This is prooving to be very tricky.
I think I like the word 'breaker' in the title - though if it's the name of the comp it doesn't NEED to include naything to do with computers, given the computer we're basing it on is called the Jaguar.

Prompted by that, tdalton - and I know we wanted a one-word compound title - how about we use 'THE NEEDS OF THE MANY' as the title, or 'THE NEEDS OF THE FEW' which would be more appropriate given the ultimate plot by Quantum to give power to an exclusive few. We could still keep the name of the computer as 'Legion' - but I'm officially backing 'THE NEEDS OF THE FEW' or 'THE NEEDS OF THE MANY' as the title for UB26.
I think that either of those are probably the best of the titles that have been suggested thus far, although I still like the idea of trying to incorporate "Legion" into the title. I think that it lends a potential title a more sinister undertone, and it not only fits in with Quantum's mentality ("we have people everywhere"), but also with "Damien Blanc", as well as the idea that the computer could be named "Legion". My suggestion for the title of the project would be "We Are Legion" or "I am Legion" (or some other variation on that theme).
Still, as always, I'm happy with whatever is decided.

I like the title--I just don't like it for this particular story. I still feel we need a snappy, one word title, and I'm sold on 'FIRESPHERE'. Using 'THE NEEDS OF THE MANY' continues the trend of wordy titles containing the phrase 'of/of the' that I've been opposing. These are starting to sound less like James Bond and more like Harry Potter titles.

I'm still not sold on 'FireSphere' - it just doesn't 'feel' right to me.
There doesn't seem to be any unifying factor to the names of the first ten of the TOP500 - Jaguar, Nebulae, Roadrunner, Kraken, Jugene, Pleiades, Tianhe-I, Blue Gene and Red Sky. I'm still keen on using the name Legion for the name of the supercomputer used in the operation itself - that definitely feels right, imho.
I did ponder the name 'Clawhammer' to put forward - borrowing it from the Bond-homage villain in the dream sequence prologue to the Mark Gattiss novel 'Black Butterfly'. But - again - it's not an original title, it would feel too borrowed like titles with '-breaker' in them.

A computer is effectively a counting instrument, a very detailed one, but in banking circles it counts money, right?
What was the earliest form of counting instrument?
The Abacus.
If you change the computer's name to ABACUS your movie could be called THE ABACUS CODE or if you want to be really neat, THE ABACUS CODA, which suggests an elaborate game and a final flourish.
I rather like KALEIDOSCOPE, but I think there's already been a movie called that.
Incidently I prefer the epilogue with Lucia Rojos. Her character will simply disappear without the "coda" of her reapearance under the cross-hairs, which seems a waste of the scenes in Barcelona. I think waitress is a bit ordinary, make her a salsa dancer...

LEGION is a great name for the computer, but Abacus is too cool to not use--perhaps the operation to protect Mercedes Baines could be called Abacus? If not, the name could/should be saved for a future villain.
KALEIDOSCOPE is a great title as well, though I still prefer Tightpants' 'FIRESPHERE' proposal. Besides sounding totally badass, it works in the sense that 'fire' refers to the 'firewall' concept we discussed and 'sphere' could reference Quantum's global, and in this case, technological 'sphere of influence'.

One problem: That title was already used for a terrible Apocalypse film, this year: http://www.avclub.co...s/legion,43077/LEGION is a great name for the computer, but Abacus is too cool to not use--perhaps the operation to protect Mercedes Baines could be called Abacus? I dunno; it makes me think of a pair of ginger nuts on fire...KALEIDOSCOPE is a great title as well, though I still prefer Tightpants' 'FIRESPHERE' proposal. WhiteFire works best, I feel; it suggests a wildfire-esque virus, while also connecting to the alias "Damian Blanc" -- eh?

I'm not proposing that as the story's title, I'm suggesting we use it as the name of the supercomputer.
I dunno; it makes me think of a pair of ginger nuts on fire...

You're probably the only one who would think that.

I changed it to WhiteFire; I felt the other one was too close to Tomorrow Never Dies."WHITEKNIGHT" is not a bad title, but it just doesn't fit the direction it seems everyone wants to take.
Ohhhh... terminus, I hope this isn't too serious; not a personal matter, I would hope?

I'd like to make an announcement - due to personal reasons, my time on the board is going to be erratic at best and non-existant at worst, for the forseeable future. Therefore, I am handing over ultimate control of the game to coco1997 and hope that you will work with him in the same way that you've worked with me - to bring together an excellent project.
Indeed, I am both honored and humbled to take over this project.
At this point, I'm uncertain as to how we should proceed. I've always felt I'm more of an 'ideas man' than a writer--so I don't really feel I'm up to the job of finishing the writing portion of UB26, but I'm more than happy to proctor the pro forma stage of UB27.
Having said that, I would like to task the more involved members here--Tightpants, tdalton, chrisno1 and Mr. Blofeld--with helping to finish fleshing out the remainder of the story. Here are the remaining parts of the story that stand to be a bit more realized, in my opinion:
* Bond's interaction with the Rusty Shafts character
* Bond's first encounter with Lucia
* Bond's introduction to Mercedes Baines--perhaps some more detail for the Oak Ridge portion is also needed
* Fleshing out the San Diego, Chicago and Senegal portions
Also, terminus and I have previously discussed the plot for UB27--I'll be submitting his idea as the first field once I post the pro forma, but know that it is not my own idea, so I'll also be submitting my own, too, whatever that happens to be. I hope that's OK with all of you.

Lucia Rojos: Passenger on the train attacked by Basque separatists in Barcelona and their intended target. She is the mistress of an ETA commander, currently in league with the Guardia Civil in an attempt to surrender when she learns ot plans to arm the Senegalese rebels.
Mercedes Baines: Being forced by Quinn to power the supercomputer by wearing a Spark Suit. This leads to Termaintor-Quinn sequence as Bond rescues her.
San Diego: Mercedes admits the supercomputer is not quite ready, and that her mentor is capable of finishing it off. They travel to San Diego to rescue him, with the intention of putting both him and Mercedes into protective custody. Quinn, knowing the computer is not ready, goes after the mentor. Bond rescues him and they escape in the glider as Quinn gives chase. The mentor is revealed to be in league with Quinn, the one who told her of the Oak Ridge facility. Bond kills him.
Chicago: Felix Leiter is able to trace the mentor's finances (implying that the CIA recruited him from business school, where he was studying to be a forensic accountant) leading them to the Chicago nightclub, a front for Quinn's activities. Bond leads the assault, but Felix is abducted and frostbitten.
Senegal: Bond lets Mercedes be caught as she can finalise the Jaguar project. He tracks her through the river delta to the resort hotel, where he must swim up the river armed with only a knife to infiltrate the compound.

We also need to come up with a way to incorporate SamuelKevlar's submission for the gun turret in a briefcase idea.

Lucia Rojos has it. She's showing it to the Guardia Civil because it's the weapon ETA are supplying to the Senegalese. Bond acquires it after the Barcelona sequence, and may use it later in the film (for example, to delay Quinn and Quantum as he and Mercedes attempt to escape Oak Ridge). It would also come up in the Senegal seuence, smuggled into the hotel as luggage.
This is interesting as it will give a fresh twist to the projected idea of Lucia Rojos being Bond's lover. If her "betrayal" is unforseen (or is it?) then it adds an element of pathos re: Vesper. Could it be something Bond doesn't know about, but discovers towards the denouement of the movie, a chance remark by Quinn?
At the end of the movie, as Bond watches Lucia through the sniper scope, the audience thinks he's going to shoot her, but instead the Guardia Civil arrive and make an arrest. As she is driven along the road, she sees Bond's Lotus Elite and the circle is complete.
Fits in well with THE ABACUS CODA! (WHAT THE HELL, just thought I'd nudge it again...)

I really like this idea.
Impressed across the board, actually. Feel like I should contribute something more to the 'coalescing' effort, but it's in more practised hands than mine.

Thanks. I was trying to give ETA a reason to attack the train. The way it was written, it just seemed to happen. I know that was the feeling that everyone was going for with Bond trying to retire, but at the same time, it was clearly the hook that drags him back in. I needed to give him a reason to go back in - having Lucia on the train with the suitcase machine gun seemed to line up quite nicely in my head, so I ran with it.I really like this idea.
