BoogieBond, I am a Haggis fan, too (Million Dollar Baby, Crash, In the Valley of Elah). And I do think that he was a good influence on CR and QOS. However, I would really like to know what exactly he did. I don´t consider Purvis & Wade talentless devils (as so many here like to do). They just don´t have the BIG name of Haggis.

Whatever PH did--and I suspect he did a lot--it'll be much trickier to even guess with QoS. Here we have PH rewriting a P&W script...then being rewritten by a new writer with a little help from MF. None of that means the script or film will be bad. Only that if the film's not up to snuff...where can we point a finger?

Wow! With Wilson stating Bond 23 is being developed from January 2009 on, this could very well mean that we will get the film in 2010. So, no planned three year gap anymore.

I hope so. Three years is too long a stretch for my "new Bond film" appetite, and it would also preclude celebrating the Bond films' 50th anniversary with a new addition to the series.

I'd rather wait an extra year and get a GREAT BOND movie, than get one ever year or every other year that is sub-par.

I think for the story they should use the original Moonraker novel story with elements from the you only like twice and diamonds are forever books, brilliant film would that be :(

Glad to see EON won't be fannying around beween QOS & Bond 23, and that they are very keen to keep Daniel. Whilst it's no great surprise to see them bigging up 'their man', I do get the distinct impression that there's something extra special about Wilson & Broccoli's relationship with Craig....something not evident with previous Bonds.

That would be because Craig is the first actor since Connery that has really been universally respected in and out of the role of 007.

Pervis & Wade will be dropped from Bond 23, also I think Paul Haggis won't return either.

Sounds like new people could be coming in. It would be nice if they use the unused material from some of the Fleming novels, but somehow I think it will be unoriginal again. But we'll see, I just hope they get a great writer this time.

I agree. Craig is arguably the best actor to portray the role to date and I'm sure EON are in no doubt that they have a very vuluable asset on their hands...an asset who could go on to become the greatest Bond of all time. But maybe it runs a little deeper than that? Perhaps the whole CnB witch hunt cemented not only a solid professional relationship between the three, but also a very personal one?

This is good news, hopefully they will take the time to write a solid script and avoid setting a release date so they won't have to feel rushed in finishing it. :(

It depends what you consider sub-par. I haven't seen anything to suggest QOS will be such, and its style and narrative in NO way indicates what the next film will be like.

I'm not sure if this would really indicate the end of the Purvis/Wade scripts. Some writers kicking around some ideas to me rather sound like a kind of brainstorm. The product of this session could well be the raw material for a script that is penned by somebody else in the end. That could be again Purvis/Wade, Haggis or somebody entirely new to the series. In my opinion it would make sense to try and get fresh ideas from outside while keeping the decision who will write the script a little longer open. If they don't feel safe with the outcome they can always fall back on their usual suspects.

True. We can only wait. I am kind of hoping B23 will be a stand-alone.

Casino Royale was great and so far QoS is shaping up to be a masterful film...unless of course you've already made up your mind based on the reviews.

TY for the update :)

Producer Barbara Broccoli told Heart, “I think she’s a spectacular actress and she’s done an amazing job in this movie. She blew us away. We would certainly love to have her back. If it’s not in the next movie, then certainly in the future.”

I don't like the idea of seeing Camille back...I thought they said they completed the Vesper angle here. What's going on? :(

Quantum
to come back yes; Camille no
IMHO

P&W dropped, I SO hope that is true! I think whoever writes should be American. Americans write better for Bond somehow.

Seriously, you really think Camille will be back? They say that with every film that comes out! Back in the days Jeroen Krabbe kept saying in interview that the producers wanted to bring back his character. When Michelle Yeoh turned out to be one of the best Bond-girls the series had seen so far, the rumor was that she was going to guest star in the next one. And then Halle Berry's Jinx was going to have her own spin-off.

So Camille back? I wouldn't count on it.

I'm still hoping Paul Greengrass will direct Bond 23. P&W can go, they're okay but I'm not a huge fan of theirs. And now that the "two-part" origin story is done, I'd love for them to bring back the gunbarrel opening. And Q, and Moneypenny, but in a smart way. I can live without the "Bond, James Bond" and martinis.

So far, in the reboot, there's no mention of Bond's Navy connections, right? Maybe that could pop up in 23?

I doubt it. Greengrass isn't too fond of Bond as a character, and has a franchise of his own with a character he does like. Furthermore, I doubt EON really wants to invite even more "The Bond Supremacy" comments.
