I for one would LOVE Jeffrey Wright to return in Bond 23. He's arguably the best Leiter since Lord.

For those who want him included, do you want his role to be large, or small?

I personally, want him to have a much larger role. ALSO a scene with him and Bond in office in New York. I typed up a quick scene.

Dialogue is off in parts though.

NEW YORK – DAY.

James Bond pulls up in his Aston Martin. He looks angry, but at the same time, content. He looks around warily. Suddenly, the car wind screen is shot out, Bond ducks at the wheel. The car door opens, Bond is thrown out onto the floor. Two masked men are standing in front of him. Bond gets up to retaliate – One of the men tasers Bond in the rib, Bond screams in pain. The other smacks his gun over the back of Bonds head, knocking him out cold. We see the ground, from Bonds eyes. Getting blurry – The screen fades to black.

INT: FELIX LEITERS OFFICE. DAY:

Bonds eyes open, the screen comes into focus. Bond is sitting in a large padded chair. He is in a very modern office, but still having a classic feel to it, Overlooking the city.

Bond rubs his head, wincing in pain. Bond sits up, and opens the top button on his shirt. At this point, a woman walks in. She is tall, blonde and very attractive. She offers Bond a drink.

BOND: Thank you.

He looks her up and down and smiles. She smiles back and walks out of the room. Bond follows her out with his eyes. Smiling at the sight before him. He takes a sip of the whisky he has been given.

The Door to the office opens. FELIX LEITER storms in the room, walking fast up to Bond:

FELIX: Why is it, the moment I hear the words ‘007 in New York’ the words ‘Urban Legend’ come to mind?

Bond gives a warm smile.

BOND: Hello Felix!

Felix’s serious look, turns into a playful grin.

FELIX: Hello James.

Felix takes Bonds hands and warmly shakes it.

FELIX: I hear your boss got busted?

BOND: Mmmmm. They think she was involved in the Haines assassination.

FELIX: My, My, My. News travels quickly. You’re all over CNN. You’re a traitor!

BOND: Allegedly.

Felix gives a chuckle.

FELIX: So, what brings James Bond to the city that never sleeps? Something keeping you awake?

Bond struggles to reply. We hear some of Vespers theme, Bond gets up out of the chair, and walks over to the window.

BOND: I hear Quantum has a branch in New York.

FELIX: And here’s me thinking James Bond was on vacation?

BOND: Call it a working holiday...

Felix smiles.

FELIX: Sorry about the business back there, brother.

BOND: Do you often taser your friends?

FELIX: Only when I have too.

Bond smirks, and looks at the floor, shaking his head.

BOND: Couldn’t you just ring me? And invite me in for a nice cosy chat?

FELIX: Call it professional courtesy. I felt that if Quantum are watching you, which they probably are. It wouldn’t harm taking you off their radar for a while. If they assume you’re dead or captured, the heat on you would probably die down.

BOND: I’m glad you think so.... Thanks for this, Felix.

Felix smiles, he starts to pace his office.

FELIX: Around a year ago. We uncovered a plot from the Bolivian government, offering Quantum nuclear missiles, on one condition. The assassination of President Obama. Fortunately, the mission was unsuccessful, thanks to us.

BOND: Hmmm. When I was at Haines’ estate, I overheard a conversation mentioning an assassination gone wrong, this must be it? Do you know where the branch is located?

FELIX: Probably.

Bond picks up his glass, and takes a sip of his drink.

BOND: You know Felix, you’re sitting on information regarding one of the worlds most dangerous and powerful organisations and you’re keeping it hush, hush.

FELIX: Not information, per say, I just have a hunch, and in my business, Hunches don’t get you very far. You need hard, solid evidence, and that we simply don’t have. James, I suggest you run, and never look back, go on vacation, come back when all the heat dies down, it’s too dangerous.

BOND: (Dismissive) We both know that won’t happen. (beat) Why haven’t you searched the building?

Felix lets out a sigh, and pours himself a drink.

FELIX: Oh, we have. But even though every single lead we have links back to that place, we can't find anything! No matter how many times we've raided it.

BOND: I think it’s time we paid this place a visit.

FELIX: I just got you off their radar. And you wanna shoot up the HQ?

BOND: I just want a look around.

FELIX: I can’t do that James, even I have boundaries. I can’t just automatically grant you a warrant.

Bond smiles.

BOND: Who said anything about a warrant?

A sly smirk appears on Felix’s face.

FELIX: What do you need?

INT: FELIX LEITERS OFFICE. DAY:

A Blue Print of the HQ is laid out on a table. Bond and Leiter are hovering over it.

BOND: You know this place off by heart?

FELIX: Pretty much.

The sound of a helicopter approaching. Bond runs towards the window, looking through the blinds. We see someone in the helicopter load a machine gun. Bonds eyes widen.

BOND: Felix...

Felix looking at the blue prints.

FELIX: Mmmm?

BOND: Get down...

FELIX: What?

BOND: GET DOWN!

Bond runs across the room, and throws himself and Felix to the floor. Gun shots shatter the windows, as the whole room erupts in glass. The alarm goes off in the building. Papers and debris are flying across the room. Bond and Felix stay down on the floor.

Bond goes for his gun.

FELIX; No!

He grabs Bonds arm. Bond falls back down to the floor, Bullets JUST missing his head.

FELIX: Stay down...

Bond and Felix lie on the floor. The man in the helicopter stops shooting. The helicopter hovers for a moment, and looks at the office which appears dead. The helicopter flies off.

Bond and Felix get up off the floor. Bond walks to the non existent window, and looks down at the 25 storey drop and see’s people running in terror. He looks into the sky, the alarm blaring in the background.

We fade too...

INT: NEW YORK STREET, BOND AND FELIX IN THE ASTON. DAY:

Bond and Felix pull up in front of a large skyscraper. It appears quite normal to the naked eye.

FELIX: VOICE OVER: Yeah, that’s it.

BOND: Thank you, Felix.

FELIX: Wait, something’s not right.

Bond looks at Felix, at the building, then back at Felix. Bond goes to get out of the car.

FELIX: WAIT! You’re not going in through the front?

Bond looks at Felix, at the building, then back at Felix. Bond smiles.

BOND: Absoloutly.

Bond gets out of the car.

I would like to see Fidele Barbey show up; P&W did have him in CASINO ROYALE originally.

As compared to his involvment in QOS, equal amounts of screen time with equal amounts of substance would suit me fine. With Wright in the role, Felix is one Bond tradition that needs to continue.

Not all tradition is bad.

More of Jeffery please. Same ammount of time as in QOS would be good for him. No more though. Less is more. Thats what I tells em.

Nah, Leiter doesn't need to be in Bond 23. The last thing the series needs is an obvious, steady continuity. I want Bond 23 to be a seperate adventure on its own. When the producers and crew say they look at the early 60s movie, it does beg the question, what the hell are they looking at?

I'd be more than happy to see Felix return;
Wright has done a pretty good job of fleshing him out so far.

I would like Jeffrey Wright to return as Leiter, but I don't think there is any need to expand his role beyond that of CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE. His screentime sufficed perfectly.

I think it's good for the films for Leiter to be there. Helps the realism as well since British and American intelligence do work together and it only makes sense he has an ally in the CIA. Not too much screentime though. The amount he had in QoS was fine, but maybe even slightly less would work.

I don't think that there's any reason for Felix to appear in BOND 23 unless Bond is headed back to South America, as Felix took over Beam's position in South America at the end of QUANTUM OF SOLACE. I'd prefer that we not repeat locations again in BOND 23 as we did from CR to QOS, and that should also mean no Felix in BOND 23 as well, as he just wouldn't fit.

Agreed. There is no reason for Felix to appear in Bond 23, unless it's simply for continuity, the popularity of the character or the popularity of the actor (on set and in the public's mind). I'd like to see Craig's Bond not need help from Leiter in the next one.

But I'd love to see Jeffrey Wright back in Bond 24.

YES, I would certainly like to see Felix in the next story, preferably in the size of a role that he got in the LALD novel.

(Who didn't see that coming?)

Felix is a tradition, yes, and I'm against tradition for tradition's sake, but Wright's an awesome actor and I can't imagine any Bond movie would actually be stronger without his talent.

I like him as Leiter for sure, a very under rated actor.
But he doesn't need to be in the next bond, maybe as a surprise cameo but nothing more. Possibly one phone call or a mention of him and the CIA but nothing more than the last two.
They need to start fresh, with some new faces or it becomes an expectation.

Oh and please no new Title of "Bond in New York" or "007 in new york" that's ridiculous, anyone who thinks that's decent should be shot.

No, Leiter doesn't need to be in Bond 23, but with Jeffrey Wright in the part, it's certainly not an issue that he is. As for the early 60s movies, the producers probably took note of Leiter appearing in three of the first four........

You're right, "spooks" don't run into each other on every mission, especially spooks from different countries. But let's say the Central Intelligence Agency finds out that 007 is on a particular case. They might assign Felix Leiter onto the same case due to their past experience working together. Am I fanwanking? Possibly. But one has to suspend belief when talking about the Bond films especially since they are centered around an agent that works for a fictional division of MI6.

Thank you! :)

Here I am. It's about time I weighed in on this even though all of you know what I'm about to say. :)

Jeffrey Wright as Felix Leiter MUST return in Bond 23 if the plot involves the United States of America or her interests. Since the UK and the US have similar interests, I don't see that being a huge issue.

What about Jeffrey Wright being Section Chief of South America? Does that mean Leiter can only return if the Bond 23 plot involves a South American country? In my opinion, a line or two of dialogue could explain another promotion or something that justifies why he's in the non-South American country he's in.

I don't think they should shoehorn Felix Leiter into the script just to utilize a brilliant actor like Jeffrey Wright but like I said, if United States interests are involved, Leiter should make an appearance.

If Leiter returns, I would hope that he gets more screen time than he did in Quantum of Solace because as we all know, Leiter's role was minimized in that film. Minimizing Felix Leiter's role in Quantum of Solace was a crime against Jeffrey Wright and fans of the character!

It's all fiction, isn't it?

But for storyline purposes, to me, it would just seem as though the producers would be leaning on Felix as a selling product. With the "New Adventures of James Bond" idea, Felix is a great tool for bringing the past to the current. There is grounds for continuity.

For me, again, I would like to see 007 out on his own, sans historical ties. Perhaps for Bond 24, an entrence for Moneypenny or Q, to keep teasing us along.

As for real spooks..... many have joined the ranks because of 007.

He's great, but they couldn't think of anything for him to do in Quantum (much like Bond, really) and to have them constantly bumping into each other would be rather silly.
