Paul Bettany, Rufus Sewell, Steven Berkoff are also in this.
I think this will be his biggest movie since ... Bond.
I hope his role won't be too small.

I've said for years that the guy could very well end up getting an Ian McKellen/Christopher Lee-style comeback as he grows older, and maybe that will happen after all.

Florian Maria Georg Christian, Graf Henckel von Donnersmarck is the full name. The AMPAS didn't care and gave him an Oscar for best foreign language film in 2007 (for 'Lives of Others'). Actually, the name sounds as if Ian Fleming himself had invented it as a villain's name.I'm afraid the director's name sounds like a joke...
Guess why Tarantino named a character 'Bridget von Hammersmarck' in 'Inglourious Basterds'...

Bond-ing With Depp & Jolie
Former 007, Bond villain join the cast of The Tourist.
by Jim Vejvoda
March 26, 2010 - GK Films has announced, via Facebook and Twitter, that they have added two James Bond movie veterans to the cast of their upcoming romantic thriller, The Tourist, starring Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie.
Timothy Dalton, who played 007 in The Living Daylights and License to Kill, and Steven Berkoff, who played a mad Russian general in Octopussy, have joined the film, which is now shooting in Paris and Venice.
Paul Bettany (Legion) and Rufus Sewell (Dark City) were also recently cast.
Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck directs from a screenplay by Julian Fellowes, Christopher McQuarrie, and Jeffrey Nachmanoff. The Tourist revolves around Frank (Depp), an American tourist visiting Italy to mend a broken heart. Elise (Jolie) is an extraordinary woman who deliberately crosses his path. Against the breathtaking backdrop of Venice, Frank pursues a potential romance but soon finds himself the pursued as he and Elise are caught in a whirlwind of intrigue and danger.

Dalton really has had a filmic resurgence these past few years.

In addition to Dalton and Berkoff, the script was (co)written by TND's "Minster of Defence", Julian Fellowes.
Fellowes also played Noel Coward in 'Goldeneye' and Rufus Sewell read all the Fleming novels (bar one) for the Penguin audiobooks.

I hope it's a decent supporting role, and not just a cameo.

He looks really good there, doesn't he.
It's great that he's finally shaken off all the negative Bond baggage and is starting to get better roles again now.

Yes, more Dalton. The more, the better.
I hope it's a decent supporting role, and not just a cameo.
I've read the script and I have no idea what role he's playing. There's an obvious part for Berkoff, that of a bald Russian mobster, so that's right up his alley, and it's obvious what Bettany and Sewell are playing, but there are no other major roles or anything that's an exact fit for Dalton. I'm going to guess he's playing a character called "Goyal" who is Bettany's partner/sidekick, but that character doesn't do anything remotely exciting.
Have any articles mentioned the name of the character Dalton is playing?

.... Yep, he's looking good for a guy who's just had his 64th birthday.
Nice to see him back in the fray. Whether its a big role or not I'm not bothered. Just glad to see him in some high profile films again.
Dinovelvet, I haven't seen anywhere the name of the character he is playing, and I've looked very hard !!!

And boy, has Johnny Depp ever looked so... unappealingly bloated? And Jolie as artifical? What happened with the make up here?
I know, they have set this as a big christmas release and it probably will open huge. But... wow, that trailer definitely is disappointing.
