I will admit though, the first thing that popped into my head after reading his name was The Flintstones.

I have a friend who works for EON, and he said the rest of the Organization's members are named Mrs. Peacock, Prof. Plum, Col. Mustard, and Miss Scarlett. The plot of the next film revolves around the political assassination of a character named Mr. Body.

The Mr Slate of Flintstone fame is who I first thought of as well! Then before opening this thread I remembered that Slate is a color (at least in the paint store!). This organization may go by color codenames since we know of a White and Greene already.Interesting that he was original called "Mr. Black". I believe somebody else mentioned that perhaps they were originally going to go for the colour codename theory, but in the end decided not to. Maybe they either thought it would be too obvious or realized it had already been done before. Either way, I'll be anxious to see how all the villains turn out, and how the fights with Bond are.

White, Greene, Black, and Elvis. It seems as though there's one guy who didn't get the memo.

So it appears this bloke is a former amateur boxing champion. I don't think this will be a particularly big role, judging from his resume which mostly consists of the odd episode of tv here and there. I'm guessing its a Gettler sized role with one or two lines, and a quick fight.
Certainly one or two punch lines, given his curriculum...

And Red Grant (although I think the 'Red' was only in the novel).Unless other character surface with names which are actually colours like Mr Black, Mr Grey, Mr Blue...I maintain my opinion that there is no colour code in the organisation.
Actually, wasn't there a Fredrick Gray in some of the earlier Bond films?

Slate isn't really a colour though is it, it's a rock.
Curious that his original name, Black...also a color like Green and White.
I'm also curious to know who is changing all these names. He was Mr. Black on Nov 9 (5 days into writer strike). Today he is Mr. Slate. We know Amalric's name was changed as well. But I guess it doesn't require a writer to change character names.

Maybe Haggis uses color names as place holders until he can come up with better names for the characters other then the known ones of Bond, M, etc...

I have to wonder if the color names are at least partially an attempt to somehow limit or avoid the implication of nationality/ethnicity to the villains.
