But if this is true I am also disappointed that he would let so many fans down even though I'm not a big fan of his but appreciate what he has done for Bond.
That`s another reason why he won`t do it. In a recent Cannes interview he`s answered the question what is good about being Bond, that there are countless things, which are good AND he said in in a very convinced voice. So I take it, that he doesn`t change his mind in such a short time.
And as you`ve said it, nobody has stopped him sofar from doing lots of other stuff.

If he only did two, though, between him and Dalton, the two great Bonds would have between them a full tenure in the role.

Where does that hint at Craig quitting after Bond 22?
Nonsense and ridiculous. Next rumor, please.

I don't think he is. I think it's just bad journalism - stretching quotes that simply say, "I don't want to do spy films forever" to indicate that it's a hint that he'll quit after BOND 22. A cheap tactic to produce a worthwhile headline - "Craig won't be Bond forever" just doesn't cut it.Although I can't say that I'm all that surprised to hear that he's considering stepping down after the next film, I hope that he decides to continue on in the role for a long, long time.

The thing is, he doesn't hint that he may quit after 22 anywhere. He just says he won't make these films forever, which could just as easily apply to his doing 3 films only. Personally I never expected him to go past 3.
exactly
he doesn't say anything about quitting. there's nothing in this article to draw the coclusion of the headline "1 more bond for daniel" it's as acurate as "12 more bond trilogies for daniel, this year"
he simply says he doesn't want to do them exclusivly, which given the number of projects he's involved in at any given time, is certainly far from happening.

Still, I think he's only doing the three he is contracted for and then moves on.

Even Dalton deserved three. But we know how it ended up.

Why is so much being made of this? There's absolutely no reason to believe that Craig is even hinting at quitting after BOND 22.
Exactly! Its THE SUN for God's sake, and even they have worded it ambiguously to imply that he said this. In case we need reminding, this is the publication that 'exclusively' announced that Thandie Newton would be playing Vesper Lynd, not to mention all the Craig can't drive, got 18 teeth punched out style rumors they ran all through the production of CR. Absolutely nothing to see here, folks, let's move on.

Besides, I guess my sarcastic sense of humor says, kids might "remember/typecast" him more for Lord Asriel? Eh...either way as many have already said.
Rubbish!

I would not be surprised if he left after 2, but I would rather he stuck it out until after Bond 23.

I recall in '87, the News of the World (Basically The Sun newspaper for Sundays) "EXCLUSIVELY" claimed Dalton had been axed after TLD. Eon and Dalton charged in and made the newspaper retract their false claim. This was more serious than this present so called story because, if memory serves, TLD had not yet been released so the claim could have really hurt the film etc.
In this case, The Sun have not said Craig is definitely qutting -- because Eon would jump in -- but the paper is twisting his words to suggest that he is somehow hinting that he might step down after one more. It's complete nonsense because when you actually read the quotes that is NOT what Craig is saying at all. And he would be way out of order saying such a thing when Bond 22 is moving forward.
Craig has signed for 3 movies, as Dalton was, but it was the long gap after LTK and the lack of support from MGM, which ultimately led to Dalton stepping down.
Craig will do his 3 films -- and may be -- if the script is really good, he might even do a 4th, but I'm pretty sure, like many here, that he won't do more than that.
I suspect the days of having an actor play Bond for 5,6 or 7 movies are over. A shame because in the end it will be the relatively frequent re-casting of Bond which will kill the series.
An early prediction -- and possibly too negative -- but after Craig leaves perhaps the next Bond actor may in fact be the last
one, leaving us with 7 actors for 007 and 26 or 27 films.

If after 2 films, he feels differently about things, and the producers concur, contracts mean little then.
Look at the Doctor Who actors, Christopher Ecclestone, very successful and popular, does one series and then quits, shocking the fans.
I don't assume to know what's in his contract, there maybe clauses after 2 films. The future isn't certain, but my guess is, he'll do 3, but we've seen stranger things happen in this business.

Exactly. There is a difference between how much we fans enjoy Daniel Craig as Bond and how much he is enjoying it. I think he always knew that the role would have its negative side - in particular press intrusion and greater exposure.
I always thought he was a great choice as Bond but nowhere near the kind of personality off-screen to deal with the extra attention.

That won't make the news though it should.
