You need religion, sir. Go to church and praise the Lord. Jack Lord, that is.Really? Maybe instead you should be telling them about how good Headison is?
Ugh. I gotta go...
Wow. That joke sucks...

Classic!
Don't know all that much about Jack Lord, but if the comments on him being too big-headed for Leiter is true, then the guy must have been a massive jack-hole. He was also considered for the role of Captain James Kirk of Star Trek - until he demanded 50% ownership rights for the show!
Needless to say, William Shatner thanks Mr. Lord, RIP. Well, I guess things caught up with Lord, as in his final days, he suffered from advanced Alzheimer's and could be seen wandering the beaches of Hawaii, not recognizing any of his good friends he'd come across.
He had good hair, though...

The beauty of CBNers - we can all claim to be Bond fans, and yet appreciate it in different ways.

I liked Jeffery Wright, but it's way too early for me to judge him on the brief moments he appeared in Casino Royale!

Wright
Hedison
Casey
Lord
Very close together. All great. The rest are "meh." Not much middle ground when it comes to being Felix Leiter, it seems.

But I am also a fan of Hedison and Wright.

I echo your post almost word for word. Go Bernie!I voted for Bernie Casey, which may seem an off-choice, but I thought that of all the Felixes, he was the one who (1) seemed most physically capable, and so functioned as a real peer of Bond's, (2) caught something of the easy-going charm of the Felix of the books, and (3) had a real rapport with Bond. I thought Casey and Connery had a couple of nice moments of give-and-take in NSNA, and I really believed they were old friends. It helped that they had more action scenes together than any of the other Bond/Felix combos, so they came across as teammates.

I realise the same could be said of all but three or four Leiters, but still, what does make the one performance we've seen so far so great?

His sense of humor, his cool laid-back attitude, his ability to make the most of his few minutes of screen time. After watching CR recently, I can't say I really understand all the claims that Wright is the best. Good Actor? Certainly. Good performance? Yes. Memorable? No.

I'va always liked Cec Linder as Felix.
Oof! We'll have to agree to disagree on this one.
I chose Jack Lord. He looked the part and was the essence of CIA cool next the Sean Connery, who was the essence of cool, period.
I am curious to see what Wright does in QOS however.
