I was arrested once for indecent exposure...

...I was let off for lack of evidence! (BOOM BOOM!)

So it wouldn't stand up in court?

Yup. Wood not.

Glad you didn't have to do any hard time, ACE.

You guys have left me misty-eyed. I sit here moved to recall a true and poignant story. Place: Tokyo, after WWII. General MacArthur is considering running for president. He has his supporters among the Japanese. And in a charming confusion of R's and L's, a large sign is put up:

WE PLAY FOR MACARTHUR'S ERECTION!

I had thought "Virgin Bond" referred to the quest for previously unknown facts about Bond or Fleming. I am beginning to become concerned, based on the double entendre humour above, that I may have been mistaken and that it is a thread on which virgins who enjoy James Bond can post. I hope I'm not in the wrong place.

Like Little Nellie in YOLT I must defend my honor. I was just finishing up at the office prior to some nightclubbing for which I am still paying the price today. Your point, however, is unfortunately, somewhat well taken.

BOND & THE BEATLES (A.K.A. THE PSYCHEDELIC BOND). (Source: Backpage.com, "The Best of James Bond, Agent 007" by John Patterson).

Fascinating article and well worth the while of all not alive in the 60s...or at least in a warm womb with a view. Patterson offers some perspective:

"...the series' high tide, the years 1963 to 1969, when the success of the Bond movies and the sales of Ian Fleming's novels were matched only by that of the Beatles records as a fresh, uncobwebbed British cultural artifact turned record-breaking global economic phenomenon."

1963: The novel OHMSS was published in the spring to ecstatic reviews and marketed with life-size Bond cutouts...as Beatlemania "convulsed a suddenly wide-awake Britain..." The second Bond film FRWL was released in October and topped the year's British box-office figures.

1964: the franchise went global and solidified its identity with GF.

1965: Fleming's novels sold 27 million copies worldwide and "at home they were the roaring engine of the British paperback revolution."

1967: "months before the Beatles made their first career flop (the TV movie Magical Mystery Tour), YOLT syffesred tgat 007's predictable antics might be losing their grip on audiences."

1969: "But 1969's OHMSS (the film) was a creative rebirth akin to Abbey Road."

Fleming's wife Ann nicknamed him ThunderBeatle.

OHMSS as Abbey Road.......mmmmm

I wonder what ACE's machine would make of the other eras? TD as Oasis doing the Beatles?
PB's four as Kylie Minoque or the Spice Girls. (and before I get accused of Broz-bahsing, please remember I love TWINE, and somewhere, in an old shoebox full of cassettes is a Spice Girls CD bought by a middle-aged man desperately trying to recapture his youth...)

Gosh, this thread has become quite disturbing in peeling back my layers.....
