After seeing suicide squad and finding out Jai Courtney is really Australian I would have to vote for him, he would be great.

Not sure if you're being serious or not, but I watched him in Terminator Genisys recently and thought he was one of the worst actors I'd ever seen.

Unfortunately for him Jai's a kind of running joke in the talkbacks of a few big movie sites like AICN and /film. As in 'if you want to screw up the movie cast Jai cos he cant act for s***'.

Why Forsyth would be in-the-know about casting of the role is beyond me though.

I can think of one good reason - he's been in the spy thriller business longer than most of us have been alive. It's completely conceivable that he'd have rubbed shoulders with Cubby etc and still have a few connections.

Also, he sometimes does the msn/tv show political opinion circuit and whether or not one agrees with his pov, he's definitely a straight talking - no BS kind of chap. So imo he's a decent source.

I don't doubt he's still connected pretty good, and of course he would be a 'natural' if you want to ask somebody some fiction-spy related stuff - he probably leads this kind of conversations twice a day - but actual knowledge on the casting process, even of the kind coming with a 'Never!' in relation to one actor?

Phew, can't say that I see it. Has he been an authority on it before then?

For me it indeed reads as if the talk he was cited from was heading in a different direction and only steered towards 007 for the sake of the headline. News insofar would only be how one unnamed person - whom Forsyth considers to be close to Bond in unspecified ways - told Forsyth Hiddleston would never be chosen by BB. We've heard that before, if I'm not mistaken, only with less illustrious protagonists.

Just saying that he seems like a genuine fellow, so i'm not doubting he heard this nugget of gossip from someone he trusts. But since he's not necessarily claiming to have heard it from the horses mouth, whether the nugget be based on fact is another question.

No, I think he's the genuine article and convinced of what he says. But I wouldn't be surprised if this kind of talk is happening 50 times per hour in the city right now, probably even with names we haven't heard about yet. And a lot of it will come from reasonable no-nonsense people. It's got to be THE gossip topic of the season on every cocktail party.

After Hilary's emailgate, Ed Snowden's curious code tweet, the Labour party coup (UK cocktail parties only) and the Brexit of course ;)

We live in interesting times.

I want Craig back for one more. The delayed release date gives me hope it's still possible.

I guess Hiddleston was tested but Craig never was out. Since nothing is set Hiddleston has moved on.

I could see a Craig led Bond 25 being 'edgier' than SPECTRE, given the consensus seemed to be they were more reliant on the Bond formula there.

I don't know about that. Granted, there are numerous things that I would love to kick out of SPECTRE in a blink. But it seems others loved them, so they must have worked on some level. What I think most people can agree on is Waltz being underused and the story lacking inner logic re the various characters' motivations. For a film so long it's not really a good thing when you don't really know who does what why. A lot of this could have been solved easily; some of it could even have improved upon with relatively few changes. This is where I think BOND 25 will have to do better.

Well if Craig does return, but we wait longer for it, maybe it won't be so bad. It will give the production team and writers plenty of time to tighten the script. Although, more time could always go the other way and then there's more opportunity to pick it apart and over complicate it.

Given every film EVER has the studio demanding (often moronic) changes be made when they receive footage, I think that's something you're going to have to live with.

Well, wait for it, that's by no means a given. I think a lot of it can change once a new Bond has to be established. That's always been a good reason to follow up a debut with a second outing not too far away.

As indeed 5 out of 5 second Bond films in an actors tenure have.

Though in former times the 'three to four years' cycle of operations at Eon's end has not yet been established politics, that one took shape only relatively recently. But I still think once they have a new face to sell they will want to do it by keeping the new guy in the headlines.
