Seems that Another Way to Die is out there, the Guardian have this short review of it:

http://www.guardian....rock.aliciakeys

Bond is back (again), this time with a proper theme. Quantum of Solace gets a White-penned Southern rock'n'soul potboiler, with the Memphis Horns and two feline vocals helping recall the franchise's musical golden days. Sings Jack: 'I know the player with the slick trigger finger for Her Majesty ... ' Sings Alicia: 'Another one with the golden tone voice and then your fantasy ... '

Those Lyrics have got to be a Joke

Do people not believe in things like "context", or "delivery" or "actually listening to a song BEFORE judging it"?

Sometimes the stupidy of people baffles me.

I'm sure if you took half the Bond songs and took a line or two from their lyrics and quoted them here out of context, they'd seem like a 'joke'.

You gotta love it when someone on here judges a movie or song BEFORE having experienced it!

Not.

Some of the greatest James Bond songs have a doozie or two in them, after all.

Yes, yes, we know the Brosnan era lyrics were so much better. :(

Really, though, I generally don't pay attention to any Bond song's lyrics. Don't like more than a line here or there. Doubt AWtD will be much different.

First I thought: this must be a joke. Then I decided that either way lines like this are all over Bond themes ("he's the man with teh midas touch", "he runs when other men just walk", "Goldeneyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eyeyeyeyeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee").

I wonder what would have though those who think this 'lyrics' sounds strange back in the 80's if there have been something like: 'Sings a-Ha 'Hey driver, where're we going?' ' :(

I just want to hear it, I can't judge something by its components, the whole is what matters.

Why so shocked? AVTAK's one of the best but that line takes the cake.

Hey, it could be worse. If Ace of Base had their way, we might have been stuck with "We're in the 90s." :)

But I'd still prefer it to Tina Turner's version. :(

Still cling ing to reasons to knock Craig's era CM, you really are like a dog with a bone, no one is going to take anything you say with a pinch of salt.

You are a bitter Brosnan fan who hasn't got his own way, picking up on daft Bond lyrics, god all the Bond lyrics are daft. White is playing homage to that tradition.

This will be the best Bond theme in 20 years I'm positive, considering the garbage (sorry another pun there) the Brosnan era gave us you should keep your mouth shut about the standard of themes.

"I'm in a puddle on the floor"

Well get a mop & bucket love and clear it up

I thought that review was continued elsewhere. Defeats the purpose of writing a review if it's so short.

White-penned Southern rock'n'soul to recall the franchise's musical golden days ?
The Bond golden days sound never included Southern rock'n'soul ,let me e-mail Barbara and Michael to remind them.

Sings Jack: 'I know the player with the slick trigger finger for Her Majesty ... ' Sings Alicia: 'Another one with the golden tone voice and then your fantasy ... '

I haven't a clue as to what any of that means.

Yeah, Bond songs have never really been Shakespearean in terms of lyrics. Quite the opposite actually.

Except that's not what it says. It's the horns and vocals that "help recall the franchise's musical golden days."

Why are the Craig movies being "married" with out of date and out of touch grunge/rock songs? Isn't Jack White just a tad 2003? That Coke ad sounds like a bad MUSE outtake from ten years ago. This out of touch/date grunge rock all seems like a really forced and desperate attempt to emphasise Craig's manliness, which for some reason someone seems to think is lacking...

Couldn't they have just had a nice Alicia Keyes song? Aren't they supposed to be in the business of selling records? :(

Sings Jack: 'I know the player with the slick trigger finger for Her Majesty ... ' Sings Alicia: 'Another one with the golden tone voice and then your fantasy ... '

You've said it! It's Sheryl Crow all over again complete with obvious references to Bond's trademarks (martinis, girls and guns anyone?). I said it before and I'll say it again, why do they allow these "stars" to actually write the bleeding songs. Hire a proper lyricist and composer, they way it used to/should be.

Or "Arm yourself because no one ese will save you" or whatever it was.

It makes it even worse that these are intended to be serious "rock" songs. With all the direct Bond references/plot exposition/preaching it comes off like really uncool Christian rock.

Exactly the reason that I have fantastically high hopes for this song. The man is one of the greatest musicians of his generation.
