I won't even bother telling you what I like about my favorites - half of you will say I'm wrong anyway. And I don't have to agree with your choices; I'm just glad that you're all fellow Bond fans, and that we occasionally agree on something.
Hooray for George Lazenby, Roger Moore, George Martin, Bill Conti, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, David Arnold, Lee Tamahori and all the other current underdogs - you may change your minds and join me in celebrating their contibutions some day.

All of them except Mr. Arnold.

I would give AVTAK Zorin, Tibbett and John Barry's score
Everything else "Spy" wins for me.

What I will give the film is Roger Moore is very handsome even as a middle age Bond. Christopher Walken played Max Zorin (a very lame character)to the best of his abilities, even making him somewhat iconic. And I think the theme song and score are very nice.
TSWLM is one of the few perfect Bond films for me. The only Moore film that is perfect for me. Its exotic, exciting, innovative, well-directed and Moore is at his best. The cast is incredible. XXX, Jaws and Stromberg are such an amazing ensemble for Bond. Its a cliche to praise the film... WHO CARES? Its great and deserves much love. The theme song is a favorite for me and while the score isn't the best thing ever, it surely is original and appropriate for its time and sort of fun.
So much of TSWLM works because its paced perfectly and it knows when to go for humor and when to go for suspense and thrills. It reuses elements from YOLT, but it improves on them exponentionally. I never cared for YOLT much anyway.

It's a complete rip-off of Superman: The Movie!Loved the idea of creating an earthquake (scientifically there must be some credibility to the idea, no?)

AVTAK has a far, far better score, Grace Jones being odd, Christopher Walken being odder, and some wonderful little sequences like the PTS, the finale and Zorin's party at his estate. It's also dreadfully paced and some the "thrills" it offers (Fire engine chase? "My car! Oh!") are simply embarrassing.
TSWLM has Roger Moore in peak form as Bond, some great action sequences and a great Bond girl in Anya. It's also overlong with a tedious final battle, Stromberg is boring, there are one too many "amusing" moments with Jaws, and the musical score just leaves a bad aftertaste. Especially the awfulness that accompanies the van bouncing around in the desert.
Overall though, I prefer AVTAK by a few hairs - Mainly due to Barry's outstanding score, Walken's kooky performance and the strong finale with the blimp.

AVTAK, on the other hand, seems a little tired and derivative. It really is just more of the same. Everybody ,bar Roger, seems to be having a good time and is clearly revelling being in a "Bond Film". Rog, on the other hand, seems to be simply going through the motions and barely enjoying himself. For all people criticise Connery for sleepwalking through YOLT, or simply turning up for the money in DAF, I think that this could equally be levelled at Roger here. I can still remember the lack of enthusiasm Rog showed when promoting the film. Grace Jones and Tanya Roberts are embarrassingly wooden and the scenes at Ascot, featuring an elderly MI6 looking like an OAP's day out just make me cringe.
