I want more Bond theme.

I was watching Moonraker today, and Barry used the theme sporadically, even then, but it still had a presence. I loved Arnold's reasonings for keeping the theme to a minimum in Casino Royale, but that is over now, we have Bond. While I know the Bond theme doesnt make a good Bond film, I think Craig really needs it blaring away while he does something cool, just to cement him as Bond.

A well put together PTS with a lowish key action sequence, not huge like the PB era but typical of Craig's era.
I'm all for more emotional baggage been added with new films but only the minimum of reflection over Vesper and very subtle as well.
These films are made for a mass audience and not just us fans and the mass audience wants this and they pay for the tickets, I want this. I don't agree with the idea of dumping the theme, I do agree on keeping it for special moments, it needs to be used carefully. Arnold rightly stated it can give you an idea he's going to triumph with no uncertainty but I think DC deserves a moment like that for Bond 23.
Daniel deserves his JB theme moment and then keep it like Barry does just appearing in diffrent arrangements when necessary with maybe one more big JB theme moment.

I’ve been kind of hoping that Arnold would do his on theme for Bond. Like Barry’s 007 theme, but something that’s uniquely Arnold’s.
We did hear glimmers of one in a few tracks of the QoS soundtrack, a few notes. Maybe we'll actually get a full one this time?

Does anyone actually know why Arnold didn`t use the Bond theme more? Was it`s absence due to Forster and/or the producers not wanting it?
As it`s already been mentioned, now that Bond is actually going to be Bond for the next film, hopefully we`ll see not only the Bond theme return, but I`m hoping Arnold will return to the 60`s version of it, as heard in the first four Connery films and OHMSS.

It is subtle but suprising just how much Bond theme is in QOS
Having said that, YEAH I want more actual Bond theme in 23

There are subtle elements of the Bond theme used in QOS, but I don`t know why Arnold didn`t use a fully fledged version of it during at least one action set piece in QOS.

I think it's mainly the reason I mentioned that Arnold feels the use of it takes away the uncertainty, he wants to keep it suspenseful and not obvious, I actually didn't mind the way it was kept at bay in CR & QOS.
I've given up on getting angry about Arnold, BB & MGW like him like they do P&W, might as well get on the train and hopefully enjoy the ride.
My opinion of Arnold during the PB era was not that great but I think that a lot to do with my distaste for PB's entries.
Where I won't mark DA's scores for both Craig's entries entirely successful unlike some I think he's done better work on these films than the previous PB entries, although this may more down to my hate for all things Brosnan.
I thought Arnold did a good job of the more low key ominous music in both films, I liked his music when Craig is using M's laptop to track his ellipsis lead, his subtle weaving on the JB theme into the score was good as well.
I noticed moments similar in QOS which pleased me but the Barry factor is missing although I think Arnold is a little cautious about making the score to catchy like Barry did because he doesn't want that triumphant sound that Barry so excelled at, yes he could do the atmospheric ominous strings as well but John Barry is a scoring god and Arnold a mere pupil of his sound.
Although when we get those horns in the Miami chase in CR when the huge plane appears It reminds of Austin Powers and just lazy scoring, Barry did it but it hadn't been spoofed so badly by The AP movies, Arnold should be able to kick out with something a bit more triumphant on his next score and then maybe will get a few toe tappers in there.

I'm probably going to get my head bitten off for this, but I actually HATE the Original Bond theme. It's just so dull. I'd rather have a good remixed Bond theme ala, Pursuit At Port Au Prince, than the original one back.

Agreed. I mean If you watch QOS for the 1st time (without having seen CR) apart from the fact they call him 007, Bond etc and he drives an Aston martin, you probably wouldn't know you were watching a bond flick... Almost
See, when I started this thread I was hoping generalizations like this wouldnt show up. Sadly I was wrong.
The Bond theme does not make it a James Bond film!

I still think the original arrangement is still the best and leaves all the Arnold up dates pale, Monty Norman may have wrote it but the genius is how Barry and his seven arranged it. Vic Flick's guitar
Listen to it, the version on Barry's 90's compilation Thememology has always been a personal fav, I used to drop into near the end of my set back in my DJing days. The arrangement is genius, sometimes I think people take it for granted and forget what a incredible tune it is.
It's the most iconic and famous film theme of all time, yes Star Wars as well that theme is so recognisable and it doesn't matter how many times it re-arranged backed with a dance beat or whatever that Arnold track your on about it will never feel that magical again.

I'm with you on this one. Since he scaled back use of the Bond Theme, I was hoping he would have created his own unique theme for Quantum of Solace. Outside of that, Craig does need one action scene where the Bond theme is played while he is doing something cool on screen.I’ve been kind of hoping that Arnold would do his on theme for Bond. Like Barry’s 007 theme, but something that’s uniquely Arnold’s.

I never said It makes it a bond film... it just helps set the bond mood and gives the movie an overall better feel about it

He created Christmas In Turkey, that was used in The World is not Enough and Die Another Day.
Also, he did create that cool little motif from The World is not Enough, with the piano, it was used in the track 'The Antanov Takes Off' on the Die Another Day soundtrack, too.

There's a part of me that would kill to see the return of the On Her Majesty's Secret Service theme. I don't think it would "cheapen" its impact in the original film. I remember there were rumours it'd feature in CR.
It did.

Having it blaring out as CraigBond is arriving to his foreign destination and going through the airport departure lounge, or checking into his hotel like the early Connery's. Unoriginal, maybe, but bring it on. Or as others have posted when Bond does something cool, I do like the bit in Spy when RogBond is sitting on top of the Surveillance camera in Liparus with the detonator to blow up the operations room and the Bond theme blares out.
I think we need to see it used in all it's glory at least once during Bond 23 and yes in a scene when we see Bond triumphant as Arnold thinks thats the only way it can be used.

Listen to 'Trip Aces'. It appears towards the end.
