Ooh, very handy! Thanks, terminus. :)

Exceptionally well done!
No chance you could do an updated version when the 2010 stories are in?
(cheeky devil request....) ;)

Glad you enjoyed - thought it would bring some more attention to some of the older stories too, which is always a good thing!

And of course I'll be updating it as more stories are posted.

IAN FLEMING'S CLASSIC BOND WILL HIT CBn ON CHRISTMAS DAY

And this ladies and gentlemen is the final design of the front cover of what I would have paid handsomely way back in the early fifties for my very last Bond ‘fan fic’story for CBn to look like.

Hopefully, you'll enjoy what'll come your way as much as I’m enjoying living (kindly read writing) it...

Harry Fawkes

Awesome, Harry - it'll be Boxing Day before I get to comment though, as it's XMas at the mother-in-laws this year.

Disappointed I wont have any more of your fine and developing prose....
Midas Gold was right up there for me. Certainly your most accomplished full length effort. Can't believe it's only rated 3-star...
Also considered Loneliness is a Lover a rather effecting short story, so I'm sure Charm the Devil will round things off nicely.
Can I persuade you to change your mind, Harry?

Terminus, thank you for your helpful index. Now, I have an answer to "who's tried a Bond Christmas story". As James has finally gotten himself out of danger (characters do have a life of their own), I am hopeful that I'll have something to add to your list by Christmas. No title as yet, but it has a crippled Bond, a beautiful girl from New York, the Middle East, a cruel villain and Christmas. Hope it meets everyone's standards or, if not, at least is a fun read.

Mine is done, now. Sort of a swan song, but I hope to leave you all with a few laughs. I'll post around Christmas, and give some feedback on everyone else's. It was fun staying up all night writing again, I missed it.

Thanks chrisno1. Very kind of you but as things are I doubt very much I'll have it in me. Looking forward to your piece.

Thank you Joyce. Yes, it will be my last Bond Fan Fic for sure (I feel I've gone where I wanted to go with Mr. Bond you see) which is why I am going to try hard and make Charm the devil something special (emphasis on try of course).

I'm doing things I couldn't actually do in my other stories and, as I've said before, I'm going to take Bond back to the good old days of the cold war, a couple of years down a notch from Casino Royale to be more precise (I can only visit this particular period once unfortunately so actually continuing after this novelette would also be out of the question for me).

But then, there are wonderful CBn Fan Fic writers out there who will be sure to keep the Bond Fan Fic thing alive (you most in particular).

Now then, I plan on posting a book cover that I am going to use to bind these short stories. Obviously the design is not mine. I'm going to 'nick' it for fun's sake so keep your eyes on this thread. I will be including the names of each writer on the front cover so if you don't want to appear in pseudonym please post a note with your real name (Example Harry Fawkes - Roger Mulvaney).

Just an idea I want to play around with that's all.

See you all soon

Harry

A Clink story alone makes this a success (and that's not to say anything against all of our other fine authors). I'm sorry to hear that this will be the last for Clink and Harry, but I think I understand. A lot of what I've been trying to get at I already did in my first effort and I felt what I did in my story in FYWR put most of what Bond I had on the table. I respect what writers like Bryce and Joyce can do in output, but I don't think I have that many Bond stories in me. That's not a retirement announcement just a description of why my efforts are few and far between. That having been said, I have a technical question. So far have people just been posting their stories on this thread or on the main thread? If, so far, it's just been here, shouldn't there be postings on the main thread so that the rest of the folks who read fan fiction can be aware that there are some Bond Holiday stories? I confess I've been off CB.net for a while, so I may have missed something. Either way, when I come up for air on my story (which I originally hoped to have completed last Christmas), I look forward to reading and discussing all the other fine work.

Understood on all fronts. The contributions will live on in the cyber world of CBn.

Harry - As "None Shall Regret" is soon to be hard bound, I'd been working on lots of cover art. Now with my work around these parts, both here in this thread and my own ToF's over the years based on my travels and even a few that have been done as a gift, if you will, to a few via PM, as you are to credit me, it's simply :

Whatever Title - A John Bryce Novel or Adventure by Charles Axworthy.

For those of you that have written Bond or included him in your own character's stories, I certainly raise a glass, salute and bow to you.

As to myself, 003 has been my alter ego since 1980 in role playing games and now here in fan-fic. Bond and 007 don't exist in my universe - Bryce couldn't take the competition. :D

However, by doing so and also including many of the truly wonderful characters based on my friends that I've made on CBn and hence actually met, I have found that it gives me a certain freedom in writing and, to a point, creative license.

As I press on with "The High Road", there will be some funny references to both the cinematic Bond and novels but won't be 003 recreating them, but most of it now is rather slow and narrative but there is one big action sequence and a glimpse into the secret life of a secret agent. They'll one big reveal about John Bryce.

No, he's not the bastard son of Sean Connery. Sorry to shatter your dreams. :P

Anyway, work continues and I have a lazy Wednesday of to which I'm dedicating to writing (the fun part) along with laundry and dishwashing (not the fun part) and giving all the pistols a check and cleaning them while sipping good scotch later in the day as I proof read the writing (the second fun part).

Cheers all!

COMING SOON

M, dressed in a double breasted grey suit, was standing by the wide window looking out across Regent’s Park, hands held firmly behind his back when Bond walked through from the anteroom.
‘Sit down,’ he said simply without turning.
No number, no name, Bond observed and sat across from the Admiral’s desk and his tall-leather armchair. He noted that there was only one file on the desk’s spread of fine red leather; a file bearing the words
NIGHTINGALEin large black print...
The room had, understandably of course, an old naval savour to it, with several canvases of great naval battles on the walls, not to mention the rather strong scent of vintage pipe smoke in the air...
After a rather long and uncomfortable moment of silence, M turned and came over to sit down at the broad desk.
There was a huge glass ashtray on his right from which he took his pipe and spent a few more tense moments lighting it. As he did so, he made a quick gesture with the lighted match for Bond to smoke if he fancied, and then, contented that the pipe had caught on, threw the box of matches in the glass ashtray and puffed away, regarding his agent closely through a dark cloud of smoke.
‘I’ve got a job for you, double O seven,’ he told him and the old sailor’s clear-grey eyes were cold, very cold...

Nice flavour there Harry. Two things always tipped off Bond to what was afoot.

The lack of greeting him by either surname or number, or addressing him by his first name.

Carry on. ;)

Best read up on Dreaming Of, kiddies, as its sequel will be arriving here December 24. Although there is bad news. The new story will be set after The Circle Trilogy. I'm vagueing it up like hell, but there are some spoilers to Method to Madness (apart from the obvious one: Joyce survives the trilogy (gasp!)). I'll leave it up to you to decide what you do with this. Sorry, I'm just having too much fun writing it.

“I want it to be me,” she interrupted. “And I think my reputation is exactly why they want it to be me, too. I won’t live it down unless I do this the way they want me to.”

Her heart jumped when he finally looked straight at her. “I thought you were done caring about your reputation.”

“I am. Which is why I’m doing this my way.”

Bryce better be careful with Santa Clause this year - he's being very naughty teasing me with bits of his new stories all the time. Reading them to me over the phone, actually - seriously, what a luxury! :D

Anyway, I just teased him right back a little. *motions to Bryce to keep his lips firmly together*

The edge on that teaser is sharp, bloody sharp. I am indeed looking forward to this one tremendously. I've been a fan of your work for some time now and A Right Christmas is going to be a very fine treat.

Hope all are well and busy typing away. Deadline is closing in, which means it will soon be time to pay the devil his due and come up with the goods so do please keep in there.

Joyce - my apologies for teasing you on with what happens. After speaking with you, I made a random call out to own lovely Gala Brand. She apologises for not being on the boards here more, but her university work is and has been taking it's toll on her time.

Stressed, but doing well and looking forward to the holiday.

My work continues and I'm just getting to the action bits.

This next week will be the clincher and the big reveal.

I've had to adjust my timeline what with the events of NQAH, so it takes place just after but a few days before Christmas eve.

Scotland, the Jaguar's secrets, Bryce's legacy as promised and hinted at, Gala Brand and some scotch. North and Harry get a nod too.

"Second star to the right and then straight on 'til morning." ;)

*cools off finger tips by passing a cold pint between hands*

Three hour marathon session of writing and proofing the major action.

A sequence that would make Vic Armstrong or Bob Simmons grin and want a go at it.

I've earned my supper and later, a good scotch. Damn if it hasn't gone on eleven pages at present.

There's some winks and laughs to be had as well. More to follow.

Maybe treat myself to Guido's later - BTW, Joyce: They still do that chicken breast in the mushroom and white wine sauce that you love. ;)

Heh-heh-heh....

Honed to a lethal edge...

I also found a pic I had tucked away depicting one of the characters. Perfection is an understatement and a bit of a tribute.

I've had two "laugh out loud" responses from several non-CBn members.

Also, as the story has ran on longer to the point where I had to cut it off, there will be a second part to tie it up before the New Year.

Title TBA.

Cheers!

Struggling a bit to get 'All The Trimmings' done - ironically, I've got the latter half of the story written, it's the first half that's giving me a problem.
