Me, naturally. :(

But in all seriousness, someone really capable. They don't have to be a great dramatist, necessarily, but a good thriller writer with a decent sense of character would be appreciated.

Eric Roth (THE INSIDER, MUNICH, THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON) might be worth a look. Tom Stoppard (BRAZIL, EMPIRE OF THE SUN, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE) was rumored for BOND 22. And they could always return to Jeffrey Caine (GOLDENEYE, THE CONSTANT GARDNER).

After the shambles that was THE CONSTANT GARDNER I hope we've seen the last of Caine. Although, I do appreciate, of course, that it's often not the (credited) screenwriter's fault when a flick goes tits-up.

Frank Darabont. Carries the prestige of Haggis, his unused Indy script is a pleasure to read and has some brilliantly inventive action that Koepp chucked out. The Mist is one of the best horror films in recent history and the man writes some damned good dialogue.

Haven't watched The Mist yet, but I also found Indy & the City of the Gods to be a delight to read (I enjoyed more reading it than watching the Koepp written version). Also a rather exciting dogfight in that one (as in QOS).

A movie begins with the script. If the script isn't good, the movie will be problematic no matter how well produced or directed.

The scripts have been disappointing since the passing of Richard Maibaum (with whom I corresponded). At worst, the work of Purvis and Wade has not been up to a professional standard. Their writing is pedestrian at best (sorry). It is past time to move on from this association.

The Bond films are in dire need of good writing and one consistent voice in the writing. A seriously talented writer should be given sufficient time to craft a Bond screenplay without being micro-managed or second-guessed.

I suggest one of the following writers be considered:

David Koepp
David Mamet
Christopher Nolan
Tom Stoppard

As long as its not Purvis & Wade I'm happy!!!
