Good news!

I hope there is more 4 or 5 James Bond movies with Craig!

Well if the 2011 date is a target, that most likely means they will MISS the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

I was hoping for them to release a film during the 50th anniversary myself.

Indeed. But it could be a good thing, we dont want another DAD esque film do we?

Maybe if QoS does really well they'll get one out in 2 years, but I'd rather them take the time to craft a strong story rather than rush another one out just to turn a profit.

Eh? Back in the 60s we were getting Bond screen plays, hell Bond films annualy and although they had the books as reference, it's not as though they adhered to the books not even at 70%. In today's age, we have enough talented writers to pen scripts that could easily give us a Bond film by the end of 2009 if the studio really wanted but 2010 makes more sense these days as we don't want Bond overkill. Bare in mind that, as great as QoS was/is, I think it could have been better had there been no writer's strike to contend with.
Additionally, Craig is Bond's biggest asset by far, he's the star attraction and I'd hate for the producers to send craig the way of Roger Moore (age-wise). Craig is 40 now, by 42 he could easily have done 3 Bond movies and by 45 do his 4th and maybe then leave OR squeeze in 1 more by 47. The producers need to understand that, they need to get as many movies out of Craig as they possibly can because he won't be doing them forever and having him look too old in the role isn't gonna help. Striking while the iron is hot applies here. However, if Wilson gets his 2011 release for Craig's 3rd outing, then I'm certain that Craig's 4th will be his obligatory last.

I was hoping for another in 2010 and then one in 2012. It seems stupid to miss the 50th anniversary. No other franchise has this and the media attention would be huge for such an occasion. It's the ideal way for Craig to complete his 4 films with the anniversary in 2012 and then leave to make headlines and guaranteed box office for a new Bond in 2015.

What I am a little concerned about is the year 2011. That is three long years of waiting! I just can't go through 3 years without a new James Bond film with Daniel Craig in the leading role! I just can't!
Let's hope for 2010 everybody!

I'd rather they took their time and did it right, and not rush things for a 2010 release. Saying that both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace both began filming at the start of the year in which they are released. So if they start work the beginning of next year that gives then a whole year for script, and preproduction work 2010 should be achievable.

They waited 3 years for DAD :( Also as I understood big actioın scenes took alot of time. The boat chase for example in QOS was too much I think. If they can use the time good they can even have Bond 23 in 2010.

However if 2011 summer is the target, than 2012 winter for Bond 24 is a must. Just finish the ending with "brainwashing" in Bond 23 and the final countdown begins for Quantum.

I feel as though MGW is just giving a frame of reference, so as not to say one date and then have to renege at a later date. Honestly, it's far too early to even be making predictions for number 23, as Quantum of Solace has only just been released. He seems to be saying once a script emerges, they will obviously have a better understanding of the release date.

I could easily see Bond 23 taking until 2011, however, I could see it coming out earlier if everything comes together. We shall see.

I think they certainly deserve a year off to catch their breaths.

I wouldn't be at all suprised actually. I think Wilson is just saying it to cover his back. So If the 2010 plans fall through, he can switch to 2011 instead.

They should make Bond 23 and 24 at the same time how Jackson did for LOTR. Release Bond 23 in mid 2011 and Bond 24 at Christmas 2012 to cooincide with the year of the 50th Anniversary. Come on MGW, start on the 23rd and 24th now, play hard just for the next 4 years and then take an extended break. Damn, there I go dreaming again...

It's a possibility. But, Wilson has confirmed that work will start early 2009, So I really do think that we will get Bond 23 in 2012. Like I said before he's just covering his :).

2012? You mean, actually a 4-year-wait?

Don´t think that would be wise.

Although they could release at least three special edition DVDs of QOS in that time... :(

I agree that Wright's Leiter isn't Fleming's Leiter, I think he's a fantastic character in his own right, and far more cool/interesting than any version of the character that has existed, including Fleming's. I hope we get to see more of him in future Bond flicks, because he's the man. :(

Yes ofcourse he's the man. But I dont want to see him in every 007 film. Why cant he take a break in Bond23 ?

007 is a British agent, and UK had many colonies espacially in Africa and Asia. And Africa is something like never used.

I agree but he does share one of the literary Leiter's traits, some his disdain towards his own government. Anywho, give me Wright's Leiter any day.

To me Wright is just wrong. His character looks like a pencil pusher, not a field agent.

How does he look like a pencil pusher ?

You know, irregardless of what I have read here, let's just hope that Bond 23 comes out at the end of 2010. Two years is more than enough time if they have a good idea of where they want to go next. I hate the three or four year waits.

I want Craig to do more than 3 films, he deserves to. I hope the age thing doesn't become a factor, though.

Interesting point sharpshooter. Well, he is 40 now, so by Bond 23, he will be 43, and then if they make his fourth in 2013, then he will be 45. He will still look good, and will probably go out in style at that point. I wonder what state of mind the character will have by then?

I don't mind the 3 year wait if they're going to make something great. Of course, I'd prefer it if they said they are aiming for a November 2010 release date!

I saw Daniel Craig interviewed on Rove on Sunday night, and when Rove asked him what is the plan for the next one, he said "Nobody has really thought about it yet".

The 50th anniversary of the Bond film series is something that cannot go unnoticed.

Only for merchandising and that's it. Release some 50th anniversary crap and be done with it. Leave it out of the films.

Agreed. I was thrilled that they passed up the marketing opportunities that the year 2007 would have afforded them, and I certainly wouldn't mind if they pass up the 50th anniversary as well. I'm more interested in seeing good films than I am at having the entire production schedule put in place a certain way for the sole purpose of having a certain marketing strategy.

Indeed. I think Lee Tamahori felt under pressure to include lots of memorabillia and references to past Bond films when making DAD and look what happened there!
