As we all know, a lot of fans have combined the iTunes files with the commercial CD of Casino Royale and made a 2CD score set. However, the commerical CD is missing a few seconds of music in some cues. The alternate versions of Stairwell Fight and License: 2 Kills are also not included (prepared for the PG-13 cut). And the film version of the theme song we all know and love is not on any disc anywhere.

Well for the sake of archival/research reasons, I present to you the tracklist to the 2CD Ultimate Edition score that I got yesterday. Sterling sound quality, no sound effects, the film versions of the theme tune and every single piece of music (including stuff missing from the commercial release). Its a real treat and features the score as heard in the movie. The re-ordered iTunes/commercial CD mixes just aren't as good!

CD ONE

1. Double-O Status (2:39)
2. You Know My Name (Main Title, Film Version) (3:18)
3. LeChiffre (1:27)
4. Mongoose vs. Snake (1:18)
5. Bond Gives Chase (1:09)
6. Smashing Entrance (0:52)
7. Mollaka Hunt (5:30)
8. Nothing Sinister (1:30)
9. Push Them Overboard (0:30)
10. M's Computer (1:10)
11. Blunt Instrument (2:24)
12. CCTV Footage (1:33)
13. Solange (1:02)
14. Waking M (0:42)
15. Two Hours Late (0:45)
16. Trip Aces (1:29)
17. Tracking Dimitrios (5:53)
18. Airport Espionage/Chasing Carlos (6:50)
19. The End of Carlos (0:39)
20. I'm The Money (0:29)
21. Aston Montenegro (1:05)
22. Looking The Part (1:55)
23. The Tell (3:25)
24. The Inhaler (0:29)
25. Stairwell Fight (4:14)
26. Comforting Vesper (1:47)

CD TWO

1. Bond Loses It All (3:58)
2. Felix Leiter (1:43)
3. Dirty Martini (3:51)
4. Bond Wins It All (4:34)
5. Crashton Martin (1:30)
6. Torture (1:17)
7. A Desperate Promise (1:20)
8. Awakening (1:12)
9. No Armour Left (1:05)
10. City of Lovers (3:33)
11. The Switch (5:09)
12. Collapse (1:56)
13. Attempted Rescue (0:28)
14. Death of Vesper (2:52)
15. The Bitch Is Dead (1:05)
16. Bond... James Bond/You Know My Name (End Title) (4:42)
17. Trailer Music (1:59)

Legally? You can't. Any reference to a "complete" or "expanded" soundtrack available on the Net these days usually means it's been ripped from the DVD.

And because it's an illegal practice we at CBn do not condone it or allow any posting of where or how to get these sorts of soundtracks.

However, what one does in the privacy of their own PMing is another thing.

I'm curious how the alternate cues came about, I didn't think these were released by iTunes in the US. Must have been leaked somehow.

I wonder if The_Cat would be good enough to let us know any of the missing bits that they are aware of (I assume these are alternate versions/deleted scenes)?

I always found the "African Rundown" track to be odd on the soundtrack - it's not the same as the version on the film.

Yeah, the African Rundown track is basically three cues mixed together, with some bits removed. This CD has the music as three cues similar to how they are in the film.

The alternate Stairwell Fight and Double-O Status tracks are worth checking out - its interesting to see how they were remixed for the censored PG-13 cut.

Any reference to a "complete" or "expanded" soundtrack available on the Net these days usually means it's been ripped from the DVD.

Not true. Ive been collecting unreleaded scores for years and those terms do not immediately constitute DVD rips. A DVD ripped score will usually be referred to as "with FX" or "contains SFX". Complete means it contains every cue, Expanded means it has more than the commerical disc but is not complete.

The alternates are the US mixes for the censored scenes. M's Computer was also slightly cut down for all film versions.

Ah, but where's the fun in that. The missing cue is in the movie, but not a second of it is on any CD.

True. Great sites like ScreenArchives do offer expanded scores often, but lately there's been a proliferation of blog sites offering "expanded" and/or "complete" scores which have been ripped from DVDs. A lot of them are actually able to screen out FX because the source DVD has 5.1 sound.

For this reason I stated that "usually" expanded/complete are DVD rips, only because these rips are dim a dozen compared to the more occasional official releases from the likes of ScreenArchives where I am a paid member. As a soundtrack collector myself most of my life I would rather have an official CD release in my hot little hands rather than some rip downloaded off the Net.

There are some DVD rips out there but only for those who dont look fare. Most expanded and complete scores sought by collectors are genuine. I have complete scores of xXx, Van Helsing, Under Siege II and many many more and all of them are genuine scores from master tapes, and all are marked as expanded or complete.

it was my understanding that the full Moonraker (or was it AVTAK) score just doesn't exist anymore. This was explained by Lukas Kendall who worked on the re-releases a few years back...

So I've no idea how you would have been able to obtain that considering the actual owners of the music don't even have it.

You can't half be smug sometimes, fella. You've got some great stuff in your collection, but until I know what form it's in etc. I can have no idea whether it's useful to the chaps releasing it or not. Obviously I don't know if what you have is useful to anyone because you never say what it is! Acting superior is easy and rather underhand when you have have more information than anyone else.

I'm not talking about any superior knowledge about what goes on behind the scenes or what I own. I'm talking about the basic principles of any business - things are not given around for goodwill. In the particular case of the Bond soundtracks it was a simple deal - Lukas Kendall was provided with tapes from a single source and in the case of Thunraball, one additional source that was placed somewhere else but belonged to the same group. That was the one-off deal with an impossible deadline and no financial reward. You can have a potentially awesome project cancelled or recalled with one single breach of contract - thankfully nobody who had that kind of power noticed the discrepancies, so you're free to listen to a scores like Thunderball or OHMSS. Trust me, the less you know the less you will becomes disillusioned with soundtracks in general.

I am most interested into what this Thunraball is. Some alternate universe Bond series I take?
