The cover art is terrible. It looks like bad fan art or a John Gardner cover from the early 1980s.

Yeah, that's pretty awful cover art. The British hardbacks are still the nicest looking versions, hands down. Shame, too. A Union Omnibus should have had so much better.

The cover looks like it was knocked up very quickly, a real shame

Definitely agreed. Huge fan of that cover design.

Not very inspiring. I hope they didn't spend too much time on the concept or design.

I like that it's actually called "The Union Trilogy."

God, could that cover be more tame? It's like they didn't even try to do something interesting.

Time to judge a book by its cover.

Uggh! A very poor cover. I guess that Pegasus books are currently unable to afford an art director or a cover artist.

Now we just have to wait and see how much the book will cost.

Sadly, some of us literary completists will have to buy this just to have the full version of 'Blast from the Past'.

Yes, I see that Stevie Wonder has once again been set loose to design the cover of this omnibus edition of Raymond Benson's 'Union trilogy', released no doubt to cash in on the Ian Fleming centenary and Sebastian Faulks' Bond novel.

After also being responsible for the new Fleming hardback covers, and the Royal mail Fleming centenary stamps in the UK, please will someone handcuff Stevie to a grand piano, preferably underwater. Although this may prove far too slow-moving and boring a demise for many a Bond fan here.

What next? Blind people being hailed as excellent photographers!

Would ideally have prefered all his short stories in one volume.

I'm looking forward to the full version of Blast From The Past.

Well done to Pegasus book for having the courage to republish the books.
And, for my money, the Union Trilogy represents the best of Benson's Bond.
For those who baulk at Benson, buy this book!

I would have preferred that as well. And some decent cover art, but both were seemingly too much to ask...

The Amazon page says that it is a soft-cover, as does the Amazon.co.uk page. I thought that this was going to be a hardcover. 800+ pages in a softcover is going to be quite awkward.

Possibly, but not necessarily. Zachary Leader's The Life of Kingsley Amis paperback runs at 996 pages and it's no issue.

Wonder if this will have a substantial print run or quickly become elusive like many of the other Benson Bond books (although the seems to apply almost exclusively to the UK hardbacks)...

Question: I've got a copy of High Time to Kill (which I've heard is the best Benson novel). Should I get this omnibus? Are the other stories worth buying another copy of HTTK?

Well, it's going to have the extended version of Blast from the Past so I'm going to get it just for that even though I've got all the Benson novels (TMWTRT in HB and PB).

I might get around to reading these again. I really enjoyed the books. I actually thought they were better than Flemings. I always imagined Brosnan as Bond when I read them. If they had filmed these books with Brosnan it would have been fantastic. They would even make great stories for the Craig era. Great stuff.

I have a post card of the cover and I'm really excited for the release because I do not own a copy of Blast From the Past so it will be a chance to read it.

I'm definitely looking forward to the full version of that one.

Wonder what novels they'll choose for the 2009 omnibus if that keeps going forward.
