The repeating is fine. It emphasises his emotional state.

Too me the dialogue in this scene reads fantastically but sounds a lot worse (but not because of the acting). It's just laid on too thick. It's like a slice of toast so soaked in honey that it's sticking to the plate. Craig and Green do a good job of delivering the lines and emotions, particularly Bond's vulnerability. The problem is that the vulnerability seems, to me, to come very suddenly from nowhere. It doesn't ring true to me, even though it can be explained in the context of what has already happened in the movie at that point.

Having said all that, I'm not sure how I would have done it any better. We need to establish that Bond is ready to leave the service, that he's in love, ready to give it all up. That Vesper is important to him (and incidentally, that she's dead meat at this point, as I hear people say plenty of times in the cinema)

Basically, the scene makes me cringe.

I too love this as it shows that Bond is making sure Vesper listens to him and understands him, and so as she strokes his face in an emotional touch, Bond just affixes himself and over-powers her with his words again to make sure she knows this is something he feels from the heart, and not just saying it for the spur of the moment romance.

Wonderful.

This is one of my favorite scenes, along with Bond's marriage proposal to Tracy in OHMSS. What I find fascinating about it is that Bond first tries to fend off Vesper's emotional outburst with his "You know what I can do with my finger" joke.

When it doesn't work, he finally allows the mask to slip and declares his love for her. And the interesting thing is that he is intense, yet uncomfortable at the same time. Very fitting for an emotional man, who has developed a habit of hiding his emotions for many years.

Boy, people will complain about anything. It was a great scene. A defining moment in Bond's life. It was played by an actor who stands above the other excellent actors who have played bond.

However, I rather imagine that Laz could have sold the line also since he brought a lot of understated emotion to the role.
