With the exception of DAF--though I like that linen-looking shirt he wears when twisting the bikini top around Denise Perrier's neck--Connery's Bond has worn some truly great outfits. I've always admired his black short-sleeved shirt and brown slacks from the Shrublands scenes in TB, and his gray suit from same. There's also that "shrimp"-colored short-sleeved shirt he wears when first talking to Domino. The white tuxedo jacket from the PTS in Goldfinger was probably the first time I noticed such an item in movies when I was a kid.
I even like the pink tie; never understood the abuse that item gets.
He even manages to look amazing in his hotel room in Dr. No--with no jacket.
Stylish!

Actually, I liked this turtleneck outfit that he had worn in DAF. I thought that it suited him very well.

Actually, thinking about it, I'd like to have seen Roger in one of those.

Oh indeed. I admit that pretty much makes up for the babygro incident.Kudos also to his Royal Naval uniform for his "funeral" in YOLT.

And apart from his excellent suit, I love Sean's stewing with barely-controlled anger in that scene.

I always considered it to be the pajama coat that Fleming would write about.Ah, but what about that fugtacular baby blue onesie? Can anyone defend that?
I thought about having one made to wear as a joke to the pool party at one of Bryce's DTBB events.

Good choice! I like everything Connery wears in DAF, so I take back my previous remark about "with the exception of DAF."
1971 was a wonderfully bizarre year, wasn't it?

I thought his wardrobe in DAF was atrocious, however (not at the time, but as time marches on). That yellow turtleneck and brown plaid ensemble looked like something Dean Martin might have - and probably did - wear as Matt Helm. But he made formal wear look so casual, didn't he? In Dr. No he was so muscular he looked like a gorilla stuffed into a monkey suit, but by DAF, when he's strolling through the Whyte House casino with one hand in his trouser pocket he looked perfectly comfortable and at ease. I'll even forgive him the paisley lapels on his black dinner jacket (but not those cowboy shoes he was wearing at Slumber, inc.)

Back on topic, yes, connery's wardrobe, particularly the suits he wore and the way he moved in them left a lasting impression on me and every day as I suit up for work, it's connery and craig's sense of style when it comes to suits that I incorporate.

It's actually funny, because I consider GF to be the very epitome of Bond class, and yet it features one of the most horrendous outfits of all time: namely, that blue swimsuit.
When all is said and done, Connery's Bond is the true living class. Plain impossible to equal. Even his Navy uniform for his "funeral at sea" in YOLT looks like a tuxedo on him. Sorry for Mr Beckham above, but there's more to being classy than just wearing an expensive 3-piece suit. You have to own it, more than it owns you.

Beckham does look like a schoolboy who was dressed by his mother the morning of school photos.

I have to wear suits a lot for work (I'm a lawyer) and I've always found Sean's wardrobe in the first four films to be a model of both classy styling and proper fit. This applies to his casual clothes as well as his suits. I just wanted to add one outfit that hasn't been mentioned yet. At the end of FRWL (the Rosa Klebb trying to kick him with the poisoned boot tip scene) he is wearing an absolutely great pinstriped suit.
I couldn't agree more. Sean's suits never really seem outdated to me in those early films. His casual attire as well looks suave as always. I tend to go a bit dressed up for work, though I don't own any suits, I have many sport jackets and blazers. I sometime use Sean's GF outfit when driving in Switzerland as a role model, or his TB look when attending the OO conference- blue blazer gray slacks.

I'm pretty sure Rog wears one in an episode of The Persuaders!, which means that by 1971 the things were still "in style"!

I've actually heard from various different sources that 3-piece suits are coming back in style. You can actually purchase a replica of the Goldfinger suit here: http://www.magnolicl...hiers-p-41.html
I believe they never left style. You just need to be careful with a three-piece cause it's a little too formal, so it doesn't fit everywhere.

... and it doesn't fit everyone. You have to be tall and lean to wear that. This looks just awfull on the guy in the pictures. Waistcoat goes too high; last button should be loose; jacket is way too long; etc.

Right! I forgot about that! If your belly is a little big then the three-piece is not for you.
I'm lucky though cause I'm tall and lean as Messervy said. Thank God!
