The Telegraph, reporting from the launch event, said it would be in stores for Christmas.Has a specific release date been mentioned anywhere? I've seen "Holiday 2010" which seems very placeholder-ish. In November, Activision is already putting out Goldeneye on the Wii and the new Call of Duty game, so putting out three action shooters all in the same timeframe sounds insane. I'm guessing January for Bloodstone unless the release date has been set in, um, stone.

I don't see much Bond in this. Looks more like Far Cry 3.
?? What? I don't think you've played either Far Cry or Far Cry 2. They're not even in the same ballpark as this.

Yeah, I don't understand that comparison...they both involve shooting, but that's about it. If anything, I'd say there's a Splinter Cell Conviction vibe going on with the action/shooter scenes.

I would actually go with Everything or Nothing or The Bourne Conspiracy minus the really crappy driving part of that game and the over use of quick time events.

Additionally, I hope the game has a sense of humor. One of the great things about EoN is that it does have it's humorous moments. Craig's model from what we've seen seems to have his eyes narrow and violent, leading me to believe that laughs will be sparse. I do hope they have some lighter moments.

Love the look of the title sequence myself..but the song..UGH!! It is absolutely HORRIBLE!!
Never did I imagine that we could get anything cheesier than Rita Coolidge's "All Time High" but this is almost as bad!!
I actually think it's on par with what we've gotten for Bond songs the lost 15 years (YKMN excluded). It's not all the great but I certainly find it more tolerable than DAD and TWINE.

Are we sure Greco is the main villain of the game? It seems like
SpoilerSure there isn't another villain for Bond to take down?

Well Bruce Feirstein never met an innuendo he didn't like...

Yeah, I don't think we're going to have to worry about there being a lack of humor in BLOOD STONE. Feirstein's Bond films have an abundance of one-liners and innuendo in them, so I would expect his work on video games to be in a similar style. Hopefully they're a bit better than those that were in GE, TND, and TWINE, but I'm doubtful.

Well, yeah. EON, Bourne, and Conviction are all pretty much cut from the same cloth, apart from the odd driving bit and cliff free falling level(!)
I actually wonder if Bloodstone started off with elements that they were going to use in a QOS game, the boat chase is obviously very QOS-ish, and a portion of the car chase in a tunnel looks suspiciously similar to the PTS...

That song is certainly better than "Another Way to Die"
LMAO! I was just getting ready to type that!!! BTW, is the track available on iTunes? I'm kinda digging it for real.

It certainly is. Hopefully Joss Stone's involvement with this song won't automatically take her out of the running for a film title song sometime in the future.

This is my dream. Bloodstone done by the people who brought us Red Dead Redemption. I mean, this game looks promising right now, but I fail to get extremely excited with all these Bond titles being released lately. I think that the game engines are just mediocre at best.
Like 40 of the people involved in RDR got canned after its release despite the critical acclaim and good sales. The video game industry is not an easy industry to be in - there's a lot of burn out for this reason.

Yeah, just this week I think. Hopefully the rest of the team standing will milk the game engine for all it's worth.

I wonder why they didn't do OO thing with the title.

I'm extremely happy that they didn't go that direction. I didn't care for it at all with Casino Royale, although it was better than just slapping the words "Casino Royale" in front of the 007 logo like they did during the Brosnan era, and I really didn't like the way it looked with the Quantum of Solace logo. Hopefully this could mean a trend away from doing that in the films, although I very much doubt it. It would be nice to see a title stand on its own, like Blood Stone does at the current moment, rather than trying to shoe-horn the 007 logo into it.

I kinda dig that. 007. It's fun they try to get that from the title.

I guess it just comes down to whether or not you like the 007 logo. I've never cared for it (even when separate from a title and just standing on its own), and I've always liked the look of the posters (and other merchandising items) where they come up with a unique look for the title each and every time out. I really don't think that it worked for the Quantum of Solace title, especially the one where they stacked each word of the title on top of the other to create a three-line title.

Hmm. I don't know why Activision would want to put three games out at the same time that are all competing for the same audience (Bloodstone, Goldeneye, and Call of Duty black ops). Of those three, I'd say Bloodstone would be the one most gamers would skip, if only because the other two have bigger name brand value. I'd prefer to see a Jan or Feb release date so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Bond fans will have Goldeneye to enjoy till then anyway!
