Now on the CBn main page...

To feature an audio commentary; possibly deleted scenes...

As always, great intel, Qwerty. So, where does the line form?

(Disgustinly looking in my wallet at the secret compartment containg the $100.00 bill I stashed away back in March)

I have CR on DVD and unless this new edition has the deleted scenes, I won't be buying it. I'll have to get it if it does have cut footage on it though. There's no way I could resist. I'm really curious to see these scenes. Sony certainly do milk this, draining us poor consumers of our hard earned money!

I made a point not to purchase the first version of the DVD. Now, three discs with deleted scenes and commentary? Count me in.

Great news! Right on, Teddy Bear. Agonized myself by waiting on this edition, but I've known there was a better one coming ever since we heard about the lame specs on the last one. I'd be surprised if anyone didn't expect this; it's the way most movies have debuted on DVD. Barebones release immediately, collector's release 1 year+ later. Regular as clockwork.

Fantastic! I hope the special features are worthy of the movie, and if so, I'll certainly be buying this.

It would seem a confidential source CBn does not wish to reveal.

I wonder whether three discs will actually be necessary, or whether it'll be a case of spreading bonus material that could easily fit onto two discs across three in order to make it look more of a super-duper edition than it actually is.

3 discs? I'm hoping we get a pretty in-depth making-of documentary (at least an hour), because if it's just deleted scenes, commentary, and some five minutes featurettes, then there's no need for three discs.

I too gave the first version a wide berth. It's been tough not watching the film for a second time, but I'd rather wait for the better release.

I'll be there like a shot if Disc One is an extended, harder '15'-rated cut, Disc Two is the theatrical cut and Disc Three is docos! :cooltongue:

No shock that another DVD release is coming. A three disc set is a little odd. Off the top of my head, I can only think of a few other movies that were available in three disc sets (Titanic & Black Hawk Down are two that come to mind). I only hope that, if it is a three disc set, all three discs are really needed & the content isn't just spread out to give consumers that perception of value where none exists (three discs are better than two). Otherwise, we have yet another money grab where they take a few more dollars than expected from my wallet. Oh yeah, & all those extras better be in high def on those Blu-ray discs (assuming their silly format war hasn't killed it by the time this is released :cooltongue: ).

When it comes to myself i never purchase a new version of a film on dvd unless it's been awhile.Say a film has not had a new vhs,dvd release for 5,10 years then i'd go for it.But hardly any time has passed since the first release. No thank you, deleted scenes or no deleted scenes i'm not interested.

There must be at least three commentary tracks, and at least two very good documentaries of decent length, or I'll start crying ripoff.

My money on the third disc being Bond 22 stuff, just like the recent Bourne reissues.

A DVD can comfortably hold 3 hours, just over 3:30 if you're willing to compromise picture quality. Which could mean we're about to get a HUGE pile of content...or a pile of filler...or a couple of half-full discs...

Or an alternate cut of the movie.

For now, I'll be optimistic. The double-dip strategy is a fairly sleazy business, but we know this has been planned for since early-on. I doubt we'll get a doc as candid and all-access as DAD's Script to Screen (an ITV production leased back by Sony, I believe), but I certainly hope for one.

(A great documentary can be entertainment in itself, after all. The Lord of the Rings docs on the extended editions took two discs per movie, and were never dull. And each Red Dwarf series has a feature-length doc that'll make you laugh out loud.)

Deleted scenes are priority one for me, though. We didn't lose THAT much from the shooting script, but I'd like to see the longer balcony scene. After that, it's docs, commentaries, a marketing archive with trailers and TV spots...all the usual. Eon isn't known for warts-and-all revelations, so I'll settle for glossy, informative and entertaining.

I wanna see the screen test. The screen test have to be there. It's the genesis of Bond being reborn.

Like some of the others, I have the DVD already. But with Hi Def prices coming down, I might be in the market for the HD or Blu Ray version.

That's what I want to see with this new release of the film as well. Deleted scenes would be nice as well, but those alone would not be enough for me to spend more money on the film. If we get either the screen test or a director's cut of the film (or, hopefully, both), then I'll get this new release of the film, but otherwise, I'll have to pass.

"I'll be there like a shot if Disc One is an extended, harder '15'-rated cut."

Oh yeah, that might make me buy it too. Apparently The Netherlands got the original, unrated version. I don't suppose it'll be to different from the cinematic release though. I'd love to see it though. Damn, why couldnt they just give the film a 15 rating to begin with?! Well, I already know the answer to that...

I'd love to see a complete version of the film with no violence cut out and including all the deleted scenes.

Remember that the three disc director's edition of Windtalkers, also from MGM had 35 minutes of bonus materials on the second disc and 45 mins on the third.

Actually, you got the timing wrong, that was a John Woo film, all the bonuses have to be played in slow motion.

Yeah, but in "Windtalkers"? Does Nicholas Cage carry a radio in each hand or something? :cooltongue:
