Whenever I read Gardener's Bond Novels, I always see either Roger Moore or Tim Dalton, Is this deliberate. Seafire especially I see Moore.
SEAFIRE POSTER I MADE:

And Scorpius I see Dalton.
However these are the only two Gardener Books I have read, I still see these Actors verry clearly, their style and their way of doing things, Is this deliberate?

I'm one of the weird ones who sees Rog when reading a Fleming though, so perhaps you should pay no attention to me.

Now, when I read them, I see . . . . dead people!
No, really, I don't see anyone specific.

Another question: Who was Bond's gardner?
Miles Snodgrass. He was a smallish man who had a large nose to Bond suspected to have homosexual tendencies. He gave Bond a good deal on his services because he always had this fantasy to mow Bond's lawn.

I just picture the shadowy undefined figure that I always pictured when reading Fleming or any Bond book....
Actually, I picture a shadowy Bond figure too, but not the same as when I'm reading Fleming. Weird.
Though, I pictured the Fleming-Bond shadowy figure when reading Colonel Sun.

From 87-95: Dalton hands down.

So most of the time, I picture a weird hybrid of the 'shadowy-mystery-man' and Roger Moore.
However, when he said "I saw a Jane Fonda movie once..." when talking about nuclear meltdowns to Anton Murik, I could practically see Sir Roger's mole.

I don’t know why. Every other author’s Bond to me was closer to CBn’s Bond, but Gardner’s was always more like the Agent Under Fire Bond.

This guy looks nearly dead on to how I imagined Gardner’s Bond:
I don’t know why. Every other author’s Bond to me was closer to CBn’s Bond, but Gardner’s was always more like the Agent Under Fire Bond.
Yeah, that's a fairly accurate description of how I'd picture him as well, except maybe with different hair.

I got the feeling that Bond is a moody character. I stopped reading the novel because it felt a bit dated.

Yep, I see Pierce Brosnan too when I read Gardner.A generic thriller hero who had been named 'James Bond' for contractual purposes?

But he sure as hell wasn't Ian Fleming's...

Maybe Gardners Bond was also a shadow?

A pale shadow, certainly...

Hm... it's strange, but I always see Pierce in my head when reading a Gardner. I just read The Man From Barbarossa a few weeks back and I was definitely seeing an older Brosnan with a hint of gray at the temples in every scene.
I'm one of the weird ones who sees Rog when reading a Fleming though, so perhaps you should pay no attention to me.
I'm agree with you about Pierce in Gardner's books. But when reading a Fleming...I see Sam Neil. You MUST pay no attention to me !

Ditto.I just picture the shadowy undefined figure that I always pictured when reading Fleming or any Bond book....
Yeah, that's interesting Mr. A. That IS very much how I see the "Bond of the books."This guy looks nearly dead on to how I imagined Gardner’s Bond:
I don’t know why. Every other author’s Bond to me was closer to CBn’s Bond, but Gardner’s was always more like the Agent Under Fire Bond.

I always see it as if Fleming's Bond was analogous to Bruce Wayne/Batman then Gardner's would be similar to Frank Miller's Batman from Dark Knight Returns. Still the same guy, but a about 40 more years experience, he's got his spying and combat skills down even more tight than he used to and he's more at ease with his role.
