging from their helicopter as the two ski through treacherous hazards.
25 Major Stunt 3: Bond is trapped in a prison that is a cross between the Russian Woodpecker and the Hanoi Hilton. Bond is very nearly executed at the gallows before a team of soldiers sent by Leonid Pushkin attack the camp (unaware that Bond is currently being held prisoner).
26 Major Stunt 4:
27 Finale Stunt:

That skiing sequence is very TWINE. It's like they've taken the ski chase against the parahawks and crossed it with the helicopter attack on Zukovsky's caviar factory.

Great casting. I've always been a fan of the idea of someone like Paxton or Gary Sinise in the part of Felix Leiter.

I think it was lifted partly from the unused GoldenEye draft - which was later adapted into the parahawk sequence and the attack on the caviar factory. So, in some respects, it is very TWINE.

And yes, good choice in Paxton for Felix Leiter - he'd have only been 35 at the time, though, nine years younger than Dalton. Though I admit, the age factor never entered into the equation with Hedison (who was almost twenty years older than Dalton).

Now just Samuel to submit before Round 4 can commence :D

Oooh, I don't know what I want to do four round four. I have two big ideas, but I'll probably only be able to use one of them. I think I'll save one for UB-Brosnan. Actually, I'll probably have to, since that one is a location and I've already done a location.

terminus, are you going to update the Ultimate Bond Project thread in the Fan Fiction Posting subforum to include UB-Connery, UB-Lazenby and UB-Moore?

Indeedy - am off to bed. I expect Samuel will have posted by the time I get online in the morning so that I can open Round 4. But if we need to wait a bit, I don't suppose it matters much as we've ploughed through these first three rounds at quite a good clip.
