Let me guess: Ewan McGregor couldn't do an Italian accent? :(

A bit late, but the main cinematic trailer for ANGELS & DEMONS can be found here or here. I've also read that the character Carlo Ventresca from the novel has been renamed Patrick McKenna (as played by Ewan McGregor).

It's not as powerful as the teaser trailer unfortunately (I wish it packed the same punch), but I'm nonetheless eagerly anticipating this one. Bring it on.

I wish I could drum up more enthusiasm for this one. I'll see it, certainly. But TDC was such a disappointment, I'm not expecting too much. Hopefully, I'll be pleasantly surprised by a less wordy, more exciting film.

Saw the trailer at the theater today.
Looks almost like a remake of The DaVinci Code, but without an interesting female sidekick.
I think I'll wait until it's on TV about two years from now.

If anyone missed the news, it was announced today that Dan Brown's follow-up to The Da Vinci Code - The Lost Symbol - will be published this September. Apparently, the novel will take place over a 12 hour period, but that's the only indication the press release gives as to the book's content.

For those excited about Angels & Demons, the final theatrical one-sheet is out. I like it! Much better than the Da Vinci Code one-sheet.

Oh, and Columbia have released a new video for the film highlighting Hans Zimmer's score, which is sounding terrific. I've linked to it on my blog.

Fantastic news, [dark]! Been wondering if that third novel was ever going to be announced.

I'm not absolutely in love with the one-sheet they went with, but I'll agree that it is definitely way better than that for Da Vinci.

The Lost Symbol is already at #1 at Amazon.com. Fast work!

ComingSoon.net, meanwhile, has eight new clips from Angels & Demons.

Great info on the soundtrack, [dark]. The Lost Symbol sounds like it has some promise. Looking forward to it.

The Hollywood Reporter has the first review of Angels & Demons. Sounds like the film's a winner.

Sounding good to me. The book was so much more enjoyable than Da Vinci, so I'm really hoping the film will be as well.

Sorry not to be enthusiastic, but the next book sounds like a rehash of the old ones mixed in with a bit of 24 spirit to make it sound exciting.

I quite enjoyed Da Vinci Code as a book, although not at all as a movie (they chose to faithful where they shouldn't and unfaithful where the shouldn't either).

As for The Lost Symbol, lookijng quite forward to red it, although the title seems overly bland.

Haven't read Angels & Demons, but I do have a feeling that it might work better as a movie. Probably.

I really hated Da Vinci code. Not b/c it was bashing the church, etc. The church is just a political institution. Therefore it's corrupted beyond words. Everything Brown wrote on that book I had read eons ago. There are so many theories on that topic......The book was no grabber. I thought I was reading old news/theories entwined within a lame story. The movie itself was even worst. Really dull. I don't expect this new installment to be any better.

I read it as I read any other airport/beach thriller. Sure, the subject matter was approached before, but I do think that the way Brown did it was quite solid. The structure is darn good, which is where most of these adventurous books tend to fail. Many times in these types of books, there are entire sections where one can re-arrange their order and the plot development remains the same. Didn't find that flaw here.

I do wonder what will the next type of plot be. Da Vinci being a cerebral version of Indy of sorts and A & D being a bit like a cerebral version of Bond and/or 24.

On bashing the church, quite honestly, I didn't think it bashed it enough, quite the opposite.

The soundtrack for Angels and Demons is now on iTunes.
Personally, I think it's a little short. There's only a few songs, whereas QoS had about 20+ songs. B)

Having never read any of the books, I gave The Da Vinci Code a chance when the film came on TV the other night. I have to say I really enjoyed it. I found it interesting all the way through, and Hanks was just right for that sort of part. I imagine some people don't like it because it's a chase movie (of sorts) that doesn't have exploding helicopters and a dangerous leading man.

The reviews I've seen so far agree: better than TDC...but lamebrained and dumbscripted. What killed any interest I had in seeing A&D is the concluding sentence of a local review: "When you see you Tom Hanks running through catacombs with a flashlight in hand, you half expect to see Nic Cage coming the other way."

Oh, dear.

That pretty much sums up why I am skipping this and seeing Star Trek again this weekend. Plus the one review I have respect for, James Berardinelli from Reelviews.net, gave it 1&1/2 out of 4 stars and he actually said that this film makes The Da Vinci Code look good and I tend to agree with most of his reviews so I am sure its pretty bad.

I'm seeing ANGELS & DEMONS this evening on a rare break from work. Good old fashioned popcorn fare will be more than satisfactory, as long as I can rest my brain.

Edit: literally have taken a rain check, as it has been deemed too wet to go to the cinema. Boo. It will have to wait for another day.

I'm not sure if I want to see this. THE DAVINCI CODE was far too tedious and convoluted for my tastes. I'm not sure that ANGELS AND DEMONS looks to be anything of noticeable improvement.

I'm not going to see it because, from what I've heard of it, they've completely removed some of the most compelling aspects of the novel for me.
