As for Geoffrey Wright, looks too much like a villian rather than a CIA comerade.I always think of him as 'Peoples' from 'Shaft'

1) He's a damn good actor
2) He looks different than any other Felix (being black and all) so when he announced himself as Leiter in Casino Royale I was delighted and surprised at the character being reintroduced.
3) He was in QoS, making him the only one to actually stick with the role.

"Funny game, huh friend. Guess I forgot to mention myself. Felix Leiter, a brother from Langley."
"Does it look like we need the money?"
"My friend, bring me one as well, but keep the fruit."

The brutha from Langley himself, Mr. Jeffrey Wright.
Bucking the "flava of the month" trend i have to say Jack Lord followed by Rik Van Nutter. Wright would be third tied with Hedison.
Out of the minor players i didn't mind Cec Linder but totally despise Burton and Terry.

I agree. I liked Lord in the role a lot. Nutter was also memorable but his Leiter didn't strike me as very bright.
As for Wright, I really don't like what they did to his character in QoS. Not Wright's fault, really. Still, can someone shed some light on why, for the first time in a Bond film, the CIA is horribly corrupt and Leiter a vaguely unwilling/nihilistic patsy up until the last minute when he lets Bond know he's about to be killed? I hope these odd undertones are either explained or eliminated in the next film as Felix has always been one of my favorite reoccurring characters.

My guess is that they were trying to prove a point that the CIA will get into bed with anyone (like Greene) as long at it suits their short/medium or long term goals/interests (ie supporting the Afghan Taliban against the Russians, supplying Saddam Hussein with weapons to fight Iran, or overthrowing dictators in Africa/Latin America just to impose new ones, are some examples).
Yeah, it really didn't really cast Felix in a great light working with these people even though he aids Bond in the end. As a result i think his character and perfomance in QOS suffers, therefore i much preferred him in CR.

I voted for Bernie Casey, which may seem an off-choice, but I thought that of all the Felixes, he was the one who (1) seemed most physically capable, and so functioned as a real peer of Bond's, (2) caught something of the easy-going charm of the Felix of the books, and (3) had a real rapport with Bond. I thought Casey and Connery had a couple of nice moments of give-and-take in NSNA, and I really believed they were old friends. It helped that they had more action scenes together than any of the other Bond/Felix combos, so they came across as teammates.
It was a toss-up between Bernie Casey and Hedison and I eventually went for Hedison, but I'm regretting it after reading this post.
