As stated in the title, which location-establishment shot do you like?

I must say I love the sweeping views of Venice, and the shot of Bond jogging up the steps of his Bahamas hotel, but my favourite shot at the moment is the introduction to Montenegro.

You?

I like the shot when Bond & Vesper arrive at the Hotel Splendide (aka the Grand Hotel Pupp). There is something about the front of the hotel with the circular drive that makes it look inviting yet quaint.

The Nassau - Bahamas establishing shot. Great intro music from David Arnold and beautiful scenery, gives you that "I wanna go there!" feeling.

Sorry all. Must pull the trump card here.

Final shot. Lake Como villa. "The names is..."

I enjoyed everything in this movie, but this one just made me doo-doo in my drawers.

The distant shot of the villa. What a beautiful location. I can feel the crisp, clean breeze off the lake when Mr. White gets out of his Jag.

Italy. A place for show-downs.

For me probably the shot of the train that Bond and Vesper. YKMN playing over that shot for me just feels really old school like FRWL. I like Bond on trains for me it's so european.

Good ones. I too love Mr White's place on Lake Como, and the train shot. Good suggestions.

I'd been waiting for EON to catch wise to Lake Como for years. After Attack Of The Clones and Ocean's Twelve, I thought it would never happen. I was disappointed, because I think it's one of the absolute most beautiful places in the world. And then it showed up in CR and became reason #109 that I love that movie. So, yes, the villa shot at the end is indeed my favorite as well.

Yes. Yes. Yes. The sweeping train shot was truely glamerous. :cooltongue:

But, c'mon AgentPB. The final scene of the villa was really the most location establishing shot. Wasn't it? "Welcome to Italy's Lake Como." eh? :D :) :D

Wide screen villa. Small car driving up. Green. Blue. The color variation was traumatic.

(To me, anyway.)  :D

My favorite was the aerial shot of the train in Montenegro. Good music combined with a very classy looking shot.

That one and Venice are right near the top for me.

I'm afraid I don't know the name of the location, but that aerial shot of the mountain town in Montenegro, before we see Bond and Vesper wandering around Prague a lot. The shot is pretty magnificent. The music that's used there and on the train establishing shot are is incredibly beautiful

I too go for the ariel shot on the train in Montenegro. Very classy with beautiful establishing music.

Plus, if I have a second, it's Nassau. The gorgeous shots used for arriving and the music that ozzes Bond-class, plus Daniel looking uber-cool.

:cooltongue:

That hilltop town you're referring to is Loket in the Czech Republic, despite the scene being set in Montenegro in the movie. Very nice I agree!!

Obviously the Lake Como is the standout.

I have always liked the cruise over the water to Bond and Vesper on the yaught. The musical cue is magical, knowing this new life is about to be cut short by betrayal.

I like the shot when Bond goes to the poker game in Montenegro but I also like the shot in Venice and in the Bahamas and the lake Como shots, because they are near to my hometown.

The aerial shot of Montenegro. The town looks beautiful and the score is also just as pretty.

Same goes for the shot of the yacht sailing into Venice. Beautiful location and beautiful music.

I love David Arnold's music for the shot of Venice.

What is that piece called? It's Barryesque of course; reminds me so much of the romantic cues from Octopussy and TLD.

I don't know if this counts, but the aerial shot of the crowd at the cobra-mongoose fight in Madagascar. It's of those moments that places you into a very tangible place where people are going about their lives and pastimes, and are more than just background props and decorations in Bond's travels.

Yes, another good one.

I also like the establishing shot of London this time around, as it's Big Ben on a sunny day.

Classic Bond at Mr. White's villa at Como. Reminds me of Lake Lanier near Atlanta, and I can feel the lake breezes as White gets out of his car, and the final scene as Bond towers over White. He's just disabled his final enemy, and he's towering over him holding an AK-47 rifle in one hand, and a cell phone in the other. With the passing of Vesper, Bond has gotten revenge and redemption as he says the famous line. A classic moment, meant to establish DC as Bond.

I like the shot of Montenegro right before they show Bond parking the DBS. The sweeping, majestic score really helps, too.

Did you witness them doing any of the filming in 2006?

The first shot we see: Dryden getting out of his car. It may be unglamorous, but a few things stand out. Obviously the black and white stands out, as does the lack of music, we're opening up to a very different Bond film, and this one shot conveys that theme.

Anything with Bond right outside the front doors of the Hotel Splendide. Gives me a great feel. I wish I were there.

Venice, due to the superb use of sweeping music for a sweeping shot for a sweeping vista...

I love the Venice scenes, as I recognise certain places from when I was there in 2003.
