Great news. I love all the Bond ski chases. I hope the news is true.
I would have preferred some mountain climbing action as i'm sick of these ski chases. How much differently can this one be done?
If skiing is included i hope its shown as a leisure type activity in a very brief scene that captures the majesty of the Alps.

Just as long as we get to see Craig standing in front of a projection screen, wearing a yellow ski suit, I'll be happy.
Don't forget the goggles and a big fluffy beanie for his head!

It looks like this new Bond film will have a larger than life travelogue escapist feeling to the likes we haven't seen since the Roger Moore films: Italy, the Swiss Apls,South America..
Agreed. And that is my type of Bond film...

I would like to see some grand vistas again...the type of shots that make you wanna run to your travel agent afterwards. And a speaking of Moore-ish films, I think it's high time for a ballad type song, ah la FYEO.

No thanks, all of Pierce's songs have tried to emulate past Bond songs. Just like Cornell's YKMN was a bit different for a Bond song, I want something equally different for Bond 22, a bit Linkin Park perhaps?

If this new film is going to continue in the vein of CR, and if it is, technically, the second film in a "new Bond series," and if it will be set partially in the Alps, will there be some sort of considerable mention of Bond's parents? There was a mention of it -- a rather edgy one, if I remember -- in CR. And also one in GE. But there's never been any kind of portrayal of how they died. (I posited a theory on their deaths in my short story "The Life After This One." Please feel free to check it out yourself. ;-) )
Were there any other mentions of his parents in the movies, besides those two? DO you think it's possible the Alps setting might indicate a willingness to at least let him reflect on the memory?

Just think if someone suggested putting a skiing scene in CR. You'd instantly say, "We can't. The movie is too tight. The story doesn't allow it." That's good!
So I hope this idea for a skiing scene in Bond 22 grows out of the story and isn't a "wouldn't it be cool to have skiing in it -- lets come up with some story contrivance to make that happen."
Of course, this is from a tabloid, so I'm not going to think/worry too much about this.

Nope, that's it for the films. Were there any other mentions of his parents in the movies, besides those two?
If true, I have enough faith in the Bond crew to give us something truly original - or at least something brutal and organic (like the [film=99]On Her Majesty

And for some reason, the image of Craig on skis really excites me.
Yeah. It is like invisioning Connery skiing.

My thoughts exactly. Too many action sequences felt that way leading up to the reboot. No more, please. So I hope this idea for a skiing scene in Bond 22 grows out of the story and isn't a "wouldn't it be cool to have skiing in it -- lets come up with some story contrivance to make that happen."

I sometimes feel sorry for some of you who hated parts of the Bond movies. I love almost 100% of each one, so I get so much more entertainment than a some fans on here. It must have been awful for you if you hated Brosnan's movies because that meant nothing worth watching since 1989, until CR came along. Hell on earth. I had a great time during the Brosnan years.
And that includes the fun I have watching the TWINE ski scene.

I'm not instantly thrilled with this news because so many of the Bond skiing sequences have been unmotivated and can flag a potential "greatest hits" approach. OHMSS had the only really organic and motivated ski sequence, IMO. He has to ski to escape. Great! They've gone consistently downhill in quality and motivation...hitting rock bottom in TWINE.
I think FYEO's one was superb, but as you say, it didn't grow out of the plot very much and so there's less tension than in OHMSS. In that he simply has to get away.
Of course, this is from a tabloid, so I'm not going to think/worry too much about this.
Although far from bulletproof, The Sun is slightly more reliable with showbiz stuff than most tabloids.

1) There's been a lot of snow and ice in recent movies, including some fairly poor ski action. So B22 needs to get it right and B23 needs to move on. Worth noting that there was no snow in Casino Royale, so there is some balance now.
2) They really need to get this right. The action needs to be great and the cinematography needs to do the action and scenery justice and break new ground. Doing some fancy tv advertising or music video type of glossy filming just won't do the job.
Does anyone else sense a chance at including some of the background history given in Octopussy (the written one) here? Sounds like something that could fit in with the whole Bond begins stuff and Casino Royale with skiing and the Alps.
The timing also makes sense, as CR was during the summer and B22 follows immediately to some extent.

Here here, i agree Dave! I actually thought the ski sequence in TWINE was quite exciting, though not as good as Willy Bogner's work on OHMSS, FYEO or AVTAK.
