As I think I've said (maybe even somewhere in this thread), at the end of the day I believe Sony will remain in the Bond business not matter what happens to MGM. Not just because Sony wants it, but I think Eon wants it as well.

But Fox does the Bond DVDs. Or do you mean Sony DVDs in general?
I'm not talking about home video anyway. I'm talking about the production ranks. From the outside, it seems Sony and Eon work well together. And Sony is a good studio.

Who ever released the pre-special edition DVDs for CASINO ROYALE and QUANTUM OF SOLACE, and designed their awful theatrical posters.

You forget that MGM did the same thing with the earlier Bond movies. They released most of them on a bare bones DVD, then the Special Edition DVDs than the Ultimate Edition DVDs. That is something EVERY studio is guilty of.

Why the hell didn't they make that the foundation of their poster campaign?

Like I mentioned in the other thread about this topic MGM released Quantum of Solace on DVD/Blu-ray though 20th Century Fox, Sony had nothing to do with the home video release of the film. I do want to ask what was the last Bond poster you liked? But Fox does the Bond DVDs. Or do you mean Sony DVDs in general?

In consecutive year?
Besides, nobody's answered my question about the posters.

The Living Daylights, and perhaps Goldeneye.

I have to agree with you. IMO TLD was the last really good Bond poster (although I do like the CR one as well). However you have been arguing that SONY is responsible for the poor Bond posters yet you don't like the last few MGM posters either.

Exactly, Jag.Of course this whole argument of liking or not liking a studio based on a DVD release or a poster is all rather silly. Clearly both MGM and SONY have been responsible for poor posters and DVD releases. I just want a studio that will treat Bond with respect and hurry up and get Bond 23 off the ground, and give EON the creative control they need.

I think it really boils down to those that like the series with Craig supporting Sony and those that preferred the Brosnan films against Sony.

Look, almost everyone believes -- and has for some time -- that this is going to be a busted auction at the end of the day...

Yeah, I always loved that AVTAK Eiffel Tower one-sheet as well. I remember the day I got the call from my buddy who Collectors Bookstore that the first AVTAK poster had come in. When he rolled that out before my eyes, I could hardly believe it. I'm going to go gaze at it right now, in fact.

(This poster discussion is good, but really belongs in another thread.)
Back on topic...
Deadline is now Monday. Here's what Nikki just posted.Look, almost everyone believes -- and has for some time -- that this is going to be a busted auction at the end of the day...
It wouldn't surprise me at all if the problems with this auction is that MGM can't guarantee the buyer Bond. The Bond deal is just so complex. Remember when Sony bought MGM, Bond was negotiated outside the main deal and after. Maybe all you get for your billions is the chance to sit down with Eon and plead the case why your company would be a good partner. But this is just a guess. Again, I sure this whole thing is just so incredibly complicated that even the people involved are somewhat in the weeds.
