Well, what a great idea! Because it went so well when EA pulled that :(.

Seriously, a racing game? Rather than take all the great things from QOS, scrape away all the crappy things and develop toward a really good Bond game, they've gone for making another gimmicky game that'll rely on the license to make sales. My faith in Activison has dropped off the bottom of the scale.

This has QOS 2 written all over it. Yes, I'm sure it'll be a well made driving game with the PGR guys behind it. And 007 Racing is often chided for its lack of decent driving mechanics (I never played it because the idea of a Bond driving game is so teeth splinteringly awful) and this should have great mechanics. Yet QOS had the best action mechanics since GoldenEye, something the games had been crying out for since EA got their hands on it, and it still failed to make a mark simply because they rushed/ballsed up everything else (i.e level design, story, length...well, you played it).

If they start boasting about how they've got the "PGR engine" or anything I'm buying two copies of The Bourne Conspiracy. I will officially never be excited about a Bond game again*

*may not be true.

Damn, you guys really are up in arms about something you don't know anything about. This post is all over the place too. To paraphrase: "This game could totally be awesome, but I HATE IT." I love the analogy to 007 Racing which you never played and this game could be nothing like. All of this because they're not making the same damn thing year after year. Don't worry, your QoS sequel shooter will likely be out the following year. We already know Treyarch is planning it and throwing ideas around.

Can't wait. Never got 007 Racing.

I'm getting tired of Need For Speed on Wii.

Looking forward to it.

Hopefully they have some arial stuff like in YOLT or Octo or TND or Q0S.

I'm not saying it won't be good, but there is a much more limited scope with driving based games than on-foot games, the medium isn't particularly well suited to 007, and the whole thing does whiff of QOS a lot. The last two Bond games I was actually excited about before release were EON and QOS, and qhile QOS was kind of ok-ish, they were both bitter disappointments. Activision had their chance and they to convince me Bond was in the right hands and they blew it. Now they have to work very hard to win me back, but I can tell you, a driving game isn't the Bond game I've been holding out for.

I'm all for positivity, but as things stand there is just no reason to think this will be any good.

^ Now, you see, that is just such a good idea it could never happen. What could be better than wandering around the Casino Royale fron card table to roulette ect. freely playing any of the games in well designed mini-games. You know, LIKE BOND would. Its just a shame Activision seem to think gamers get twitchy if they have to go forty five seconds without killing something. Come on guys, GTA IV did it with the pool and stuff, ands it's not as if that game bombed. They did it succesfully in James Bond 007 on the GB for fricks sake, which is, tragically, still the most authentic 007 experience availible after GoldenEye. And GoldenEye gets it in a whole different way, with the FPS action and immersion. If you put the two together with next-gen tech WITHOUT fricking it up you'd pretty much have the mystical Bond game we've all been waiting for.

Still, a racing game. "great".

the way i would do it is Casino Royale would be a total free play location you would be there to investigate a member of Quantum you need to get intel on him and yuo can do that using stealth force or bribes (by playing games)

I had a similar idea. I'd have the game take place in several 'hub' areas from which you can choose from a selection of missions relating to that point in the story. For example, a portion of the game taking place in the hotel in the bahamas where you would have a selection of missions involving identifying and investigating Dimitrios, such as investigaing his local holdings and activites (to get some action in) sneaking into his house and investigating that way (stealth style) of making contact with Solange and geting info from her, with several missions involving destroying any local bases or forces he may have. You coul pick your missions depending on how you want to play, or pick all if you see fit.

Later you would use Casino Royale as a hub area and get your missions from Vesper or Mathis. Since the focus would be on building your funds and depleting Le Chiffres, you could freely play in the casino, and missions might include thwarting a last minute arms deal by Le Chiffre to gain money, Destroying property belonging to him ect. When you have depleted his funds and raised your own to a certain point you would then get through the next stage of the game.

But I suppose I'm fantacising again...

Sigh... maybe someday we'll get that game... it just might be called Alpha Protocol when we do.

Seriously though, a racing game is little more than a quick, easy way to milk some cash out of a license. In all the talk of our 'perfect Bond game', no one ever expressed any desire for a 007 racer. Activision really don't respect their audiences much.

Most ideas thrown around on this site are rehashes of other - likely better games just with the James Bond license. I mean lets be honest. A racing game merely shows that Activision is hoping to bring some variety to the license by using some of their best assets. I mean if you're going to go for a Bond racing game of some sort there's probably only one or two developers in the world you'd really trust with the job. Bizarre is one of them IMO.

I'll at least reserve judgment till at a bare minimum I see something. That's really what I don't get. You don't know anything about this game yet. But that's okay, there was a time when all these "fans" got together and told the world they were pissed off that a blond haired guy was going to be Bond.

I'm not really feeling this 007 Racing game. I don't see much variety in racing. Feels like they're already scrabing bottom of the barrel.

K1 , are you trying to say that a Bond game shouldn't try something ambitious? They way I read you , is that Bond games shouldn' even try to copy these much better games? That Bond developers should only produce the same 'ol same ol? Linear shooters and racing games.

When there's more to Bond than that?

Anyway I remain hopef... scratch that! I will just wait and see.

YKMN , I like your idea. They should make you the producer of their next game :(

i'm so sad !!!

Griffith said their next “James Bond” title has been moved out of 2009 and into early 2010, due to the impending release of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2″ later this year. The company believes sales of “Quantum of Solace” were impacted by releasing “Call of Duty: World at War” around the same time in 2008 and hopes to avoid the same issue with their next “James Bond” product.

That’s disappointing. On the positive side, hopefully they can produce a better game with the release delay.

from gamespot :http://www.gamespot....adlines;title;2

According to leaks from a closed-door event, the next game based on the venerable film franchise will be an original, vehicle-focused game from Bizarre Creations.

I don't think this Bond game is going to be a racer anymore. I think it may just involve vehicles like Everything or Nothing and From Russia with Love. If Bond was strictly a racer then it wouldn't have to worry about Call of Duty. The fact that they're worried they may compete against each other a la QoS and World at War suggests this upcoming Bond game will be a regular shooter of some sort.

Also, I'll admit right here, I'd buy the upcoming Infinity Ward developed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 over the upcoming Bond game. One series is on fire, the other... well it's been lacking for a long time.

After a banner 2008, looks like 2009 is going to be a bust for the Bond fan. No new movie. No new book. No new game.

Why are there always delays? Activison will release COD: Modern Warfare 2, so they don't want to release both games at the same time. It would be a better idea to push COD6 to 2010 than the new Bond game because some gamers are waiting for a new Bond experience!
The COD games are always the same so why publish a new title every year!? I think the new Bond game is more exciting than the new Modern Warfare.

haha.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - 10+ million copies
Call of Duty: World at War - 7+ million copies
Quantum of Solace - 1+ million copies

Which game's sequel would you choose to sell for the holiday season? Besides, the more dev time, the better the game. Why rush it. Nothing is wrong with a delay.

I'm playing World At War now & it's a very good game. This is definitely the franchise raking in the cash for Activision. On the plus side, hopefully this will mean a better Bond game.
