Yeah, I'm like that.
P.S. - Credit to Zencat for turning me on to the Young Bond despite my initial protests.
003: No way. Screw it.
ZC: C'mon..It's cool.
003: I'll wait and see.
ZC: Give it a chance.
003: No.
ZC: C'mon.

I've read everything officially published by the IFP - Fleming/Mascott/Pearson/Amis/Gardner/Benson/Higson/Weinberg/Faulks, etc.
I've read the research and/or manuscripts of the first 5 authors, met/interviewed the next 3.
Guess I need to get off my butt and track down Faulks. Then again, there is this.

The official Glidrose/IFP Continuation Novels I have read*:

James Bond: The Authorised Biography by John Pearson: Y
Number of original John Gardner James Bond novels:9 out of 14 I just got bored with them. They are sitting on my shelf waiting for when I retire.
Number of original Raymond Benson James Bond novels:4 out of 6
Number ot Raymond Benson James Bond short stories (Blast From The Past, Midsummer Night's Doom, Live At Five):3 out of 3. But I have listened to the 2 I never read as audio books. Benson's are truly hard work. At least Gardner could write.
Devil May Care by Sebastian Faulks? Y But terrible. Another good author that can't write a decent Bond novel.
Number of Charlie Higson Young Bond novels:5 out of 5. Hugely enjoyable
Number of Kate Westbrook/Samantha Weinberg Moneypenny Diaries novels:3 out of 3. All you people who haven't read these get going. Truly the best continuation novels. Trust me.
The official tie-in novelizations I have read:
by Christopher Wood:2 out of 2. The best
by John Gardner:1 out of 2
by Raymond Benson:0 out of 3. But I did listen to DAD as an audio book. As always with Benson atrocious writing.

Faulks isn't a good author - he's a great author. Which makes DEVIL MAY CARE all the more bitterly disappointing. The greatest disappointment in Bond history, if you ask me.

Harms, what do you think of the Woods? I haven't read 'em but have always heard good things about them. Would you say they're truly worth it?
Loomis - Good Sir - The Wood bits are very well worth it IMO. Check them out if you can find them.

Mascott=N
Amis=Y
Pearson=Put me down for half.
Wood=2/2
Gardner= 12/16 (I find him hard to read. I've read through Death is Forever - including LTK. I look at his books on my shelf with a sense of foreboding.)
Benson=9/9 except his short stories. Additionally, I've read a number of his non-Bonds.
Higson=5/5
Moneypenny=1/3 (Technically, none. I actually just started reading the first one. I don't even own the other two, but I do have copies of the short stories which I also haven't read.)
Faulks=Y and I've read his non-Bond French trilogy - Birdsong being one of my favorite novels.

Yes, this is as good as any of Fleming's writing.
Loomis, the Christopher Wood novelizations are definitely worth reading esp. James Bond, The Spy Who Loved Me.
