My vote goes to Danny Boyle. Based on his films 28 Days Later and Sunshine(and considering the fact that his newest film, Slumdog Millionaire, is getting rave reviews), I think he has potential to make a great Bond film.

I couldn't agree more. He should be the man they offer it to. If he is unavailable or not interested though, I would give Matthew Vaughn a call. :(

Could be an interesting choice, so long as he doesn't take it *too* far (flashbacks of that Inspector Morse episode with the raving - one of the few episodes I didn't enjoy).

Chucking some other fellow mainstream Brits into the mix:

Chris Nolan - No brainer really, EON probably won't pursue him because of his work on Batman - but they really should try - he is a big fan afterall! He probably needs a break from Batman anyway (although I believe he might already be signed up for the next installment)

Mike Newell - Did a fine job on Potter 4, and can certainly do the lighter stuff as witnessed in four weddings and a funeral.

Edgar Wright - Well, it would be fun if nothing else. Hot fuzz, Spaced and Shaun of the Dead have all been blasts. I'd like to see him attempt something other than pure comedy.

Who I'd really like to see: Peter Jackson (another Bond fan). Sadly he's all Hobbit/Tintin'ed up at the moment.

Oh Jesus not him ! He is such an overrated hack. He makes bloated, wannabe, epic films with mostly filler.

Each to their own. I think he'd give Bond an epic feel which has been missing ever since Ken Adams left the scene. I guess your arguments are solely based on Kong/LOTR movies. To which I'd say what about Heavenly Creatures or the Frighteners? Lovely Bones looks awesome too, despite a difficult subject matter (it's a very good book).

Given the fact that both those films you mention came out before LOTR and Kong suggests he is probably going deliver another bloated so called "epic" for Bond.

My picks:
Christopher Nolan
Easily one of the best directors working, just look at what he did with Batman, turned it from being a dead, rotting corpse to being huge, billion dollar huge!
Nicholas Meyer
Hasn't done anything big in a long time (will be 17 years next month), but what he directors has a unique stamp on it, just look at what he did with Star Trek. Plus, he came very close to directing TND, where he was an uncredited writer and even came up with the title.
Mike Newell
There's something about Mr. Newell that's very British, I don't know what it is, but if you look at his work he just brought something that those films needed, just a feeling that's hard to describe. But with that film, he showed he can do a big budget franchaise film and still make it unique.
Brad Bird
Yes, the guy who did The Incredibles, but hear me out: with that film, he basically made one of the best superhero movies ever. It had a great story, big heart and all the action and visuals were incredible (pun intended). Plus, he's starting to direct live action now (I think he's doing something about an earthquake sometime next year).

Or, why not give these guys another shot:
Roger Spottiswoode
He was the one who directed my favourite of the Brosnan films, plus in recent years he's done some more emotional based stuff that the Craig films need.
Martin Campbell
Remember Casino Royale.

-John Irvin

-Olivier Megaton

-Michael Hazanavicius

-Louis Leterrier

-Chuck Russell

-John Boorman

-Roger Spottiswoode

-John Woo

-Christopher Nolan

I think they are not only bad for Bond, they are bad are directors.

I don't think much of Bird in animation but I have yet to see his live action work. Very few have managed to be interesting in live action and animation and I honestly doubt Bird will be one of them.

QOS is a brilliant film! You can watch it over and over again and still get something out of it for the zillionth time! This film will be hailed along side OHMSS as an all time bond classic (my top 5 for sure) Marc Forester did an excellent job ... the pacing is just perfect! Nothing outstays its welcome!

From the amazing start over the lake with gilnts of the aston to the perfect final line 'I never left' this movie delivers! If Marc and crew did this with a script that was in flux ... what would they have done with a completed script? Bring Marc back for bond 23!

5. Philip Noyce

Honorable Mention: Martin Campbell--He can direct my Bond film any time.
