Good episode. I really like the direction this season is heading. T-Bag is just too funny. Mahone does have the brooding thing down pat & there is a nice little pact made at the end of the episode (spoiler free until you see it :( ).

I couldn't agree with you more--and, though it's hard has hell, I too will keep this spoiler free. I will say that the combination of the pact plus the likability--almost admirability--that Mahone is beginning to show reinforce my feeling. Wonderful episode!

OK I realize that at this point, pointing out plot holes in Prison Break is a pointless exercise, but still, last night had a real groaner. So they need some of the gang to impersonate cops, in a room full of a hundred cops. Obviously then, a great choice for this job would be Lincoln Burrows - formerly the most wanted criminal in America :)

Ahem, and then they just happen to bump into T-Bag in the middle of Los Angeles. Sure, ok, why not :(

Yeah, you're right. At least, though, Linc was spotted in time. The plot holes are there, but by and large they're done with such panache that I buy them while I'm watching at least. I'm curious about how they'll stretch out four more "capers" for a season? Any idea how many episodes are planned for this season? I guess they can do one every other week. I just hope to god they get, and keep, Sara off the sauce. To bring her back for more disaster would be unforgivable.

And: what's up with Michael's nosebleed?

T-Bag questions:
1) Is his Great Office Adventure wearing a bit thin with you?
2) What the devil was that all about with the tea spilled on the bird book? Was he cleaning it up with a tea-bag--for a visual pun on his name?

Anyway, the certain showdown between Mahone and Wyatt make the minor letdowns worthwhile. Will Mahone survive it?

Only Dino knows. But...is he telling?

Yes, I'll throw you a bone! Actually I didn't even make the connection of T-Bag drinking tea, I guess that was a little joke. The tea he spilled on the book revealed something drawn in it in invisible ink, it just appeared to be a picture of a ladder as far as I could tell, but no doubt it will mean something. As for the whole office scenario, well it got a little interesting with the hottie secretary looking for some blackmail action, we'll see how that works out.
Anyway I did think it was funny that this week they talked about how the 'Fox River Eight' can't be seen together in public...after last week where the two most notorious members of the FR8 were hanging out in a room full of cops :( . Anyway, I enjoyed the Burn Notice-esque office break-in, now I wonder where the show will go once they've got all their cards!

Last night I finished watching the Monday episode I'd taped. The Dirty Dozen angle is looking more like Ocean's Eleven. High marks for the reinvention and the intriguing concept--needing to stage six break-ins to copy six computer cards. The show hasn't been completely consistent: much of last season was spotty and here and there, this season, I've scratched my head in wonder. Or even objected quietly: e.g., Dudes, excuse me, but could Michael really get rid of all his body tattoos in a single session?

BUT...this last episode revealed why some of us keep running back more. Mahone has been transformed from hateful villain to the sympathetic family man whose son has been murdered. Even Gretchen, Baddie Supremo, is now on the run from a league of worse Baddie Supremos, and may gain our sympathy. The tension as we await the longed-for confrontation between Mahone and his son's killer grows and grows each week.

Constructive criticism: why not give a Bellick a little something to do now and then...or send him memorably off? Just a thought.

Weekly roundup - Another howler, as Mahone punches out a cop and gets arrested, rather than try and innocently explain that he made a wrong turn. Still, there'd be no episode otherwise, would there.

T-Bag's office job has gone south already? I thought it was going to be a scenario where he'd bump off all his rivals and get promoted, as a sort of satire on climbing the corporate ladder. But no I guess they'd had enough of T-Bag in an office, so they ended it.

Otherwise it was an OK episode with this week's Mission Impossible working quite well. And see, Bellick did do something sorta useful - if you need a dumb jerk to cause a distraction, Bellick's your man.

I see next week they're going completely goofy with an Oceans 11 caper-in-Vegas vibe, and Sucre posing as a gay escort?! Boy, we're a long way from Fox River!

Dino, forgive me if I disagree. I thought this week's episode was one of the single GREATEST hours of TV I've ever witnessed. Oh, sure, we've been getting some howlers--the result of writers stopping a step or two short of making a great idea work just right. And splitting Mahone from the group, putting all of them and him at risk, was a fine idea.

Until this season, Mahone was as hateful and relentless a villain as The Terminator. Now week by week he grows more understandable and sympathetic. The scene where he was in the courthouse staring down the man who killed his son was gut-wrenching. And the tension was exquisite. The courtroom surprise that followed was one of the greatest surprises this inventive show has sprung.

I'd had doubts whether PB could return to glory after a spotty third season. But, wowwwwwwwwww. The combo Dirty Dozen/Ocean's Eleven (or Mission Impossible) has been working beautifully, imo. I can't wait for next week. Howlers be damned. This is the Show of Shows for me. It's better than Watchmen, Mission Impossible, Escape From Alcatraz and The Odyssey combined! (How's that for Loomisian enthusiasm? :(

STEPHEN KING WEIGHS IN ON BREAK!

We are not alone, friends.

In the new Entertainment Weekly, Stephen King has a one-page essay well worth your while to check out. He says it's the one and only show he'll run over his grandmother's back to watch: for brilliant plotting, rich characterization, great acting--and endless self-reinvention.

The King leads the charge demanding Season Five. Go, Steve!

That's true. But then again, you've called Watchmen a classic of world lit. King was referring to characterization, plotting, structure, inventiveness, suspense. You're welcome to your fun, after all the fun I had with Watchmen. But, remember: I've read WM a couple of times and will go see the film. So, in the name of fairness, give PB a look. :)

It's time for your weekly roundup, dino! Good transitional episode, I thought--not killing time but taking time to set us up, hopefully, for more Almighty Shockeroos. Good stuuf with Gretchen and T-Bag...but the Mahone-Wyatt destined meet could be ratcheted up just a little, eh?

Well I enjoyed the goofball caper in Vegas, are they going to have to do a Scofield's Eight heist to get the Magic Device back? I like the new fun and fluffy direction they've been going in lately - more Sarah in tight clothes, though I guess we have to put up with shirtless Sucre too.

T-Bag + Gretchen = romance?

You're a genius. We began with the Foxy Prison Eight. Now we have another. Allowing for Self to stand outside the group, as their overseer, we have:

Michael's Eight:

Lincoln
Sarah
Mahone
Sucre
Bellick
Chinese computer whiz
Gretchen
T-Bag

Go, Dino!

SHADOW SPOILER
(specifics-free)

Brace yourself, jailbird fans: per TV Guide, one rather major character ends up "on the business end of a bullet" this week.

Yes, last night was an outstanding hour, wasn't it? I'm on the edge of my seat and cursing the two-week wait till we get to see the boys have some fun with Wyatt. All the pieces seem to be in place now to make this a rea; winning season. I hope the network does the right thing if the ratings don't move them to give us a fifth season: don't simply abandon those of us who've stuck by this show from the start--provide us with some closure...ending up, if necessary, with a couple of two-hour movies.

Ahhhhhh, I misread before, thinking you'd referred to the latest episode. Keep watchin', sharpshooter, 'cause this baby is starting to rock. Mahone is making a complete, and very convincing, transition from one of the tube's greatest villains to a hero we can pull for.

Monday's episode, called GREATNESS ACHIEVED, sounds like a corker. No spoilers here. But word is that even dinovelvet will cry out at the top of his lungs:

"The Glory Days are back again!"

Now, friends, I ask: How cool is that?

Per TV Guide: Bellick and the boys learn that breaking into the Company's headquarters is nothing compared to breaking back out.

Now, then, all cunning minds are forced to wonder: what exactly are they not telling us by leading off with "Bellick and the boys"?

Hmm yes, singling out Bellick like that is rather odd. Then again last time he gave Sucre the old "If anything happens to me, make sure my mom's OK" routine, which seemed to slap a big old "THIS CHARACTER IS GOING TO DIE" on his forehead.

Ahhh, I'd forgotten about that. The foreshadowing wouldn't trouble me a bit. But I think I'll be just a leet-le disappointed if Bellick takes a bullet...and then takes Michael's hand as he's dying and gasps: "Do you know what's really--funny...When I was young I--actually dreamed that--I had...greatness in me..." Then Michael blinks back tears and says, "Today your greatness has been achieved."

Nawwwwww, they'd never do that to us. Never. It's just the jitters getting to me as Monday night comes near!

While the world awaits dino v's verdict:

I for one would not have traded Mahone's great scene with Wyatt for a round-trip all expenses paid trip to London to see Q of S with the Royal Family

Ehh, it was quite good but I don't know if I'd go THAT far. Though I liked his torture setup of causing him enough pain to black out so that the paddles would automatically kick in and bring him back around, that's Bond villain-worthy stuff.

Yeah so we got the least surprising character death in TV history. The herd has been thinned this week, Michael's Mystery Illness ™ is in full swing, and the Company continues to mention something sinister they did in Laos. Ooh, the drama!

I'm still puzzled by one thing, after a second viewing. At one point when Sarah's talking with Wyatt, the camera swings down to his left hand. I kept expecting him to pull out a key to the cuffs or a ray gun. Then I got to thinking when he went for a swim with cement shoes on his hands that maybe he's not reallllllly done.

also: TV Guide's been studing the Spoilers on this site. In next week's issue they have a PB update, capped by SPOILER ALERT! Directly beneath that, in still bigger type, they name the character who bites it!

Next week we'll get more, they say, on Michael's MI. Hopefully, Gretchen won't kiss that spooky old man again.

Dynamite episode with a classic, killer plot twist. Next week looks like another smasing episode. I, for one, will be bitterly disapponted if this granted a fifth, final season. My organic soy cheese pizza was dripping all over my Calvin Klein tee.

Any word on whether next week is the end of the season...or the series? I'm glad you agree about the episode--that's the sort of writing that brought me to the series in the first place. And for the first two seasons, the writers' judgment never erred. Jesus, they were back in form! Where else but on PB could you root for a dirtbag like T-Bag when he sees one of the good guys, we'd thought, emerge as a murderous pyscho relentlessly coming his way?

Bravo.
