I was watching DIE ANOTHER DAY and when Jinx (Hallie Berry) stabs [and kills] Miranda Frost (Rosamund Pike) and then says "take that..."

Surprising it wasn't expected.

I thought the language was pretty darn mild in CR, and I'm one of those sorts who don't really say profanity beyond a few choice tame words. One because I live with my sister who is like living with a censor, so everyone cleans up their language around her without even realising it, and two profanity sounds and look silly coming out of my mouth. But language doesn't offend me to hear it. And I actually didn't think about it at all until you mentioned it. Of course DC could curse a blue streak and it sounds lovely to me.

Has anyone mentioned the insanity of thinking there are certain combinations of sounds which are inherently "bad" anyway?

I just realised how pointless this thread is. If you look at the other movies out there...

Die Hard "Yippe Kiya Mother-:tup:er!"
Terminator " you :( hole!"

Casino Royale is quite tame in comparison, all we get in Royale is a couple of pisses a bastard and a few :), I dont hear many people gasp when I say stuff like that. Granted, if Eon threw in a few Mother - :Ders and :D sucker! then would be the time to complain about the use of profanity. :)

Speaking of which, I watched the movie The Departed (starring Leonardo DiCaprio) In it just had A BUNCH of profane words. Just made me lose interest in that movie even though he is a good actor.[censored] Here are some quotes:
"I can't wait to see you explain this one to a :)ing Suffolk County jury you :)ing B)er. This is gonna be :)ing fun!"
"Who the [censored] do you work for?"
"You little [censored]in' snake."

Yeah, I swear a bit, but even I got a bit tired of the amount of bad language in The Departed.

What about the profanity in Layer Cake? I urged my grandmother not to watch it on the box office, she refused. I felt embarresed as she sat down and watched it when I was visiting.

I'm not bothered by the number of profane words in a movie's dialogue. For me, it depends upon how it is said, not what was said. Some actors can spew profanity until the cows come home and make it sound remarkably fresh. And there are some who, quite frankly, lack the talent to make profanity sound fresh. These people should keep their profanity at a minimum.

In the 80s movie, "PLANES, TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES", Steve Martin said the word  about 21 times in one scene. And I must admit that it was a funny scene.

Yes, I agree. Also the British comedy Four Weddings and a Funeral begins with the word  uttered about 15 times.

An excellent scene. What lets it down is the punchline uttered by Edie McClurg. Just doesn't work. Would have been better if she had him arrested by some security guards, then had said the line. Either that, or had of just him a "gobble gobble".

:(

Those words aren't considered profanity in the United States these days.

Maybe not, but in the area where I live, you sometimes hear those words often (even the stonger ones too) and they sometimes get very annoing. Therefore, they also count those kind of words "bad."

I thought the so-called 'profanity' used in Casino Royale was common on every person alive?

I heard it was really good. Is it, in your opinion, better than the 3 Godfather movies?

Probably more, I believe. M gets arguably the "strongest" swear word of the movie. It's very refreshing.

That's a judgement call. I was being sarcastic, since it is notable for the number of times it uses the f-word, I doubt you'd like it.

Yes, and Greene slips a profanity in there when talking to Camille at the party.

Ah yes, and the same word is used by Haines' bodyguard.

According to ScreenIt.com the profanity count for CR is:

At least 7 hells, 3 damns, 2 a**es, 1 bugger and 1 use each of "Christ," "For God's sakes" and "My God."

I'd say that's pretty mild by current standards.

And Dame Judi Dench was responsible for most of those.....LOL

I think it's good....way Fleming would've had it.

He means it has LOADS of profanity. Nearly 250 uses of the F word. Just that, not counting others.

And yes it's quite good, better than Godfather pt.3 the first two are better IMO.
