Remember this isn't too bad for us. The Potter folks now have to wait till next summer and they just got a teaser with coming this November plastered at the end. Things could be a whole lot worse.

Lame. At least it's only on week, and not six months.

Wow, damn you, Harry Potter!

A two week difference is pretty bold - will piracy take its grip during that time?

Ahhh...not too bad I guess. At least now there will be no repeat of Happy Feet since Madagascar 2 has the weekend to its self now. With no Potter even better, this has a very good chance of being the top grosser this fall. Mark my words, this will be the first Bond movie to crack $200 million+!! :(

If they advertise the damn thing...With CR, I swear, I could count the number of trailers I saw prior to the release on 2 hands. Don't get me wrong, They don't need James Bond M&M's and Cereal, but a little bit more advertisement and product placement would be nice

Eh, I'm down in Australia (Nov 27) so I'm all for being at a more even date to the American release date. Less spoilers to avoid.

I don't believe they'll give us in the UK the film two weeks before the US... so surely there'll be a move at this end as well - although thanksgiving is meaningless here.

Didn't the press release state no other date changes for other countries? Surely they would have announced any other changes at the same time? The only reason it's moved in the States is to increase it life-span towards the Christmas period and to avoid some opening weekend competition with Madagascar 2.

Sucks for US fans, but now they can feel the pain that the Australian Bond fan must endure. They can be brought down to our level, it'll suck for both of us! :(

This was inevitable. For a while now they've been trying to find some breathing room not being used by superheroes, boy wizards, or zoo animals on the lamb. I can wait another week if it means they'll get more bragging rights out of the now surely better gross.

I'd be surprised if they don't movie the UK release date back a week as well. Keeping the premiere two weeks ahead of its opening in the single biggest market might be a recipe for piracy trouble.

As much as I want our CBn friends of the UK to see the film ASAP, I dread the thought of a 2 week waiting period for us in the States. Hopefully (sorry) the UK release gets pushed back as well.

Piracy will run rampant if it's not...

Us Brits had to listen to your views on Dark Knight a week earlier and yes it a bit unfair but I'm find it quite funny, there was a day when we had to wait months for releases after the U.S.

Zodiac was good 3 months before we got it, you'll just have to stay off the forums for a few weeks if you don't want spoilers thats all.

The release dates have been changed to take advantage of the holidays in the States, we don't have such things to worry about, so 31st it will be.

The only release date change is applied to North America only. A UK date change won't happen.

What this does is it gives the studio a CLEAR shot of OPENING number 1 in the US.

Remember, Madagascar 2 (the sequel to the 2005 hit which genereated more US box office than DAD and CR) was scheduled to open on the same day. And experts thought that the same thing that happened to CR in the US (i.e. "James Bond 'beaten' by penguins") would happen to QOS (i.e. take second place to another dreaded animated American kid pic).

This move means that not only will there be the lay-up of generating more box office but that James Bond is guaranteed to open Number 1, thus providing further advertising fodder.

In addition, it gives QOS a very good shot of retaining the Number 1 spot on the 21st weekend...and possibly bring in a further big haul on the US Thanksgiving weekend 26th-30th (and possibly Number 1 three weeks in a row!)

:(

One week? Slightly disappointing, but not a huge deal. After all, better it's only a week and not a much longer period.

You... Poor, POOR American people. I guess you will have to wait yet another week. I bet England is going to have a slight increasment of yanks come October, wanting to see the movie early. :)

No! Now I have to change the plans I had set for November 7. :( Grrr. Why does the UK have to release the movie so early, and so late in the US just because of some other non-Bond related movie?

Well, at least there are two bright spots in this. First, the movie now has a solid chance of opening at number. Second, all that time I won't be on the internet trying to avoiding spoilers, I'll be watching my own Bond marathon that just got extended by a week. :(

Fox has now moved Baz Luhrmann's Australia back two weeks. The film was originally scheduled to open opposite Quantum of Solace, which now has an open path to box office victory.

Amazing how one release date change sets this domino effect in place.

Good news for Quantum of Solace though!
