Not necessarily. Even though their respective tones are somewhat different, they both feature a "renegade" Bond.

October 23 sounds like a great double bill.

Any CBNers planning on attending this conference?

I was approached by a gentleman by the name of Clive Young who is writing a book called HOMEMADE HOLLYWOOD. He asked if he could show a short segment of my 1978 homemade movie MOONRAKER at the Hofstra University symposium. So I take pride in that my little film will be up there with giants like Raymond Benson, Rabert Davi, and now Tom Mankiewicz.

So much for my 15 minutes of fame.

Here is the list of events I received by email the other day:

If you're willing to fly in for this, I could be coerced into attending some of the programs held during the day.

I will be in attendance for sure. I am going to see OMHSS and LALD. And Possibly TMWTGG, and LTK. And I will definitely see the orchestra. That will be very cool. Is it black tie? Hopefully...

I only live about a half hour away from Hofstra and a bunch my friends go there so I'm almost definitely going to be there.

I will be there as I am presenting as a panel member for Bond Collecting and the Gadgets of James Bond. I think they have quite a few surprises in store for those that attend.

Hey, David, I'll see you there!

I'm on the panel "Writing James Bond" on Thursday afternoon. Given that it's in November and I've chewed up most of my time off, I don't think I'll be there for any other day, but I'll do all day Thursday.

How will we be able to rendezvous as CBners? A code of some kind? Any ideas?

Also Mantis, 'a few surprises in store.' That could be quite promising.

The few surprises should be coming in the form of some additional Bond actors...

Since dinner is "on our own" on the 7th why don't we get together for a few drinks and some food?

Does it have to remain a surprise? I'm on the fence with this. I need a push. One of these surprises might be that push. PM privately me if you like.

(Charlie Higson or Sebastian Faulks would get me there.)

Hi-I've been lurking for a while but figured I ought to sing up and say 'hey.' My name's Clive Young, and I'm doing a presentation on James Bond fan films next week at Hofstra. In fact, I'll be on David's panel Wednesday morning.

I'm currently writing a book about fan films called "Homemade Hollywood: Fans Behind The Camera," which is coming out next July from Continuum Books. Based on that, I'll be discussing a bit of the history of fan films before getting into JB fan flicks. Much of what I have to show will be familiar to the CBN crowd, I imagine, but at least you'll see it on a big screen instead of your computer. :D

Hey, that sounds like a terrific project, Clive.

Afraid I might not make it to Hofstra, but I look forward to your book when it's published.

Welcome to CBn. :D

I went to the Symposium today and had a great time. I was dissappointed I was only able to stay till 3:00. I had classes I had to go to. All the presenters I saw had very interesting things to say, especially the presentation of Psyche of a bond collector. I also really enjoyed meeting Raymond Benson and Robert Davi who were so nice and was able autograph some of my memorabilia. I was so happy to get my Benson novels signed as well as my Franz Sanchez sideshow figures autographed. It was a great experience and regret that I wont be able to attend tomorrows conclusion to the event. I have classes and an exam during the day.
