Well it's also the director of Elf and the writers of both Transformer films, so lets hope there isn't a scene where Craig is stuck in a revolving door for half an hour while running away from an indistinguishable army of grey aliens.

But there wont be. I think the writers are two of the biggest hacks out there, but I think this sounds like fun.

I never believed Bond had a chance to start filming in summer - like it was said - end of the year seems realistic.

Well I don't judge them on their Transformers scripts because they're essentially taking orders from a toy company on what they can and can't do, and then you have Mr. Bay also inputting his unique "vision", such as the pseudo-racist robot sidekicks.

No, she means, that filming Cowboys in summer will prevend him from doing Bond in summer. B) But Bond won´t be ready for a summer shooting - end of year, yes, with MGM being settled by April.

Well I don't rate them on the basis of their non-toy advertising work (M:I:3, Star Trek, Alias either so I still think they're pretty big hacks, but that doesn't mean they don't have enough skill to pull off a fun movie about cowboys fighting aliens.

Well, quite. (We really should stop saying "Well" in front of everything though!) Personally I enjoyed all three of the projects you mentioned there, to varying degrees, though I gave up on Alias when it re-booted for the THIRD time. Still, when one buys a ticket for a film called Cowboys and Aliens, you know what you're getting into, and these guys, and Favreau, have a proven track record in that kind of film.

Olivia Wilde will be playing the female lead in Cowboys and Aliens. If that name sounds familiar, its because she auditioned for the role of Vesper in CR. In another "Coincidence? I don't believe in them!" situation, she co-starred in the tv show The Black Donnellys, created by...Paul Haggis.

Olivia Wilde On Jon Favreau's Cowboys and Aliens!
The House actress shares her thoughts on how the director is handling the genre mashup of sci-fi and western...

"Jon Favreau likes to describe it as a mashup — he loves mashups when it comes to music," the actress told MTV News. "So this is kind of a film mashup. I think that's cool, and it hasn't really been done that much before."

As for what this mashup might entail, Wilde was quick to assure fans that although the movie may be full of special effects the producers have maintained a story-driven focus.

"With producers like Steven Spielberg and Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, these are people who really care about the story, and they care about wonderment and imagination and celebrating that. That's what this movie's going to do. It's going to have awesome effects, but Jon Favreau and everyone else are concentrating on making a great story."

"I think that's a film that's going to be interesting for a lot of reasons," she said. "It's very different. Western enthusiasts will be happy. Sci-fi enthusiasts will also be happy."

Experience the excitement of visiting a film set when you and a guest meet Daniel Craig in Santa Fe, New Mexico this summer during the filming of Cowboys and Aliens. Directed by Jon Favreau and co-starring Olivia Wilde, you'll have the chance to see filming of this highly-anticipated movie from the inside out -- and meet one of the world's most fascinating (and need we add handsome!) film stars, Mr. Daniel Craig.

Daniel is currently filming Dream House alongside Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts. This tense thriller, directed by multi-award winning Jim Sheridan, tells the story of a family that learns of a brutal crime committed against the former residents of their new home. Next year will see Daniel star as pirate Red Rackham in Steven Spielberg’s The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. In this highly anticipated adventure animation, Daniel stars alongside an exciting cast including Simon Pegg, Jamie Bell and Andy Serkis.

Last year Daniel trod the boards in a twelve week Broadway run of A Steady Rain. Daniel played opposite Hugh Jackman in this contemporary American play telling the story of two Chicago cops and their conflicting accounts of a harrowing experience. Last year also saw Daniel on the big screen in Edward Zwick’s critically acclaimed Defiance based on the true story of four brothers in Nazi occupied Poland. In 2008 Daniel’s second outing as "James Bond" saw him in Quantum of Solace directed by Marc Forster and co-starring Judi Dench, Olga Kurylenko and Gemma Arterton.

Audiences saw him in Stephen Spielberg’s Oscar nominated Munich, and he received an Independent Spirit Award nomination (Best Supporting Actor) for his role in Douglas McGrath’s Infamous, which also starred Sandra Bullock and Gwyneth Paltrow. In 2006 he made his "James Bond" debut in Casino Royale, for which he received a BAFTA Award nomination (Best Actor) and an Empire Film Award (Best Actor), and the film became the highest grossing in the history of the 007 franchise. In 2007 audiences raved over Daniel in The Golden Compass, co-starring Nicole Kidman and Eva Green, and the following year in Flashbacks of a Fool.

A highly accomplished stage actor, Daniel’s theatre credits include leading roles in Hurlyburly, Angels in America, , and in A Number.

Currently Placed Bid:
placed by WGP $850.00

Estimated Value: $10,000.00

Last week, Latino Review received word that Harrison Ford was “about to join a huge comic book movie to be directed by a director coming off a soon to be released huge comic book movie.” Logically, the writers at the site guessed the film in question is Jon Favreau’s upcoming Cowboys & Aliens since his Iron Man 2 hits theaters on May 7th. Sylvain White is the only other director that could possibly fit into this category; The Losers opens on April 24th and White has been attached to a film adaptation of Frank Miller’s Ronin comic for a while now. But I don’t think either The Losers or Ronin qualify as “huge” comic book movies, so I tend to agree with Latino Review’s assumption.

While Favreau hasn’t officially confirmed this little casting rumor as of yet, today he updated his Twitter account with the following: “Some very cool Cowboys & Aliens casting news coming soon…” Sure, you could argue that this could mean just about anything – but what fun is that? Latino Review has been a consistently impressive source for breaking news in this industry, so I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt and trust their instincts on this one.

Cowboys & Aliens is written by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof, the same team that brought us J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek. Favreau is set to direct the project for DreamWorks and Universal. Daniel Craig will play Zeke Jackson, the cowboy hero who leads a group of gunslingers against invaders from another world. Olivia Wilde has also been confirmed; she’ll play a woman named Ella who joins forces with Zeke to help battle the aliens. And adding an interesting spin to the formulaic dynamic, the cowboys in the story must team up with the Native Americans to defeat their common enemy.

But what role would Harrison Ford play in this world? This film is based on a comic series by Scott Mitchell Rosenberg, and since I haven’t had a chance to read it yet, I’ll leave it up to you to speculate until we receive some solid confirmation. If you have read the graphic novels, let us know which character you think would be a good fit for the iconic actor who has embodied two of the most famous personas in film history.

Cowboys & Aliens supposedly begins shooting in July (a quick turnaround for Favreau after Iron Man 2), and the film is scheduled to hit theaters on July 29th, 2011. What do you think about Harrison Ford’s potential involvement in this movie?

No offence - but I don't need lessons in comedy, Germanlady.

I was actually being flippant and not intending to step on the toes of any die-hard Daniel Craig fans, though really do not care if I have - and certainly not in this instance.

This is hardly a rumour. It's been floating around for a while who may well be joining the COWBOYS cast. I know nothing about the film - apart from the obvious - but if that actor is involved then that is great in my books.

Exactly - we have to deal with you and your desert dry comments everywhere, but now forcing the flippant ones on us is just - TOO MUCH  BTW - and just for the record - being annoyed by you doesn´t have anything to do with being a "die hard" DC fan - its just a bit over the top at times and there is no getting away from it B)

Your ego sure needs a lot of pampering and needs to proof itsself right and others wrong like - ALWAYS  Are you never getting tired of that?

Also - and this will be the end of it - you purposely annoy people (and don´t deny it) and then you go like "I didn´t mean any offense? That´s poor - at least admit it and don´t put the mantle of "Oh, for the sake of reality" over it all.

I am well aware, that enough people here like your posts - but so what? I don´t.
