Which is actually better? Having a Bond movie that takes up the screen or the bars with the movie in the middle?

I'm leaning toward fullscreen because I find widescreen slightly annoying plus it makes the picture smaller. I have both versions but I'm thinking of gfetting rid of one.

Opinions?

Widescreen - 100% definitely widescreen.

Would you rather suffer a couple of tiny bars, or miss out on almost half of the picture itself? With fullscreen, you're not seeing the whole film.

X2. No other way to go.

Save your pennies for a bigger tv. It'll be worth it!

Fullscreen. Sue me.

Widescreen's great, but only if you have a really large and fantastic widescreen TV, and even then a 2.35:1 television set is preferable (and I don't think they even make those).

The film was made in wide screen, it should be presented in wide screen, as per the artists' intent.

Widescreen is the way to go, pure and simple. Anything else is just nuts. Besides, aren't all the older Bond films solely released in widescreen?

Another scenario: I have a TV that allows me to zoom in on the picture. So when I play a widescreen DVD, I can zoom a bit and then have the entire screen filled. I only do it for comparison, though. Widescreen all the way. Better to see the movie as it was intended.

Widescreen. Even if you have a crappy TV, well...someday you'll get a better one?

Agreed, widescreen. I even prefered widescreen when I had a smaller TV (I now have a 42' widescreen TV)

The bars become trivial when you think about the future effecs. Once you get a widescreen TV, then you will have bars on the sides of the picture.

My personal preference is now and ever shall be for wide-screen; however, my beloved wife holds to the opposite view, so the first copy I bought of Casino Royale I bought was fullscreen in deference to her wishes.

As the special features are a trifle thin, I am anticipating a better version being out in future, so when I buy that version, it will be wide-screen.

If it was filmed in super 35, you actually will get more image full screen.
Someone checked ?

It doesn't matter if you see "more" image on the top and bottom of a fullscreen DVD, what you're seeing is NOT the image as originally framed, and MEANT to be seen by the director...

Widescreen. People should not have the choice. You can't choose whether you have the Venus di Milo with arms, or the Mona Lisa with blonde hair. I'm glad region 2 don't give you the choice. Widescreen or nothing.

I said this somewhere else and I'll say it again:

Revive VHS.

That way people who like Full Screen can go back to the medium of their choice, and I don't have to sift through nothing but Full Screen versions of movies when I go to buy.

There's a fabulous shot in the teaser where Craig is sitting on one side of the room and Dryden is on the other. That shot is only available in Widescreen, with fullscreen you're going to have the camera panning back and forth, ruining the awesomeness (yes it's a word) of the shot.

Widescreen all the way.

If I want fullscreen I'll watch cable and premium channels.

I wonder why they don't just include both full and wide versions of films the way they did back in the early days of DVD? I guess there wouldn't be as much available bit rate for reproduction if you did.

IT is about time someone played with the wording to influence buyers. I mean, they do that with every other aspect of culture.

Widescreen should be banned. It makes people think the bars are some sort of artistic add-on. Rename it "Original Version"

Fullscreen should be banned. It makes peolpe think that they are getting the complete picture. Rename it "Cropped and Edited Version"

Now, who is going to buy the "Cropped and Edited Version?"

Plus, full screen versions were a way of letting people convert from VHS to DVD. People would stick with their VHS tape so they can get "the whole picture." Now that they have no other option to buy the movie, why do studios even bother producing them?

Widescreen all the way.

It also happens during the train scene with Bond and Vesper. Ugh...

Widescreen all the way. Fullscreen makes me cringe. Unless the TV is tiny, the bars aren't a big problem. I'd rather get the whole picture undistorted if it means two black bars.

I'm waiting to buy the CR VHS released in Argentina just to see it in Fullscreen.

Anyone could send me caps of the fullscreen version of the main titles please? Thanks.
