I do hope that Dan and some former Bonds will be there to pay tribute and to bring attention to this charity ( and the fact that QoS will be released three weeks later might make Dan surface)

Rosamund Pike is asked to play Honeychile Rider... minus the bikini

Last updated at 11:26 PM on 23rd August 2008

It is one of the classic James Bond scenes – Ursula Andress emerging from the sea dressed in a white bikini and clutching a seashell in the 1962 film Dr No.

Now Rosamund Pike, who played Bond girl Miranda Frost alongside Pierce Brosnan in Die Another Day, is being asked to reprise the glamorous role of Honeychile Rider.

Bond girl: Rosamund Pike is being asked to read the part of Honeychile Rider

But she won’t have to get wet – just read extracts from Ian Fleming’s Dr No at a tribute gala to celebrate the 100th anniversary of his birth.

‘We very much hope Rosamund will read the part,’ says Lucy Fleming, the author’s niece.
‘The event will take place in October at the London Palladium. We expect to have a few Bonds there – Roger Moore has already confirmed – and the audience will be packed with celebrities.’

Sounds good. Shame she won't be in the bikini.

She doesn't need the bikini. Fleming's Honeychile Ryder was naked with only a knife belt.

Does anyone know if Ms. Pike is a method actress?

I hope all of the Bonds turn up, what photo op that will be. Something tells me that Connery and Lazenby won't be there...hopefully Brozzer will put his feelings aside and turn up.

So, Moore, Dalton, Brosnan and Craig. Not a bad turn up.

who's voicing James Bond? Roger Moore?

now THAT would be so so awesome... but then again, if an audio recording of it never surfaces... I may end my life due to depression...

Oh I didn't notice this before: worth a punt for the cheap seats, I'll be going along- hopefully the view isn't too restricted from up amongst the clouds. Although with all the people involved it sounds like something that ITV might actually show on the telly. ITV love a bit of Stephen Fry and Joanna Lumley!

who's voicing James Bond? Roger Moore?

That could be possible, but I notice that Toby Stephens and David Suchet are due along too: could be a bit of a re-enaction of the radio version of Dr No. Worth the price just to hear Suchet doing that again!

Duran Duran have filmed a special on-camera greeting to be aired at an event honoring Ian Fleming, the creator of James Bond, at London's Palladium Theatre on 5th October. This event will mark the finale to Ian Fleming's centennial year. "A View To A Kill" remains the only James Bond theme song to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is an important milestone in the band's career.

To purchase tickets, go to www. seetickets. com.
To purchase VIP Hospitality packages, go to www. markbutler. co. uk.
Proceeds of tickets sales will aid The British Heart Association.
Keep an eye on www. ianflemingcentenary. com for further announcements.

Now that it's likely that Daniel Craig will be attending (along with his dear old mum), what are the chances of any other 007 actors appearing? Don't hold out much hope for Connery, Lazenby or Brosnan, but Roger, Tim & Dan would be great!

Really looking forward to this night now, and also attending Sir Roger's talk at the Southbank 2 weeks later (and of course QOS at Odeon LS on the 31st!)

I think there's a good chance that Roger will turn up. He's a cool guy, he loves being associated with Bond.

Where did you hear Craig might be attending, SOS?

I think Roger is already down on a few guest lists I've read, so he'll most likely be there.

Christopher Lee, eh? This is going to be one odd event; I'm looking forward to it in a strange way.
At the very least we'll be getting a nice little sneak peak at Quantum.
