I've just watched the Channel 4 St Trinian's special that I recorded this morning so I could check out Miss Arterton and report back. Got to say I was quite impressed, not only by Gemma but by the dazzling array of lovelies on display in this film for dirty old droolers like me, most of whom were dressed up in schoolgirl uniform (with stockings) despite being about 25. There's Lena Headey, Mischa Barton, Talulah Riley, Tamsin Egerton, Anna Chancellor, Caterina Murino, Girls Aloud, etc. In fact, stuff Bond. Give me a quiet afternoon in an empty cinema watching this with my trousers round my ankles and I'd be a happy bunny.

Your last sentence, although slightly disturbing, cracked me up!

Either way i don't really care if this Arterton bird is in it. I doubt it will be anything but a minor role, with her in some revealing outfit for Bond to shag.

Ooh now I like this idea. That would be very interesting. As long as it's not too major a part. I think that it's important to move on from Vesper to a certain extent.

As I said in a previous post in this thread I had a feeling that the rumor was an accurate one. And now her casting has been confirmed. I think what clinched it for me is that she was remaining mum on the whole subject

This is great news for Bond 22 as far as I am concerned, I personally think she is an amazingly beautiful woman.

Also I love the idea that she might be playing Vespers sister ala Tilly.

If only they'd give us some more info on this film, then maybe I could get into the speculation on these casting decisions. At least back in the months before Casino Royale we knew there had to be a Vesper, Mathis, Le Chiffre, etc... but with this "Bond 22" we have nothing more to go on than speculation. If we do get a title soon and it's nothing we've ever heard of, then what?

Now I know how everyone must've felt back in the Brosnan era...

Usually in those cases though the actor involved includes themselves in the speculation. Aterton didn't say a word, and is staying loyal to the confidentiality agreement.

I think a lot of people believed that the movie would be a one-woman Bond picture after it was revealed that the producers were looking for a woman of Latin American descent. But, seriously, it's been over 20 years since we had a one-woman Bond movie ( The Living Daylights).

I mean, she's British, young, and looks like she could work as a "personal assistant".

And, as others have pointed out, it seems unlikely she's been cast as the "main" Bond girl.

She does look like she would fit a Moneypenny-type role, but last we heard there was no Moneypenny in the script. I guess we can only speculate at this point until we hear more solid news from the production.

Out of tabloid stuff this has the ring of truth.

Hmm maybe there is something to it then. But wasn't it stated a while back that EON were looking at Brazilian actresses? If this casting does turn out to be true, I'm assuming its not THE main Bond girl, but rather a Solange/Paris Carver secondary role.

Not mutually exclusive I'd say. They have been known to have more than one Bond girl, after all. This one would be the MI6 side kick probably, with some CIA hottie in Latin America thrown in for good measure.

My guess is she'll be playing a minor character in the Panama scenes, and that all her footage will be shot at Pinewood Studios.
