I don't have a Blue-Ray Player yet, but I may buy the Bond Blue-Rays in preparation.

After seeing the shots for FRWL, I'll be getting the Connery films without a doubt. I knew there would be a difference, but who would have thought the Ultimate Editions would look markedly inferior. I want to see what OHMSS looks like on Blu-Ray!

If you don't have a player, you might consider holding off buying them. You are going to pay early adopter prices for the discs &, unless you are going to buy a player before the end of the year, the discs will hopefully come down in price by the time you do make the player purchase. :(

Also don't forget that to get true benefit from Blu-ray, you need a decent size (37" and larger) 1080p HD TV (most HD-Ready TVs don't have that resolution!)

At the moment, if you have an HD-Ready TV, you're better off buying a decent upscaling DVD player and setting it to 720p! The only issue is that you still have PAL speed-up!

Just picked up the UK version of the Volume 1 boxset (also had a peak at single boxed versions) they are all showing that they can be played on Region A B C Blu-Ray players.

So the UK version is Region Free version, so good news for anyone with an imported Blu-Ray in the UK or people everywhere else in the world. :-)

From what I've read, only the US discs have the original mono tracks. Not good.

I'll eventually convert to Blue-Ray and purchase these films. I am quite curious to see what they'll look like on Blue-Ray. I recently watched Dr. No and FRWL on DVD (the Ultimate Edition versions) and they look gorgeous. I wonder how that picture quality could be improved upon...

I seem to be remember that being an issue (or something closely related to this) for the Ultimate Edition DVDs. Could be wrong though.

Oh I forgot to say, I saw the Blu Ray discs in ASDA today. Beautiful shiny slip cases. It always amazes me how the Bond DVD Covers look alot better in the flesh. :(

According to the Best Buy flyer that was in my local Sunday paper, they will have each movie available in Exclusive Steelbook Packaging for $24.99 each. Unfortunately, these are only the individual versions. The box sets will be the regular Blu-ray packaging (each box set is listed at $59.99). The Casino Royale Collector's Edition Blu-ray is listed as $29.99 & the DVD is $19.99 (although, the flyer isn't really clear on this price - it's listed like a footnote). There is up to $10.50 in E-Movie Money for Quantum of Solace included with any Bond Blu-ray or DVD.

Circuit City has the same price on the box sets but individual discs are listed as $21.99 each with $5 off if you buy two. The Casino Royale Collector's Edition DVD is listed as $14.99. Same E-Movie Money deal with any Bond purchase. The 1967 Casino Royale is listed as $12.99.

No mention of any extra goodies at either place.

I was trying to get the Walmart lenticular covers, does this new release slate mean those are now canceled forever or will they be placed on the 2 disk packages? Anyone in the know on this?

I've read a few reviews of these new Blue-Rays and it appears that while there is some improvement, it isn't significant. The work Lowry did on the Ultimate Edition DVDs was great. I'd say hold on to those DVDs and maybe wait for the price to drop on the Blue-Rays.

I watched DR.NO on Blu-Ray last night. The picture quality is amazing, most of it looks as if it had been filmed yesterday. Right from the start, the colours practically jump out at you - never before has one of the three blind men's red cap looked so significant! I couldn't quite tell that it was Bob Simmons in the gunbarrel, but I could tell it was definitely not Connery...his nose in profile is all wrong. You also get the perhaps-TOO-hi-def effect of being able to see Connery's thinning scalp in certain scenes :(

Anyway, fantastic job on this film. Definitely worth getting!
