J-Lo, Jessica Alba...don't even go there. Look at the pedigree of star, director, etc. It will be someone akin to Eva Green. A strong actress first, "name" second. Besides, if they were going to go the movie star route, they probably wouldn't be putting out a wide casting notice.
Yes that's what I thought. Of course now that the news is out, we're going to get rumors over the next few weeks about every latina-looking actress in town, we'll hear all about Jessica Alba, Eva Mendes, J-Lo, Penelope Cruz etc, and how they're in "final talks" with "movie bosses" to play the Bond girl. Meanwhile EON will quietly cast someone we've never heard of, with two film credits to her name, who will be brilliant.
Anyway, South America sounds good, we're long overdue. I get the feeling we'll be avoiding the obvious tourist traps like Rio and Buenos Aires in favor of somewhere grittier, perhaps like Uruguay as used in Miami Vice.
Patricia Velasquez, Eva Mendes, Laura Harring, Eva Longoria (God forbid!). I suppose this could include any Spanish actress too. Obvious ones are Penelope Cruz and Paz Vega but I quite like Pilar Lopez de Ayala or Ines Sastre.
How aboot Chilean actress Leonor Varela, who was in Blade II, Tailor of Panama(!), and Arrested Development(!!)
