I'm finding myself more and more intrigued with original material though. Along with unused material I'm afraid we will continue to see retreads of stuff from previous movies.

There is a lot of great stuff we can explore in Bond's world. As Capt. Picard said, "Make it so." Or was it, "Engage"?

Picard used both.

I'd love to see Patrick Stewart as M, and deliver the 'make it so' line to Bond at the beginning of a mission.

The material I most want to see used soon is the "cheating at bridge" chapters from Moonraker. Following Casino Royale, it'd be perfect to do it during the Craig era.

Someone mentioned Fleming's notebooks. How about some of that material?

QUOTE(coco1997 @ 14 September 2007 - 22:21)
What do you mean?

There was ideas that Fleming at wrote down in his notebook.

RazorBlade could well be refferring to Zographouse. The greek syndicate which was a card player. This was a unfinshed short story. I think it is said that Fleming at written a passage about men getting up for work, stoking the stove saying good bye to their wives and and getting on trains.

I think that appeared in the unfinished Short Story My Enemy's Enemy Is My Friend

I was refering to some notes about a fight near the Niagara falls, killing or betraying a fellow agent to save himself or something like that...Sorry, I don't remember all the details.

I think Patrick Stewart would be more suited to Blofeld. Sure he could make a good M, but think what his portrayal could give to an updated, modern Blofeld who could be more serious and formidable than the 60s portrayal. He doesn't need a cat or a Nehru suit - just an ordinary business suit and his acting skills. He can bring much more subtle nuances to the character.

I was referring to a notebook he had where he kept story ideas and naturally some he didn't get to. I was just reading LIVE AND LET DIE. There is a scene in the cave under the island in Jamaica that is very exciting. As well as Bond and Solitaire being dragged behind the boat, chased by sharks while Bond counts down the minutes until a limpet mine goes off and blows the boat up! Frakkin' cool, man.

There are a few of those novels that I would like to see turned into films, but I doubt that EON will ever turn those novels into film adaptations. I think that For Special Services by John Gardner would make a great film, as would Raymond Benson's novels Never Dream of Dying and Doubleshot.

It'll never happen. Eon figures it pays the Ian Fleming Publications enough as it is, it doesn't want to shell out any more for the film rights of continuation novels.

It's a shame too because there's some great material in those books. People may not hold those books in high esteem but I do.

I'm thinking slightly differently with these. In CR, the two kills were done to give Bond his 00 number, and I agree that you can't do that again. You could, however, show him having to accomplish a kill with a knife or shoot at long range a man in a skyscraper, and show his reactions to what he's done.

There we have two pre-titles

An awesome car chase as Bond drives after Drax and Krebs, who have Gala captive in their car. Drax manages to cut a paper-ream truck's cords, and Bond doesn't realize the reams are falling into his path until it's too late. It's another spectacular wreck akin to CR's.

Maybe they can mix 3 4 Gardner films for one film, and make a total of 5 6 films from Gardner and 3 4 from Benson.

I'm not opposed to Gardner and Benson being brought to screen at all. But I feel there's a lot of unused Fleming stuff that should be tapped first. If they were to adapt G and B, which of their books would be best suited to the tone and direction of the Craig-era? Most of Benson's were defintiely geared to the Brosnan-era, though HTTK might be suitable as a Craig-style film. I imagine Gardner is better suited, or at least has a wide range of material suitable for Craig's style. If the Organisation turns outs not to be SPECTRE, then I think adapting Benson's Union would be terrific.

Maybe it's just because I love Fleming's Moonraker so much (I even bought the audiobook as well), but I think we need to make the case for a Moonraker remake. The movie and the novel are nothing alike. And in one of the worst blunders of the Bond cannon, the wonderful line "I should spend the money quickly, Mr. Bond" was ripped from it's context and used as a toss off line in Moore's Octopussy?!? One of the great things about that line is what was underneath it. Drax was telling Bond he should spend the money quickly, because London was going to reach 12,000 degrees in a few days! Shame on the writers for stealing that line for Octopussy of all films. And, as if this wasn't bad enough, there is Moore's cheezy comeback remark. I think I'll just put this in my signiture block: REMAKE MOONRAKER.

I hadn't thought of him as Blofeld, but yes, you are right, he would be better as Blofeld!! And, he could deliver the line in a much more sinister way!

I, too, like Shatterhand. It would be a great villain name, and could perhaps be used on a proper version of the YOLT novel. I think a lot of these chapter title ideas have been thrown around on a number of different boards here, but "A Whisper of Hate" ranks as one of the best for me, if not the best overall.

The chapter title that I would most like to see as the title of a Bond film is "A Whisper of Hate" (taken from the full chapter title "A Whisper of Love, A Whisper of Hate")
